Only issue I have is how easy it is to scratch a CD when pulling it in and out of the Superdrive. Remedy? I simply purchased and exterior DVD/CD burner.

Other than that, love my 20" iMac. Runs great and handles Hi-Def video perfectly.

The computer that converted me from Windows/Linux to Mac, and the most powerful computer I've ever owned... No more building computers for myself or friends/family, Not dealing with Windows crap anymore..

That's pretty much the exact same way I feel about mine.

No kidding! I have been building PC's for over 10 years. I won't miss the constant hassles. As soon as I started using the Mac, I wondered why I messed with Windows in the first place. :)

would be really: my screen flickers slightly, and i am worried about having it repaired incase dust enters under the class.

Likewise! I'm in transition of getting rid of my PC desktop and getting an iMac. I'm already halfway there by switching my laptop to an MBP. As soon as I backup all my stuff and find a buyer for my computer (or some other use for it) I'll be picking up an iMac.

I'm very happy with my iMac. No more messing with upgrades. Just going to by a new Mac every couple of years.

First Mac computer

Well I bought my first iMac at the apple store in Jax. florida a little over a week ago. Having never used a Mac before I had them open up the 20" iMac and check it all out at the store. I had them run it thru just about everything I could think of checking for stuck/dead pixels, condensation etc. It looked and sounded perfect and I took it home. I'm very happy and satisfied with it so far and I haven't had any issues. It will take awhile to learn OS X but so far I am doing pretty good. So far I am glad I switched from two windows laptops which are just sitting here next to me wondering where I went.:) I am older than all of you here in these forums and whoever said that ya can't teach an old dog new tricks?

Absolutely love mine. No issues. Been said a million times before but people with issues will rant online. People who are happy will be quietly ecstatic.

Its gonna be a very small percentage affected. Or i dont think Apple would be recording record sales and profits if the majority of their products were duds.

Apart from the gradient issue, which is there when I look for it, I couldn't be more satisfied: it is fast, silent and the best looking iMac Apple ever made.

I just fired up my new iMAC today and I really love it. I am going through my adjustment phase now as an ex-Windows user--but so far I've not found anything to dislike about my iMAC. Maybe it is just my room--lots of windows--or my eyes--but I personally love the glossy screen. The aluminum iMAC is simply a stunning piece of work!

I think it's a little unfair to say those of us with gradient problems are 'ranting' I think we have a right to be a bit peeved about getting a bad copy of the machine and expect a little more in terms of "quality" - something apple proudly differentiates itself on compared to the competition.

+1

Well it wasn't the iMac that converted me from Microsoft. It was a G4 15" Powerbook. Other than that, it looks like we enjoy freedom from Microsoft.

We bought our second 24" Alum iMac for my wife and kids to use.

Kids still have G4 Power Mac's we picked up for them to complete the migration form Microsoft. Talk about headaches, imagine having 3 kids each with their own Windows computers. Oh the headaches !!!!!

I'm a recovering Microsoft victim - Windows free and headache free for 3 years now !!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very pleased with my Aluminum iMac! Best computer I have had yet. The Mighty Mouse however.... not so much.

I too used to build and upgrade PC's every year in my Windows days. Love my iMac 24" 2.8, no problems, runs fast. I do tons of photo corrections and can't complain about the display. Loved my iMac so much I've added to the family with MB and MBP. OS X doesn't slow down when you install more apps, no more registry problems, life is great and I can concentrate on enjoying my computer.

Yes, I hate my wireless Mighty Mouse, drains battery too fast and scroll button is having problems despite cleaning - seems to happen to all other users as well.

I'm a very happy switcher. 1st Mac I've ever owned. I too was spooked by all of the negative posts, and early production issues. I think this is a great time to buy. A vast majority of happy owners go along their merry way and do not post like the unhappy owners.

I custom built my PC's and swapped motherboards, video cards, etc... I see no reason to continue this behavior.. The iMac has it all for what I do now. Probably the only adjustment I've had to make was breaking some Windoze behavior.. No need to micromanage every directory tree structure like the good 'ol days.
