Considering the amount of android phones that have the notch nowadays, you might want to switch the argument to the lack of chin instead of the notch.

I have no idea what Android is doing. I'm an Apple customer. I don't look at competing products.

The notch separates the Iphone apart from every single phone that looks the same currently out.

No matter how one tries to justify the "notch". It's still a tacky design. I try to overlook it, but I would have gladly lived with a little chin and forehead for a more symmetrical look.

As I said, in the same post you quoted in fact, you're inventing screens that don't exist, you're making up numbers, you're assuming screens are the same height when they're not, you've demonstrated a lack of critical thinking, you don't understand the fundamentals of geometry and mathematics in general and you keep moving the goalposts. You claim Apple is taking up space they don't need to. The onus is on you at this point to prove your claim. Previous attempts have been failures. We're now on page 7 and no well thought out argument has been put forth. My gut says not to waste my time waiting for it.

I've answered your questions AND pointed out what is wrong with your diagram. And not for the first time.

I am saying if both screens are the SAME SIZE.
I am just trying to disproved the misconception that notch actually gives your more effective screen viewing size.

Go and put your XS or X together with a S9 (both have 5.8in) and align the screens and see.
I know what you gonna say. Different width & height. S9 has slight shorter screen (due to aspect ratio) so it is even at a more disadvantage. I bet S9 effective viewing height is not less than XS/X after subtracting the status bar on both.

btw: if you auto-hide the top status bar (which you can do on Android and not Iphone :) ), you can have even more viewing area. So there are much better way to do it than having the ugly notch.

You referenced recognizing an Apple product outside in the world (hence why you said "on the smartphone market"), not in the inner circle of people that just use Apple products. So, I've said that it's better to move to the chin argument. Since you say you don't follow competitors, then I assume my chin argument switch is a good idea?

Do you think the iPhone 11 will have a notch?
Definitely (but I think it'll be smaller). I also thought the iPhone 12 would have it for sure, but there are phones with just holes in the screen for the camera/sensors supposedly on the horizon, so I can see Apple maybe going that way instead, possibly by 2020.

Only a guess, won't be the first time I'm wrong.

Take a look at this video.

Look at the status bar of XS Max and Note 9.
See how much wasted space the status bar on the XS max takes up compared to the status bar of note 9.

Note 9 may have a shorter screen but looking at video excluding the status bar note9 still have a same or more viewable vertical screen area (eventhough note9 has 6.4in screen compared to 6.5in of xs max)

Does the notch give you more screen space like those ifans were saying?. NO!!!

Genuinely wondering (I'm sure this has been asked before).
True, id still prefer slightly larger bezels just like iPad Pro while retaining its 84.4% body to ratio estate just to get rid of the (Devilish) Demonian Notches!!!! Theres also a rumour than iPhone XI will slightly reduce the notch size similar to samsung and oppo series.

They thought that the notch looked cool at the time and is a design feature. After seeing so many android phone makers also do the notch, they probably got embarrassed by it and tried to cover it with their new iphone Xs wallpapers. The notch got old real fast, and it didn't help with so many other phone makers adopting it like google, doing a bad job with it, cheapening it and making it very common and "frowned" upon. As for the top bezel, I don't think it would look good with the iphone. The notch makes the area around it closer to the top, and on iphones. I thought it looked good as iphones don't have a big bottom bezel, and most of the corners look symmetrical aside from the notch.

The notch is really dumb. It'll go down as one of the most embarrassing design decisions ever. Wait till the notchless phones come out: all the notchers will be ditching their phones in a jiffy.

There are phones without notches already.
It will be totally gone in a couple year when a portion of the OLED screen can be disabled so a camera can peek through.
