I can't be the only one around here that could care less about the iPhone, even tho it seems that every time the phone is mentioned everyone goes nuts. Im starting to get sick of all this hype and I would like to hear from the anti iPhone crowd here.

A simple poll has been added, yes or no to the iPhone.

great. another one of these threads. if you search this forum, you'll quickly find multiple threads with almost this same exact title....

yg17 doesn't want it. i'm sure he'll chime in here pretty quick.

i'm not getting one but its not because of how hyped it is it just simply because i dont have the money but i would love to have one it looks awesome

not cool, just bored at work. Big difference ;)

vB has an awesome feature called the ignore list. If you really don't want to read my posts crticizing the iPhone, add me to it. I don't care. I wish I could add this entire iPhone forum to my ignore list.

Exactly. If you don't like this forum and don't like hearing about the iPhone, then why in the world would you continue browsing it? That makes no sense to me whatsoever, and threads like these are useless and serve no purpose.

If you're tired of hearing about the hype, then there's a simple solution: don't visit this forum.

Well I can't very well block half the site since that is all I see anywhere a look.

Now if you read the title it is who is NOT getting the phone not who is and wants to tell everyone.

ha! i'm not getting it. i do hate all the hype. i hate engadget and gizmodo posting about it every other post. i hate people fighting over it. i hate.... blah blah blah.

i'll tell you what i don't hate tho. THE iPHONE! i want it more than anything i've ever wanted. :D :D :D

all the iphone hype for me is like... umm....

being in hell, while every around me is talking about and drinking that very very cold glass.

beat me to it...

... not to forget "who is in love here?" .... "someone else (sales person at the store) will touch my iPhone before me OMG OMG ROFLOL IMHO"

I don't hate iPhone, it does have a potential I mean come on .. thats a friggin' fantastic screen on that and a brilliant iPod, but I just can't understand people when they drool forever over functions like "ability to read (-only) word and excel files" .. or "real internet experience .. without Flash".

for some iPhone is a very useful device that they'll cherish for their 2 year contract term ... and for some its just a very expensive novelty that is lacking features they were looking for.

NOW ... this is an open forum and everyone has the right to browse/comment/read threads .. yg17 posts anti-iPhone threads in pro-iPhone forum JUST LIKE you fanboys are posting pro-iPhone posts in an anti-iPhone thread .. stop being hypocrites and practice what you preach .... so loudly.

@topic: not me .. I would love to get one .. but i'll wait till 3rd gen.

I really want and need a new Mac. Yes keep reading this is going somewhere. I hate how the iPhone delayed Leopard and any new Macs till after launch. I want either the rumored aluminum iMac or a revised Mac Pro. In Oct I got a 1.66 Mini refurb to tide me over till Leo/Spring when I planned to get a new Mac. Now I'm not waiting till Leo, just new Macs. While I want a mid-tower, I will settle for a new iMac or Mac Pro and have the money, so I am hoping that they are here in 2-3 weeks.

About the iPhone, it is great, love it, want one, but

1. Under contract till March - which I would break.

2. Would prefer to wait for 8,12 or 8,16 gig model revisions by xmas or MWSF hopefully.

3. Want to see it, touch it, hear the issues it might have, and read reviews on 3rd party stuff, i.e. cases and such. Don't want to be an early adopter ginuea pig.

4. Hopefully a new Mac will be along shortly so I won't have to continue resisting. Yes, I bought an :apple:tv in March just for something new. Great by the way, but would have bought the 160GB.

5. Want to get my new Mac and finish cleaning up address book, photo library and albums (consolidating from 2 macs), and clean up all the track and art data in iTunes all before having a phone to sync with.

I am not getting on now.....have a Nec N908 that is small and dont want to part with it, love the iphone, but as little as i use mine, not worth it......

I'll admit the iPhone had been in 2 places on the forum, the main rumor place, and here(maybe a few other places, but mostly there) The main rumor section would be hard to ignore.

You(not everyone) certainly have not been in people's face about disliking the iPhone, which is a very nice thing to do.

HOT TIP:

If you are using the Forum Spy...you can click Preferences and exclude the iPhone forum from showing up in the Spy.

Then all you have to do is ignore iPhone threads that make the main page or page 2.

Yet, you took the time to create a post about the iPhone. My guess is that you don't hate the iPhone, you have another reason you aren't getting it on launch.

No Canadian carrier

Well, I'd love to get one, but the last I heard was that there was no rush on Apple's part to sign a Canadian carrier, so I guess I'll continue to wait. :(

Aloha everyone,

I was originally going to pass on the gen 1 iPhone, but the more I read about it and see the "instructional videos" showing how easy it is to use (especially as compared to my current cell phone), the more convinced that I want to be on the forefront of the iPhone pioneers. :D

This will go down in history as one of the more life-changing devices created, although the later versions will most likely have us asking why any of us considered buying the gen 1 iPhone anyway, kind of like the iPod. :D

I'll wait a couple of weeks for the rush to end, and to get feedback from users on how good a phone it actually is. After all, that's going to be the most important function. It would be for my wife, since she's technophobic and has troubling learning other phones.

At the same time, I'm hoping that Verizon will try to fight back by doing something silly like, oh say, dropping the price on the XV6700 to $99 like they did one time last year. With 3G, I'd take it in a heartbeat. I don't need flashy stuff, but I do feel the need for wifi-less speed!

Living in Ireland, I'm not getting one... as if I had a choice.

I have to say though, with the long lead-in time for this product (very unusually long for Apple), and the wall-to-wall coverage it has been receiving, it might start to appear jaded quite quickly. I watched the 20 minute demo, and as cool as it was my reaction was "Okay, that's pretty much what I was expecting".

And bear in mind it could be another 6 months or more before we have it here. I'll be bored of it long before I ever get my hands on one! :p

On the other hand, if you're introducting a brand new type of interface which most potential users wouldn't have used very often (a gesture-based touch-screen UI), a little "familiarity through marketing" might not be a bad thing!

I'm not going to be getting one even when it does become available in the UK.

I'm still happy with my Sony Ericsson k750i and iPod video and see no compelling reason to change. :)
