iPhone

I guess I should go start threads in all the mac forums asking anyone if they are not buying a mac like me?

to me, the iphone is meh. the GUI sure seems awesome, but the lack of features for a mid-2007 phone doesn't warrant the contract or the switch to att.

I think age has a lot to do with it.

If your relatively young and inexperienced, then to get all caught up in this type of mass hysteria is understandable.

If your older your an idiot.

sorry

agreed. it's the reason that some iphone threads are getting annoying - i.e. "will [insert website here] look good on iphone," camper threads, etc. seeing those expert-wannabe newbies arguing edge > 3G, virtual KB > real KB, or the iphone is a "portable computer" is just blahhhhhh.

There's not much compelling about the iPhone. Its lacking features and flexibility.

The only thing interesting about it is the UI...

Over hyped... a lot of people are going to be disappointed when they realize how limited and how unexpandable it is.

im not getting one.
1. It doesn't work with my carrier US cellular (uscc.com)
2. The price is way to high, AT MOST it should cost $200-$400
3. You cant run your own apps on it
4. If its going to take the place of my ipod its going to need more space, at least 20 gigs
5. almost everything it does can be done on a $50 phone from your carrier (that is if you dont have verizon) the only thing it would lack is all the eye candy and ease of use. But when it comes right down to it if you take the time to learn how to use your phone then its just as easy to use.

oh but there is one feature that it has the other phones cant do.. it can play back fairplay drm music.
thats about it.
so i dont plan on buying one but i do plan to go to a cingu$#%$^% "AT&T" store about a week after its release and play with it myself

Well, it's not that I "care less" about the iPhone, because I care a lot actually. It's just that I'm not willing to spend $500 or so on a phone. I mean, I'm probably going to wait for Apple to release something with fewer extras, hopefully priced around $200.

I'm not getting one... I can think of quite a few things I'd rather spend $500 on than a phone. (c'mon Apple, where are new iMacs? new Mac Pros?)

I don't talk on the phone that much. It doesn't have enough storage to make a good video iPod... and I don't need a portable address book/calendar/web browser.

Not that I begrudge anybody excited about getting one... I just don't need or want it.

About as useless as a post bitching about how ueseless their posts are... ;)

I wouldn't think so.... maybe... but not definitely. :D

It was a bad move going with anyone. It should've been unlocked GSM.

That would have been the best move... you are right...

As a matter of fact for the price on an iPhone I could buy TWO 500GB hard drives for my Mac Pro.

I think you can get two 750GB HDD for that price if you look on NewEgg. I think the price has gone down recently

Where the hell is my DAMN 6G IPOD!

i guess your 2x 0.5TB are from the apple site
cuz i can get 5 and im in canada (canadians have worse rates for computer equipment)

whats funny is i can get 2x WM phones or nokias for the same price (no contract and unlocked) and i would have a better browser, better battery life, more features and functionality and 3.5G (not only 3G)

i don't have AT&T and i'm not paying a termination fee
I would consider the iphone if it was a bit cheaper, but i could buy so much for $600. Also, it seems like the sensors on the screen would eventually wear out or loose sensitivity.

We should retitle this thread iFUD Central...

Fear - yeah i fear losing $600

Uncertianty - im fairly certian that i dont have all the specs of the phone, apple isnt very good with tech specs

Doubt - i doubt the iphone will have the features i need because apple wont release all the real tech specs,

your right, fud..

Here is what I can't wait for, the "my iPhone was just stolen" thread that we will see hundreds off, and the Apple is in big trouble rumors as the iPhone is a flop.

Sorry, but I been spoiled by Windows Mobile....

if the iPhone didnt limit the third party programs to only web applications, i would definitely consider it.

I think one of the problems is that people feel they are getting ripped off for too little.

Why? Because you don't like constructive criticism of your beloved iPhone? Because you can't see that not every one thinks the iPhone is so great as the hype suggests?

Any article that is negative towards iPhone is 'inaccurate' or trolling... whilst, any pro articles are accepted as truth without question.

Possibly the first time anyone has ever felt spoiled by Windows.

But as for me I won't be getting an iPhone. Not because I don't want one but because I'm going to college in 2 months and can't justify the large purchase or the cost of switching to AT&T.

I think the iPhone is very sweet and revolutionary, and I'd love to have one. BUT, i can't picture myself spending $500 on a phone, and then turning around and paying $60/month for the cheapest plan. If i wanted to add my wife, it would be around $100 a month, that's a lot more than i pay right now.

So, i can't justify the cost. Think about it, if you spend $80 a month on your plan for 2 years, that's $1920, plus $500 for the phone. That's the price of a new MBP, or an iMac with another external ACD, or tons of other things.

But, it is cool.

If you haven't seen the plans thread in the news, you're in for a laugh if you think some of the crap here is bad. :D

Those plans listed on the front page look very expensive. Though if you consider all you can eat internet - then its not too bad.. however paying $59.99 is not cheap.

As I pointed out in that thread, compared to competition, it's expensive.

$60 isn't bad for minutes, sms and data. The problem is the number of minutes you get.

AND OMG DID NE1 SEE IN TEH ACTIVATION VID ITZ AN 80 GIG IPHONE??//////EXTRASLASHESANDQUESTIONMARKSLOL
