Anyone know if they will allow ppl to line up? Or should one make an appt. for something else? Seems odd to have in store, but not allow queuing.

Both stores here in FL require an appointment to enter the store.

In the past, if you wait until the morning of launch to buy the product and choose pick-up, the next prompt will give you an option of times for picking up the device. The appointment is made at the time of purchase. This is how it’s worked for me during the last few launches; I wait until early morning the day of the launch, then order the device for pickup.

Granted, this was all pre-COVID, but it makes even more sense to do it this way now.

I just spoke to a rep at my store, and he told me that they will have a few, with online ordering for pickup the only option. The store is appointment only due to COVID, and reduced hours, open from 11:00 to 7:00 only.

He couldn’t say which models will be available, nor the exact time at which one can preorder for pickup. He thinks possibly 8 or 9 AM or so. I’m going to check earlier in the day anyway.

I will only do this provided my online order (June 4-10 estimated delivery) hasn’t progressed beyond the “processing stage”, where it is stuck at now.

Looks like the "Pickup Store" option is now selectable in the U.S. Store. Will be checking first thing AM once stores update inventory.

Yea they are ALWAYS wrong. They did that for the past iPad and Galaxy Fold launches and the day they are released it shows "Back Ordered".
My iPad Pro 12.9” and 11” shipped from T-Mobile today to arrive tomorrow launch day. So the dates I was quoted by TMO were correct.

I won’t be using the in store pickup after all. My online order just switched to “preparing to ship”, a pleasant surprise, since the original expected delivery window was June 4-10.

Seems to have been limited stock of the 1TB in Scotland; doesn't look like any left in Glasgow but I've got one reserved or pickup later at my local store in Edinburgh

My Apple order is 'due' Jun 9-23. I do not want it to switch to preparing to ship if that means the order cannot be canceled or returned as I work today for in-store purchases at Apple, BB, etc.

I was actually quite surprised that my order progressed to “preparing to ship”, since I wasn‘t expecting that until sometime next week. I was only planning the pickup in store option as a last resort should there be no action on the online order by today.

Like you, I didn’t want the hassle of trying to return the online order once received. (It can no longer be cancelled once it reaches the preparing to ship stage). It can be done, but it’s a hassle packing it all up and having to send it back, and I can imagine that there would be a return shipping cost as well.

I don’t know whether online orders could be just be returned to one’s local store, and I didn’t check that out.

I’m just glad that my online order is progressing, after being stuck in “processing” for what seems like forever.

You should be fine going ahead with your in store pickup, with your originally expected date later than mine.

Yeah, they weren’t available 30 minutes ago, but are ready to order for pickup/delivery in the Apple Store app.

Store inventory just went live on the West Coast. Just reserved my iPad Pro in LA/CA for this afternoon.
