I ordered yesterday and my shipping date is a week later than people posting here, is this an East vs. West coast difference?

Yea Ive been wondering how many students there are on here. Cause they get a huge discount. 50 off the iPad and 10 off the pencil.

TBH apple doesn't even check, there is no school enrollment verification. No .edu email required. And you save yourself a decent amount.

Unless I’m mistaken, it’s only 50 dollars off. I’m a grad student and my price on the education store is honestly a pretty small discount.

Yeah I was hoping to wait another week or so to see what BF deals come out, I doubt anything comes out for a brand new product..not sure what to do..with apple I think on BF the most they do is offer a gift card with purchase? Im on the education site for apple only a 50 dollar savings, I doubt best buy price matches student discounts?

I’m actually thinking it might be better to just go on release day? Surely it’s going to be in stock?

Was about to hit the order button yesterday on a 12.9 (moving up from the 10.5) and I looked at the price in the cart and figured I'd wait until a friend of mine who can jump on a friends and family discount can order it for me. Lessens the sting a bit for me. Bummed I have to wait a bit but it won't kill me...right? LOL

The more I think about it, the less sense it makes. Hopefully we will get some clarification soon. I've seen people online saying that the storage controller for the 1TB might need more memory, so it might not actually let the system use all of the 6GB. I have no idea if that is bollocks or not, but it sounds kinda that way because I haven't heard about that being true for Macs. Another thing to consider is the 6GB models may have less battery life than the 4GB models. At least that is what everyone always claims as the reason why Apple doesn't put more RAM in. If this turns out to be false, people will never be able to use that argument again. I think even Schiller used that argument with 32GB of RAM in MBPs a couple years ago. Obviously they get more efficient over time allowing more RAM, but we haven't been able to test different amounts of RAM in what are otherwise identical units. Should be interesting.

If they're going to do this more RAM thing anyway, they should at least make it the top two tiers of 512GB and 1TB. That's already a ton of money for 512GB. I can't really see a use case for 99% of people needing 1TB in a tablet. But maybe the same could be said for RAM in a tablet. IDK. I prefer more for longevity and keeping apps open for multitasking. My iPhone XS seemed a lot faster with more RAM because I could swipe back 20 apps and not have to reload it. And while it would obviously be best if all iPad Pros got 6GB, the second best option would be to split it by device size like they have in a few generations of iPhone and the first generation iPad Pro. The 12.9" version makes more sense because it has a larger display space that can run full size apps in multitasking and is probably more likely to be pushed to the limits. That is probably why it originally started at 4GB and the 9.7" iPad Pro was at 2GB. After having owned a 10.5" since launch, I feel like the smaller iPad Pro is for people who want to do more advanced things on the iPad, and the 12.9" is more for people who are wanting to replace a 13" MBP for many tasks.

I agree, I wouldn’t be surprised if 6GB will be exclusive to the 12.9 (regardless of storage configuration) in the future, similar to how they handle the MbP lineup.

WTF? Many of us don't upgrade idevices every year. We also don't do rent-a-center IUP type nonsense. I don't buy new TV's every year, or cars, or much of anything. I bought my current 12.9 IPP in Nov 2015, so it's been 3 years. I've had my iPhone 7 for over 2 years now and am not buying a phablet phone this year.

I think many are upgrade crazed. Some how they feel the need to upgrade phone, tablet, watch, laptop, whatever, every single year. That's crazy financially. Own a home yet? Putting money away in retirement for your future? Awfully hard to do those sound financial things buying iDevices constantly. Some people do well for themselves and maybe Apple stuff is their passion. Others are in debt with an upgrade problem. Just way too many variables. "Rich" has nothing to do with it.

Thanks. Agree with your second paragraph as it seems a lot fall into that bucket. And not just upgrade every year, every 2 years, but buying the max specs and accessories with it

I have been moved to preparing to ship. Anyone else?
When did you place your order? I ordered the keyboard separately and it is preparing to ship, but my iPad Pro 12.9, 256gb, WiFI is still processing. I ordered yesterday and recieved my confirmation at 11:35 am. EST

Same here, but I expect the iPad to "catch up" to the keyboard in the next day or so.

How did you get the edu discount on B&H?

I signed up on here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/eduAdvantage.jsp . Then I did a Live Chat to ask for a request and code to get my education discount. The rep sent in the request to someone else(?) and then sent me a link and instructions to use after I got the approval. I bought the iPad 11" and Apple Pencil separately to get my education discount for both (It wouldn't let me get my discount on one transaction). They will ask you for Apple's Education Discount link of the exact model you want.

Hope that helps! :)

I was going to wait until Christmas and I couldn’t decide between the 12.9 & 11.
By 5:00 pm I preordered the 11. With keyboard folio and pencil 2.
Keyboard folio delivers on the 7th.
11 inch and pencil delivers between 16th and 21st.

I ordered from Apple.

But, I would bet that B&H would give you the educational discount. ETA: See @mooshhie above.

For me, I always order from Apple. I know I'll get it as soon as possible and it will arrive when it's promised to arrive and I know I will have a no-hassle 14 day return period. For me, that peace of mind is worth paying sales tax.

Im still not sure about getting an iPad or a MacBook. Im a student and I will need the device for writing (with Keyboard and Pencil, I don’t know how good the Smart Keyboard is), watching YT videos and light video and photo editing.

I also have a good Desktop PC if this information is necessary

Well the pen was charged. The iPad 12.9 not.

This will be fun, I’ll have a pen for a week and nothing to do with it until the iPad arrives the week after :(

Preparing to ship for Apple Pencil
Processing items for iPad Pro 256GB SG Wifi only. I guess the status will change by tomorrow for the iPad I think. So excited

Cheers from Toronto, Canada.

I ended up ordering a 12.9 Folio (non-keyboard) separately after cancelling my Keyboard Folio. It's already on it's way and will arrive several days before the iPad it will be protecting :)
