Who will be keeping their iPhone 12 series this year?

I will upgrade my 12 Pro only if 13 Pro will have 120Hz screen AND always on display. If it would be just camera upgrades I'll stay with my 12 Pro.

I have a 12, I would have picked 12 Pro if 120 Hz instantly I'm a tech / screen enthusiast but this does not apply for photography. So no interest for 2020 pro line up.
I keep my phone at least 2-3 years since iPhone 7. If i had to upgrade i would take the pro just due to 120 hz (screen is by far the most important thing for me in an iPhone).

But coming from a 12 now, having 120 Hz is not enough to justify the expanse IMO. So I would wait more innovation (no notch, new form factor, maybe why not foldable too?) I don't care about incremental CPU / camera upgrade coming from a 2020 model

Like many here have stated, it would take a lot to get me to upgrade this year, and I’m not even sure 120hz is enough anymore. The 12 Pro Max is good enough that I will probably move into bi-annual upgrades.

I’ve finally grown tired of upgrading every year for things that I really don’t need. My iPhone 12 is doing just fine for my needs and so I’m going to keep my money in my pocket for perhaps a 14 inch MacBook Pro or a razor 14 inch. You get to a point in life that your needs or wants change and the hype for whatever is coming out does not interest me anymore. 😴

Me, and not because the iPhone 13 is particularly boring. It’s just that today smartphones aren’t aimed to be upgraded each year. I have the iPhone 12, I’ll look for a replacement in 2023 or 2024

I will keep my 12, of course.
I never and will never upgrade an iPhone on a yearly basis.

Since I learned last year that even on the upgrade program Apple does a hard credit check every year I have decided not to go with Apple’s upgrade program. I’d rather just buy the device and because of the same reason I also didn’t upgrade last year because by the time the 12 Pro came out it was already late for the people on the upgrade program. I’m tempted not to upgrade this year as well but let’s see what Apple releases with the 13.
I think it's a hit or miss. all my upgrade was a soft check on the iUP. They never ended up on my credit report. Only the first initial and that's it.

Either way, I plan on keeping this one and I'll upgrade to maybe 3-4 years from now. 🤣

I’m still holding onto my SE1 lol, but that’s neither here nor there. Crazy iOS 15 is being supported on it though. Was not expecting that.

I’m curious, what jailbreak functions do you use? I’d only consider it for the ability to remotely control the phone from another device.

Do you find that is more cost effective than Apple’s upgrade program?

I have tweaks to customize my device where Apple will not let me. Also because I’m on 14.1, I can’t use my Apple Watch to unlock my phone, but thanks to be jailbroken, I can.

We were on the upgrade train together last year for the blue pro max, but I won’t be this year. Truly enjoy this phone and it still feels new to me.….. and normally I get bored easily haha.

I remember you! I feel the same way, and am surprised I haven’t got bored with my pro Max yet.

My wife and I both purchased 12’s early in the year. while we still miss Touch ID, we love the 12’s. We both charge with MagSafe and 5m in both our batteries still read 100%.

Plenty of battery life for us (average non power users.)

Fully expect these to be 3-4 year devices.

Just got this iPhone 12 in March, no desire to switch. Do not care for the blue color and the only thing that might entice me to switch would be if they come out with a pink iPhone.

The absolute and absolute only way I’m upgrading my 12 Pro Max, is if the Rose Gold color option come back. Rose Gold is my favorite color and I was so sad Apple didn’t bring it out with the 8 and X.

I love my 12. the 11 Pro was too heavy for me and couldn’t wait to upgrade to the 12 once I found out it was lighter. unless there is a ground breaking feature, I plan on keeping this for another year. Probably will upgrade to the 14 if it has under display Touch ID.

The regular size vs. max is a balancing act. One-handed use and pocketability vs bigger screen, battery, and a better (?) camera. For me the screen and battery tipped the scales in favor of the max.

Regardless of how much I can get back on re-sale or trade in, I don't buy a flagship device just to use it for one year and replace it with something just because it has a slightly better camera or faster processor that I don't need.
I kept my last 2 phones (8 Plus and 6) for over 3 years each. I usually don't upgrade until I feel that I'll really experience a difference, and that usually takes a few years of accumulated upgrades.

Don't think many will upgrade from the regular 12 to the regular 13? Mostly just spec bumps.

Pro models will at least gain ProMotion, and camera improvements might mean more to Pro buyers.

My Pro Max is also jailbroken on 14.1
I'm also jailbroken on 14.1 on my regular 12. I'm a little surprised that you have a Pro Max on 14.1 though!

It kind of feels big though... I think a 12 mini would have been better.

However, I'm not planning on upgrading either. Besides, I don't like having to wait for a jailbreak.
I also have the AT&T credits so don’t want to lose those.
Yeah, same here. Also, I'm not a huge fan of iOS 15 anyways.

Just wondering what are the main things you do that requires a jailbreak ?
