sadly, me....right now anyway

I was going to get one on launch day, but I just bought a 40inch LCD and a PS3 last wednesday, so I think I'm gonna wait a month or two now. Read a few reviews, see how people are liking it.

I still see myself getting one, just probably not Friday.

great. another one of these threads. if you search this forum, you'll quickly find multiple threads with almost this same exact title....

yg17 doesn't want it. i'm sure he'll chime in here pretty quick.

You again... leave us haters alone :D

not cool, just bored at work. Big difference ;)

vB has an awesome feature called the ignore list. If you really don't want to read my posts crticizing the iPhone, add me to it. I don't care. I wish I could add this entire iPhone forum to my ignore list.

Why...? Then we can't come in here and post our.. "I hate the iPhone and iPhone pot heads" threads and annoy the crap out of cmschmidt

Well I can't very well block half the site since that is all I see anywhere a look.

Now if you read the title it is who is NOT getting the phone not who is and wants to tell everyone.

I did start one of these... not complaining that you did though... and a very useful caring member gave me a list of all of MacRumor's stories... and there was only a mere 20% that were iPhone related in anyway shape or form. The rest were just silly.

I really want iPod touchscreen rumors, but we can't always win.

Well folks I think iPhone is cool but this hype is WAY out there.

Everyone is sooo excited about an object they have never even seen or touched and which has scant reviews at best.

(I'm thinking of a certain Ruler and his lack of-attire.)

Nevertheless,

I want one :p

Just surfed through some of those "Where are you getting your iPhone" and "Let's meet up and get our iPhones together" threads and they are mindless

I don't know how so many people can be so empty headed and create that much useless info on the web.

well i think it looks amazing but im not getting it for two reasons

1. i have verizon :(
2. i dont have enought cashflow :(

I'm not going to be getting one even when it does become available in the UK.

I'm still happy with my Sony Ericsson k750i and iPod video and see no compelling reason to change. :)

I have those two as well and live in Europe. During the keynote I watched with glee as my phone (and all other) turned into garbage in my hand, and my iPod doesn't look too hot anymore either. Now I am dtermined to import an iPhone ASAP, whatever it takes.

importing it is easy. using it without incurring outrageous roaming charges is the hard part

and now, suddenly, all other phones are garbage? damn fanboys

i'm getting one. screw all you guys.

Okay... well done... but in getting an iPhone... aren't you screwing yourself. :D

Yeah... I agree. The iPhone changed the way phones will be made, not destroyed every existing one. I just hope Palm gets off their butts and give me a new UI with the Treo.

I dont think it changes anything. At first, I thought it was innovative, until specs and "features" slowly started coming out. Perhaps the only interesting thing is multi touch. Music player? My phone has it. Web browser? My phone has it. E-mail? You bet. Touch screen? Yep. Video playback? Take a wild guess. Need I go on? Its the same stuff phones have had for years, just in a new interface. big deal. New phones with new interfaces come out all the time, but no one cares because it isn't Apple.

Oh, and to anyone who lives in the UK and is saying that they're going to get an iPhone no matter what, even if it means paying roaming charges? I just looked. $1.29/minute. Enjoy :D

I'm not going for the iPhone, mainly 'cause I was hoping for a smartphone/ultra-portable Mac, but instead we're getting a phone enabled iPod.

It bears repeating that this is exactly the same kind of argument people have used and continue to use against the iPod, which continues to eat other MP3 players for lunch.

It remains to be seen if the interface will be a "hit" or not.

I think age has a lot to do with it.

If your relatively young and inexperienced, then to get all caught up in this type of mass hysteria is understandable.

If your older your an idiot.

sorry

The advantage the iPod has was that it was early to the market. Back then, not everyone had MP3 players. Its probably a lot easier to gain new customers in a market than convert existing ones. If the iPod was first coming out this Friday, I wouldn't expect it to do so well either. People already have phones, and I don't think the iPhone offers a compelling reason why people should ditch their current phone (in some cases, several hundred dollars) and buy an iPhone. Its a lot easier for people to spend $500 on a gadget when they don't already have one that has the same features and capabilities.

Also, keep in mind that the iPod didn't require a 2 year contract or a monthly plan to use it. And it didn't require switching providers and whatnot.

Still, I think the iPhone will be a hit....the overall market is bigger, and Apple doesn't need to make people think they need a cell phone, just that when people want a new cell phone, they should get an iPhone.

iPod was different, Apple had to make people want an Mp3 player all together, then make people want Apple's Mp3 player.

Overall iPod and iPhone are two different ball games, and the iPhone will bring new problem for Apple's marketing team, but also they won't face of the problems they had with iPod

Count me in please. I love all the buzz on the iPhone, but first I still have a contract with my beloved T-mobile and I want even more features on the iPhone. :D

Can't afford one.

I blew all my money on a [defective] new MBP. I think that sums up my thoughts about Apple's gadget quest...

You make the best argument... as per the millions of threads about people meeting up to camp out for an iPhone.

Don't try to explain that to iPhone lovers they just won't understand that. To them it is the best thing since sliced bread or the Mac.

I don't think the "when people want a new cell phone, they should get an iPhone" marketing plan will work. It might have worked if the phone was open to all service providers and subsidized but since it is stuck with Cingular and for 5 years no less it will be the worst thing yet. Now you are stuck with Cingular's expensive data plans when Sprint has better ones cheaper, and you are stuck with a phone with a most likely built in SIM card that you can't swap out. Not to mention that there is NO INSURANCE on your $600 phone which Verizon and Sprint both offer.

I just think it was a bad move going with Cingular.

I'm still sitting on the fence on this one.I have a Qwest cellphone.I just use it to call on.No fancy music, calendar, web surfing etc..

I see no real need to get one.But..

I Want one..

Why ?

It was a bad move going with anyone. It should've been unlocked GSM.

I'm not anti-iPhone. It's pretty cool. But it's just not worth the money for me. My SE W810i does everything I need really. Sure it doesn't have the cool interface, but for the few minutes per day I interact with my phone it doesn't matter that much.

About as useless as a post bitching about how ueseless their posts are... ;)
