Just out of curiosity, how many here, after purchasing and waiting for the new 2021 iPad Pro 12.9 inch with 16 GB of memory will send it back or cancel the order after hearing nothing earth shattering from WWDC that will take it advantage of the 16 GB? I will ? you betcha

This is exactly what Youtubers and Influencers do. I watch a lot of “car Youtubers” people buy new Cars $100,000 TRX Hellcat Truck For example. They film 10 videos in 3 days and Return the car back for a Refund. Same trend for Tech Youtubers. They buy a $8,000 MaC Pro film 10 videos and return the MacPro for a full refund. Same with the 16GB 1TB XDR iPad Pro.
I decided to WAIT for actual comparison videos and side by side videos. Before I buy. I need to see the 14” M1X MacBook Pro before I spend $1200+ on an XDR iPad Pro.

I kind of already did. Cancelled my order for 12'9/1Tb/Cellular - as I really want to want this device, but I don't know what to do with it...

Unless WWDC will bring something something groundbreaking - it will still be what it is now, an iPad. Extremely sleek, powerful iPad. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think we will see a lot of returns once reality sets in and buyers realize that the 2021 model is really not different usage wise than the 2020 model. A lot of people get caught up in the hype around here.

I think iPadOS is going to be another spec bump offering from Apple. I hope I am wrong but, I think people are going to be disappointed.

I’m pretty sure there will be nothing. The top of the line iPad is just too niche to have an app for that and only that
The Extra RAM 16GB is just to help the big hard drives nothing the APP will need and now when M2 goes to production I believe that Apple has too many M1 that no one want that's the reason iPad getting it

This is nonsense. The iPad pro already supported 1tb of drive space with 6 gigs of ram. Also they pipeline products out much further than you seem to think. They didn't just now pivot to use the M processors in iPads. They plan this stuff out way far in advance before they would have had data to suggest whether the silicon macs were selling well or not. And they are selling well. Apple just had a blowout quarter. Literally nothing you said is true.

I will 100% wager they aren't going to announce a 16gb ram exclusive feature, best to not hold your breath on that.

no way they'd alienate their customer base that didn't opt for that, any more than Macs or the ram difference from regular to plus size iPhones in the past, or regular iPhones vs. Pro now

The new iMac 8 GB RAM run OS price is right Why IPAD PRO need 16GB and run IPAD OS ?

So you’re thinking they need to announce something that will be part of the base OS that will “require” 16GB of memory? You spent around $2000 “in the hope” that they “might” release something that will justify this purchase? Honestly, I’m really confused by this.

I’m guessing Someone will find a way to install MacOS on the M1 iPad Pro Or Apple will allow users to switch operating modes between iPadOS and MacOS. In either case 16GB RAM would be awesome!

I completely agree. At some point they might release software that runs more efficiently on 16gb. Memory management with the M1 on Macbooks is really efficient and reduces the need for gobs of memory. I'd be surprised if they released software that won't run on current iPad Airs. And they surely aren't going to release software that makes the 2020 iPad Pros obsolete. What a kick in the face to current owners.

It’s been touted for years since they slapped on the “pro” moniker that pro like software features are just around the bend

I’d buy an iPad with the premise you like the specs and iPadOS. Not with the premise some macOS like variant of iPadOS is gonna drop in mere months

it’s as pro as AirPods Pro, or iPhone pro, or 13” MacBook pro’s

they’d use the word premium if they could but that would suggest the ones without that in the name aren’t premium. So we’re left with the elusive pro name

I don’t think anything will be exclusive to the 16gb models, I just think if they port FCP or Logic to iPad, or something even better like Mac Emulation, the 16GB will be useful. If we get the M1 and 16GB of RAM for new home screen widgets, I’m gonna go ahead and cancel my 1TB order and get a 256.

Agreed. By the time the future comes around with that "more", better iPads would already be released.

Still, WWDC's right around the corner so it wouldn't hurt to see what's coming in the near future for the iPad before deciding on what to buy. Heck, the new 12.9 Pros are backordered until after WWDC anyway. Mind, if Apple announces swap support on iPadOS, that would actually mean less need for 16GB.
