Doubtful. Last year they were 6 months old at the time of Black Friday. Not 2 weeks...
No surprises here on what they delivered - I knew I'd be ordering a 12.9 if they hit all the rumors (type c, magnetic pencil, edge to edge screen), so I pulled the trigger today. That said, the 12.9 inch with 256GB is over $1200 after taxes, so I'll be surprised if Apple gets supply constrained on them.
The real question for me is who would by a MacBook Air now? If you need MacOS for what you do, then you're probably in market for a MPB or better anyway. If not, then iPad pro with keyboard cover seems it would be a better fit for most potential air customers.

I havent seen any dates pushed back on Apples site beyond 11/7, which ones are selling out?
I think the 12.9 are usually less supply from the beginning. They are Nov 12 here in UK now. May have been that from the get go, I didnt check.
When does best buy usually post pre orders for ipad pros? I can get it from apple with student discount for 899..at best buy I would not get the student discount that is the one thing leaning me towards buying it from apple
I keep checking their site also, if they offer any gift cards with purchase I would cancel the one I placed through Apple and use my Best Buy Credit Card and get extra points. I am not sure why they have yet to add it to their site.

I’ve just been in chat with Apple help and they said that smart covers are coming .. BERY glad to hear this myself as it’s what I use most of the time and perfect for when I type with it on my lap.
When the 10.5 came out Adorama had a deal where it was $50 or $100 cheaper for the 256gb model. I remember cancelling my order through Apple and buying from Adorama. Actually came out cheaper for the 256 vs the 64 since I didn't have to pay tax and they were offering a discount. Really hoping they do a similar deal again this year.... Then I'll upgrade

Edit: Got in contact with support, gave them my iPhone serial number.

Hopefully its true but honestly take ANYTHING you hear from apple employees with a grain of salt. They really don't know..a few weeks ago I talked to apple support to get help with my apple MacBook pro 2018(Setting it up, etc) and I asked him if Apple will have an October event announcing new iPad Pros and he said no LOL
Yep, the ones ordering today are paying full price. You never pay full price for an ipad.
I'm pretending to decide and weigh my options even though I know perfectly well I'll cave on a new Pro and Pencil by the end of the day.

I went ahead and canceled my 11 inch 64gb order for the 256gb. I hate that the price difference is $150 but I feel like the longer size is better for me. I'm hoping to future proof it by having the larger size for me. I don't want to regret it in a year from now. I don't update these very often! I'm looking forward to next Wednesday!

Isn't that the Smart Folio that is available now? They have a Smart Cover and the Folio. I got the Smart Folio in Sand Pink for my 11 inch IPP. Since it doesn't have a keyboard, I'm pretty sure that's the "Smart Case" this year. I could be wrong though.

Probably not biting the bullet til after Christmas if I do at all. I sold my 2nd gen 12.9 late last spring planning to get an updated 10.5 when the new ones released. I bought a 2018 iPad with pencil support to use in the meantime, and honestly, I love my setup with it, and have realized I probably don’t really NEED a pro.
That being said, I will likely cave because I always do, but after buying the new watch and XR, I think I’ll give myself a little time to recover.

I went all in. 12.9” 1 TB, new pencil and folio keyboard.
Not me--I'm fine with my 10.5 and Smart Keyboard for a couple more years, but I really like the size of the new 12.9. A later iteration may be in my future.
I bought a new LTE Series 4 Watch and XS Max in September and had been saying I was going to hang on to my 10.5" Pro for another year before upgrading. I caved on that idea weeks ago and ordered a new Pro today. My wife is......annoyed.
