I ordered a silver 12.9’’/512/LTE and the new pen.....and a silver 11’’/512/LTE. Delivery the 7. nov.
Coming from a 10.5 I feel that the 12.9 is the only one that offers a significant upgrade for me.
But I will decide after I have tried both for some days and returning one of them.

I ordered a refurbished space grey 64 GB 10.5" Pro from Apple. $583 total. No chance I was spending $217 more for Face ID and .5".
Good call. Plus you get a)Optical stabilization on the rear camera (new iPads have lost this for some reason) and b) Headphone jack

Selling my 2017 iPad Pro will get me a great price now,
and I only have to add a few bucks to pay for the new one.

I usually upgrade if I have the cash, and get a better deal on selling second hand, that when I don't have the cash I can use the iPhone/iPad longer before buying new.

Decided to cancel my Keyboard Folio and go for the ‘regular’ Folio instead. I don’t like how the only way you can stand the keyboard version up is with the keys out front. Makes it too like a laptop for my taste.

The previous Smart Keyboard gave you the option.

11”/256GB/LTE w/folio and AC+. Price was ouch! But, I do love my tech toys, and my iPad(s) get used even more than my iPhone.

I’ll wait a bit on the pencil. I have it for my 10.5 Pro, but never really use it. Maybe half of it is due to the form/charging factor. I bet closer to the holidays, some retailer will have a sale and/or coupon that will knock $20 off the new Pencil.

11in with 256gb and the pencil!

I really need a case though. There aren't many options out there... And even apple doesn't make or list one!

Define rich? I don't know the figures offhand but what I recall if you earn like £50k per year that puts you in the top 5% of the UK I think.
That kinda seems too low. I thought UK had higher median income than US?

In the US, I believe median is ~$55K and $75K puts one in the 25%.

Definitely not rich but fairly low overhead—no kids, brown bag lunches, rarely buy clothing and shoes, use cars for 10+ years. Tech is my splurge category.

I plan on getting it. My wife and I both have 1st Gen 12.9 128gb. Apple is offering 250 for them right now and on eBay, they are running around 350. I might just keep mine and use it for work and the other for home. I might try to trade in my wifes. I am not charging for new ones. Just going to take my time and pay them off up front. Perhaps on Black Friday.

Personally, I wouldn’t get the 1TB just for the sole reason of it coming with 6GB RAM. If I was in the market for a 1TB iPad, then sure, 6GB is a bonus. Otherwise, it’s not worth it.

If there is actually 6GB RAM in the 1TB only, then it’s a could indication that 6GB of RAM will trickle down to the other configurations in the next year or two. Apple needs to justify the 2019/2020 iPad Pros one way or another since the 2018 iPad Pro is the redesigned generation.
The more I think about it, the less sense it makes. Hopefully we will get some clarification soon. I've seen people online saying that the storage controller for the 1TB might need more memory, so it might not actually let the system use all of the 6GB. I have no idea if that is bollocks or not, but it sounds kinda that way because I haven't heard about that being true for Macs. Another thing to consider is the 6GB models may have less battery life than the 4GB models. At least that is what everyone always claims as the reason why Apple doesn't put more RAM in. If this turns out to be false, people will never be able to use that argument again. I think even Schiller used that argument with 32GB of RAM in MBPs a couple years ago. Obviously they get more efficient over time allowing more RAM, but we haven't been able to test different amounts of RAM in what are otherwise identical units. Should be interesting.

If they're going to do this more RAM thing anyway, they should at least make it the top two tiers of 512GB and 1TB. That's already a ton of money for 512GB. I can't really see a use case for 99% of people needing 1TB in a tablet. But maybe the same could be said for RAM in a tablet. IDK. I prefer more for longevity and keeping apps open for multitasking. My iPhone XS seemed a lot faster with more RAM because I could swipe back 20 apps and not have to reload it. And while it would obviously be best if all iPad Pros got 6GB, the second best option would be to split it by device size like they have in a few generations of iPhone and the first generation iPad Pro. The 12.9" version makes more sense because it has a larger display space that can run full size apps in multitasking and is probably more likely to be pushed to the limits. That is probably why it originally started at 4GB and the 9.7" iPad Pro was at 2GB. After having owned a 10.5" since launch, I feel like the smaller iPad Pro is for people who want to do more advanced things on the iPad, and the 12.9" is more for people who are wanting to replace a 13" MBP for many tasks.

Trying to decide on model. I sold my 10.5 last month in anticipation of this, but am having trouble deciding on 11" vs 12.9". Wish it was in stores to demo. The problem is my two primary uses (drawing tablet and roaming control of a sound board at festivals) are at odds in size. I have a feeling I should stick with the smaller format, but might be tempted by that size (much like I was with the plus size phones for one year and then developed cramping in my hand from holding it :( )

Ordered the 11” 64gb to replace my Air 2. It will be a consumption device, a little over kill but I really wanted that bigger screen and form factor.

I am however contemplating cancelling if true about no HDR and Dolby Vision display.

is everyone in this thread rich. No offense meant towards anyone, just genuinely curious

WTF? Many of us don't upgrade idevices every year. We also don't do rent-a-center IUP type nonsense. I don't buy new TV's every year, or cars, or much of anything. I bought my current 12.9 IPP in Nov 2015, so it's been 3 years. I've had my iPhone 7 for over 2 years now and am not buying a phablet phone this year.

I think many are upgrade crazed. Some how they feel the need to upgrade phone, tablet, watch, laptop, whatever, every single year. That's crazy financially. Own a home yet? Putting money away in retirement for your future? Awfully hard to do those sound financial things buying iDevices constantly. Some people do well for themselves and maybe Apple stuff is their passion. Others are in debt with an upgrade problem. Just way too many variables. "Rich" has nothing to do with it.

Rich is relative. $100K income could be a lot to live on in one part of the US like in the midwest, but not enough to live nearly as comfortable in another area like NYC.

I ordered a 256GB 11" from Best Buy last night. I use my quite a bit at home and like having it for travel. I love the iPhone X screen shape and want the same in my iPad. I was planning on buying, hesitated a bit with the price spike on this, but decided it was worth it in the end.

Yea Ive been wondering how many students there are on here. Cause they get a huge discount. 50 off the iPad and 10 off the pencil.

TBH apple doesn't even check, there is no school enrollment verification. No .edu email required. And you save yourself a decent amount.
