Ordered mine last night... decided to go with the 256GB WIFI model in Silver (since the border is black on both color variants). I got the 11” for portability sake. Also picked up a folio case (non-keyboard), in charcoal gray and a usb-c to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter both arriving on Friday the 2nd. The iPad itself should get here on the 7th.

Holding off on purchasing the pencil for now as everything is more expensive than I was expecting it to be, but will probably get one eventually. For now I still have my 12.9” 2017 Pro w/ the “old” pencil... might just keep it around as a backup iPad.

Can’t wait to get my hands on this beast of a tablet!!!

Im still not sure about getting an iPad or a MacBook. Im a student and I will need the device for writing (with Keyboard and Pencil, I don’t know how good the Smart Keyboard is), looking YT videos and light video and photo editing.

I also have a good Desktop PC if this information is necessary

If you already have a pc there is no reason to get a macbook. The iPad is a much more enjoyable device (that can do real work as well).

To add to what @vagos says, I will note that at my university the majority of students are using mobile devices both in class and for much of their class work. For one thing, they are much easier to carry around.

I assume so..what do you think about BF, what are the odds that apple offers a gift card with purchase..or best buy lowers the price?

I’d say odds are extremely high. They do so every year no matter when launched. Never buy these from apple though.

I sort of took the opposite approach. I usually wait patiently for a returned Pro to go clearance at my local electronics store (they are usually ~$50 off already and clearance knocks another 50 or 100) but I went ahead and ordered the Pencil 2 right away because I remember searching high and low for a month to get my hands on the first Pencil. It's already Preparing for Shipment.

My iPad has been charged to my card and is now preparing to ship. Yay!

iPad Pro, Slate, 12.9, 256gb, WIFI. Order confirmed yesterday 11:35 am EST

Ordered the 11” 64gb to replace my Air 2. It will be a consumption device, a little over kill but I really wanted that bigger screen and form factor.

I am however contemplating cancelling if true about no HDR and Dolby Vision display.

Where did u hear that about no HDR display? My 10.5 and 12.9 from 2017 support HDR... I don’t see why Apple would take a step backward....

I’d love to get one but if I’d buy one I’d have to go iOS only and sell my MacBook. Little too pricey for me right now.

Not me. No headphone jack = no new iPad.

My last year 12.9 iPad Pro will be fast enough for many years to come anyway.

Also I really hate FaceID on my iPhone X(really slugglish and doesn’t work 100% of the time) so I doubt I would like it on an iPad.

I just sold my iPP 12,9 2nd gen for a really good prize and preordered the new 12,9 baseline with LTE right away. I’m lucky that delivery on 7th nov was still available.

The XS and nu-Pro both have second generation FaceID that is supposedly faster and more reliable. And the iPad has FaceID that works in any orientation so another niggle removed.

I’m hopefully that FaceID on the nu-Pro will be a really seamless experience.

Rich is relative. $100K income could be a lot to live on in one part of the US like in the midwest, but not enough to live nearly as comfortable in another area like NYC.

I ordered a 256GB 11" from Best Buy last night. I use my quite a bit at home and like having it for travel. I love the iPhone X screen shape and want the same in my iPad. I was planning on buying, hesitated a bit with the price spike on this, but decided it was worth it in the end.

Not true at all. There is no ‘second generation’ FaceId yet

Ordered the 12.9 512 but it won’t be here till nov 20 - 28

There is second gen faceid on the Xs and max. I would assume it’s on the iPad as well

No where has it been touted as 2nd hen Face ID. It’s just slightly faster due to the a12...

By definition, the nu-Pro at least has a new generation of FaceID since it can process faces in any orientation.

If that is the case the nu-Pro should be quicker still, then , as it has the A12X.

I have the same issue since its was deliberately omitted from the KeyNote. The display last year and this year probably don't meet the Specs to be labled HDR or Dolby Vision.

It will be the same as on the xs/xr

It’s not been mentioned on any of the tech specs. HDR and DV support has also been removed from the tech specs for last years model. Also Techradar said in their hands on it does not display either format.
