Oh, the great German classic.
A brand from a pilot. And Helmut Sinn still lives (99 years old).
Are any of you guys familiar with 'fakewatchbuster' on Instagram? Its a good laugh watching him call out posers who try and pass off fake watches as the genuine article. He's had s few rappers and supposed jewellers to the stars who have been caught out. He sometimes gets a lot of flack, especially from the replica community but the major watch companies applaud him. Worth a look

I think he stopped tagging the owners to save them embarrassment. The watch no doubt belongs to somebody who wants others to think it is a Rolex. In fact it is a plain Chinese watch with a mechanical movement and Rolex stamped on the face. I would say its a pretty awful copy but it is not copying anything other than the brand lol. Another pal of his on Instagram is Rolex Enforcer and he is a little more abrasive with his criticisms of fakers and tags them. Funny reading though.Who's watch is that supposed to be?
That looks nice and elegant and old. Lovely shape. Mind you, the brand name is one I have not come across.
What is its provenance? And how old is it? I'd guess 1940s, maybe 1930s?
Yep it's a brand new Timefactors jobbie styled to look like an original period Smiths. Smiths had an interesting history of watch making - Sir Edmund Hillary famously took one up Everest.
Looks new to me.
Smiths was a major British watchmaker which stopped trading in the late 1970's.
This is one of the homage watches from Time Factors.
You can see the original cushion case design that inspired it in this thread if you're interested:

Thanks a lot for posting this link, (and yes, I am indeed interested) - extraordinarily interesting thread.
Actually, I much say that I love that cushion design - it is classic, elegant and very attractive.
Still in love with this watch but I would like to pick up a Z-blue milgauss as well. I just can't justify two blue watches.
Gorgeous. May your lovely homage to the qualities of horological craftsmanship found in older timepieces wear well on your wrist. Enjoy it.
Very nice indeed. Well wear.
How do you find the fabric strap - for ease of wear and comfort - instead of the factory strap? Is it possible to get leather straps, or do not not much care for them?
Fabric strap is extremely comfortable. But I always go back to steel bracelets on my watches as I tend to wear my watches in wet environments frequently. Leather and cloth don't do very well in that as I'm sure you know.
And yes, this new Tudor Ranger is available in two different leather straps; a traditional two piece calfskin, and a bund strap. Each of those are alternatives to the metal bracelet (so you pick one of the three as a main strap/bracelet) and then the camo strap is included as a second option with each of them. And even after that, you can purchase all the straps separately later if you wish, but it gets less economical to do so. The metal bracelet is $850 stand alone, and the leather straps are $180 for the strap, and then around $250 for the deployment clasp to go on said strap.
