Who's NOT getting an iPhone

I'll get one when I graduate in a year, but not for now. Besides, I have to wait until they are in Canada. But I wouldn't want one without 3G. I normally don't buy the first revision of a product, like I did with my Macbook Pro. But my Powerbook was stolen and I needed another machine right away.

I hate the iphone. i hope they all mysteriously ooooze oil from their guts, causing people to drop and break them and the iphone will scream in pain as it leaves this mortal coil.

I am getting a chuckle about the people asking if they will keep their iPod after getting the iPhone. If I was listening to music the last thing I want is a phone call to interrupt the song. Not to mention that you don't have nearly the capacity of the iPod to carry all the music anyways.
so you're saying when you currently listen to your iPod you turn your phone off? or do you just ignore the calls because "you're listening to a song and can't be bothered". this makes no sense.
If you're listening to music and you see your phone ringing, you're going to pause your music and pick up the damn phone...exactly what the iPhone does for you.
I'm with you. The iPhone will sell, but I don't think it's that good. I think it is hyped, a lot. I don't want one.

But with the announcement of the plans, it has became a "hell no."
I can't use voice, so I was planning to get a data-only plan. AT&T's other phones has it for $29.99 a month. I thought it logical that the iPhone would follow that trend. The iPhone does not. I am not going to pay $60 a month, of which $40 goes to something I can't use.
AT&T and Apple are idiots here.

you're right. AT&T (a cell PHONE company) who's primary function is and always has been, even before data on phones existed, to provide VOICE service to customers, are idiots because they don't want to sell you a data only plan...

Resistance is futile...I led some of the earliest anti-iPhone protests (see my posts here and here). But now, while I'm not rushing out to get one...I'm considering it when my current phone decides to die on me.
Uhh, sure? Have you ever heard of the Blackberry? And the plenty of smartphones AT&T sells... that has a data-only plan option!
The fact that they have been selling voice service for over a century is irrelevant here.
I am deaf, and use the Blackberry, as well as a T-Mobile Sidekick before that, to communicate. The iPhone is an amazing device for doing that. It would perform just great with a data-only plan.
Yes, they are idiots for not providing that option, because there are many people out there who would love to use the iPhone for it's data features.

To be honest, the iPhone does look quite nifty. But I imagine it'd be a rip off price if it ever came over here.
However, what it has made me appreciate is the way Apple rarely announce things before they're released. Constant "When is the next iMac update?!?!?!?" threads are marginally less tedious than "OMGGgzzzzz!! I deamt about getting my iPhone last night...can't wait till friday!1" posts.
