Is anyone tempted to buy a Note 9 today?

If I didn't have all Apple products, I would be tempted to at least try it. No iMessage is my biggest constraint though. Most of my friends and family have iPhones and I don't want to have them download 3rd party apps or download videos or photos from a 3rd party site to see full res photos and videos. iMessage is so easy.

If I get selected for insights getting one at half price I’ll make everybody figure out the iMessage thing if they want to send pics/videos. Lol

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
I would personally wait to see what the big screen Pixel 3 is like first. But if you need the S Pen you can’t do much better. I would of said yes because of the screen go for the Note 9, buuuut with the pixel cameras getting consistently fantastic reviews, the 3 could be better then the Note 9 camera.
Obviously the designs are a personal taste.....

EDIT: I have to add I’m not interested in Android currently, love my Apple Watch way too much.

I am not tempted.

But I'm waiting for the cash to get Google Pixel 2 XLs though, so that's why.

As far as iMessage…well everyone's different. In my case, I rarely send pictures and even when I do SMS is good enough. 90% of the people I deal with do not have iMessage and SMS is the standard. Thus there is no making anyone install anything because I don't have to.

So, for you, not having iMessage is an impediment, where for me it's simply not relevant.

If I would have had an eligible phone to trade in to get $500 off I would have picked one up. Phones such as the s7 and note 5 were both available used for $175 or so, and both were worth $500 trade in. I didn’t realize that until it was too late. It’s probably for the best, since I am attached to my Apple Watch like no other piece of tech. If the Apple Watch worked with an android phone I would most likely go with that combo, but it’ll never happen. I also think the note 9 will be replaced by most people next year if/when 5G support launches. It’s insane how many A+ android phones are available right now, and in the coming months. From budget phones to flagships, Android is killing it right now.

Of all the reasons I keep using iPhone, iMessage is definitely not one of them. Everyone uses whatsapp these days, why would one want to get stuck in using a messaging system that can only work with other iphones? Do yourself a favor and get whatsapp even if you stay on iPhone

Very few people in America use WhatsApp. It’s used in countries that tend to charge more for data from what I’ve seen.

Personally I don’t think the note 9 can be compare with an iPhone maybe the note 10.

So not tempted at all.

Wait until the new iPhones come out (especially the plus edition) and you see how bad the new A12 chip smokes the Note 9.

Benchmarks don’t always translate to real world usage. The a11 crushed all android phones on benchmarks this year, but android phones felt just as fast. Use a oneplus 6 and tell me the a11 “smokes” it. Top tier android phones are not the $199 throwaway phones your grandparents are using. Android can compete and even top iOS in many ways. Some people seem hell bent on slandering android. Then on the flip side you have all the android rubes who think anyone who likes Apple is an iSheep. Liking both is a benefit. This isn’t a right vs wrong situation, and both offer pros that the other can’t match.

Whatsapp solves all this completely, it takes 5 seconds to install and is so simple you can teach a 90-year-old grandma to use it :D

Also, huge advantage: s9 and Note9 use USB C for charging. So does the MBP. So you can use the MBP charger for both and even connect your phone to the MBP. I love carrying just one cable around for everything.

I would definitely buy it, I'd love myself a bigger screen and a larger battery, but I have a galaxy s9 already :)

I've got a 8 plus and my intention is to get a new X in September launch, because I find the 8 plus too big and heavy, so even though the note 9 is a very complete phone i just think it's too big, looking forward to the new X!
