is everyone in this thread rich. No offense meant towards anyone, just genuinely curious

Far from it. A work tool that is required for me to earn money is not really a loss. My brother is a mechanic and his work tools far exceed the cost of the iPad pro.

This time, I ordered the WiFi only model. I never bought a data plan from AT&T, because I already pay them to much for mine and sisters phone plans. Decided since I hadn’t done that, I didn’t need the cellular/WiFi model. I can always return it if I decide I want to get a data plan after it arrives. Haven’t cancelled my preorder which currently is 13th-16th. I don’t think I could get to a store on the 7th early, as I am a teacher and won’t get a sub to get an iPad Pro. Was I stupid? Two of my sisters think I am.

I was on holiday last week and had my iPad with me as my primary entertainment device, which was seeing a lot of use as, unfortunately, my wife was taken unwell (nothing too serious, but a bad enough cold to wipe her out for a couple of days). Even with basically continual use throughout the day I never used more than 60% of total capacity.

In my experience the iPad really is an all-day device.

After initially ordering 12.9" 512gb from Apple, and then cancelling the order due to being a little unsure of my choice, I have finally settled on the 11" 256GB instead. I have a 12.9 2017 for sale, and picked it up again to play around with notetaking, etc. and realized that one reason I don't use it as much as intended is the size. Yes, it is the size of a note pad. But I prefer taking notes with composition books so the smaller one is better for me. And I don't need that much storage space, especially since it's not a laptop replacement for me. And if I need portable processing power, I use my Surface Book, so the 6gb of RAM that comes in the most expensive model isn't necessary either. Will wait to decide on a keyboard - I do have the larger one on order (I was too late to cancel) so when I return it to the store I'll check out the keyboard for the 11" and decide then.

FYI, I placed my order with Costco.com and they have them shipping a week from tomorrow. I chose standard shipping so not overnight (they charge extra for that). But since I live in the Seattle area, I suspect it will come within a couple of days anyway, because I suspect they are warehousing them here. The member price is $50 off list, plus I get 2% back using my executive membership, plus 2% back in Costco credit card rewards, so I'm saving just over $80 even after paying for shipping. Other than the educational discount, this is probably one of the best deals out there. Probably should have had it shipped to my brother's office in Portland, OR though to save money by not paying sales tax too LOL.

Since I have the 2016 pro with 2 gb of ram and it just doesn’t cut it, I ordered one but not happy with the premium price and not totally upgraded from last years model.....for sure, last time I pay this much for an inferior 2 year at most product
