My daily watch is a Movado Series 800 Chronograph w/black face.

I also have a Rolex GMT Master II (I believe thats the name). It's the stainless steel version. It was a graduation gift from a wealthy relative. It's currently in a safe deposit box.

I will have to dig out pictures of both.

There's a problem with your photo.

Agreed. It takes forever to load - and I have a fast connection and a powerful computer.

Seriously, why not wear it and enjoy getting use out of it?

I'm sure I've posted this before but I thought I'd get in on the vintage Seamaster love-in with my 70's TV dial version.

Do you have any other info and/or photos of the picture. I'm looking ing to pick a similar vintage seamaster

No such thing as JUST a SKX007.

Classic watch. Nice choice!

Isn't the TV shaped dial called a Torneau?

Actually, it would not be my favourite design, as personally, I prefer watches to have a more 'classical' appearance.

Re your question, I believe that the word you are thinking of is 'tonneau', which derives from the French language. As far as I know (and I am by no means an expert on this), the word 'tonneau' describes a watch where the appearance, or shape, is both rounded and oblong, almost like a modified barrel in appearance.

The sort of watches which mimicked TV screens (which were fashionable in the 1970s) were more square in appearance, to mimic the appearance of a TV screen. However, I could be quite wrong on this….

Now, on the other hand, the word 'Torneau' is (as a proper noun) the name of a rather well known watch brand.

Ah, well, when the watch-world meets the letter 'T', my immediate reaction is 'Tudor'…….I am rather partial to some of the old, classic Tudors.

Good call. Some of the classic Princes are lovely. However their new stuff is a cheapened by their strange embellishments choices IMHO.

Strictly speaking, Tourneau isn't a watch brand, and never was. They're a retail chain. Purveyors of many high-end luxury watch brands and no doubt, have commissioned their own 'house' name on a few.

Easy to be confused.

Actually, I had to google them, as I had never heard of them, and I do peruse watch sites. I had assumed that the original post asking had simply misspelled 'tonneau', and so was somewhat surprised to find that an entity called 'Torneau' actually exists.

Reading what I found online, I assumed that they were one of those brands that I had never heard of, hence my post. Thanks for the clarification.

I find myself in agreement with you; I love the old classic Tudors, but am rather underwhelmed by their new models.

Happy to clarify. :) Years spent on Timezone(dot com), among many other horological sites, will strangely affect ones knowledge base.
