Lol, just helped my aunt buy a 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 yesterday. She dropped and broke her 2017 12.9 (sadly no AC+) and she can't be without the iPad for even a day. Talk about bad timing.
Thank you for making a sacrifice.
Id say the majority of those "Leakers" on twitter have absolutely NO clue what they are talking about, they just pull stuff out of their butts for twitter traffic..
Most of the people on this list are people who share leaks through Twitter. There are obviously fake leakers out there, but that's just what it is. Obvious...

Well, not my money so not my sacrifice. ? It was $1500 (256GB LTE cheapest model available at the local Best Buy + case + AppleCare+) so that would be major ouch for me. ?

I've got a Pro 9.7, Pro 12.9 2nd gen, Pro 10.5, Air 3 and 7th gen. I can't live without my iPad either but I've got plenty of backups in case of a failure. ?

i Keep thinking about the reports that production started in mid to late April. If that’s true won’t it push release back until at least late May if not June ?

But then you have Kang (with apparently the best rumour accuracy rating) saying mid April for launch.

It'll come when it comes of course, but the guessing and intrigue is fun to watch.

I so hope he’s right. I fear they will announce and then for delivery in May.

And you’re totally right, half the fun is just trying to guess when it’s coming, seeing all the predictions and then watching everyone who was wrong try to alibi out of it.

That could potentially just be the 5G models as more recent rumours are suggesting the WiFi models will come first with the 5G models later...

That’s what I fear, looking to get cellular model this time
I am looking at WiFi only, but either would be fine for me, I barely ever use cellular with my iPads, so not really a necessity for me personally.

I can see the advantages though when out and about.

Well while traveling it should come in handy. First one with it, so we’ll see. Work iPad has it and it is very useful.

I can always turn it off, but Verizon has a deal where you pay half normal rate with certain unlimited plans, so for $15 a month it looks like it would be worth it just for the convenience of it.

$15 a month simply to not have to pair with a phone, that probably would be better at it anyway. But you don’t know till you try it. Heavy mobile iPad use, it could be rather handy.

Hotel WiFi is a crap shoot, and pairing with a phone is easy, but wtf. A decent hotel is goin to be ok with the WiFi, I’m thinking. Didn’t used to be that way just a few years ago. I’ts importance in the hierarchy of amenities, has steadily risen.

That’s my plan. If it proves to not be worth it I can always turn it off. But $15 is covered by just a little conveyance

But phone plans that allow tethering via wifi are also more expensive. So it’s either pay extra to have cellular equipment on your tablet and pay for that separate data plan, or add a tethering option to your existing cell plan. Both cost more.

On ee in the UK I am pretty sure all plans allow for personal hotspot, never known to have to pay more for it over here.

Yah, can only speak for Canada, but most phone plans that majority of ppl are on include tethering with your data allotment.

For me, I've never seen the need to get the cellular version. I don't use my iPad enough outside of the home to make it worth it, if I need it I can tether to my phone, and the actual iPad itself costs a decent amount more than the wifi-only version. So cost-benefit doesn't make sense for me, but I can see for power users on the road, it might.

I have to highlight the following line from the article:

‘As a result of the delay, Apple has pushed back a portion of component orders for the two devices from the first half of this year to the second half, the people said.’

With this statement, I assume apple has merely just reduced its order size down a bit to relieve the pressure, now in regards to how much this has been reduced hasn’t actually been released, this could just be 10% reduction, which will have a small impact on availability after initial launch.

This article in no way means a launch isn’t still happening, it just means after the initial stock has gone, consumers might be waiting a while to receive their new iPads.

I sure hope that holds true. My paranoia says they are delayed to second half of the year. And I want a new IPad ?‍?

It's marketing, Apple is planting the seed in consumers mind that these items will be impossible to get, knowing full well that translates into increased sales. Anyone who was sitting on the fence and thought they'd hold off a few months will see the items listed and will mortgage their house to be sure to get one as soon as possible for "fear" that they'll otherwise never be able to.

It's a shame that 2021 has created this environment where customers are being treated with so much disrespect.

Hype builds demand, demand builds supply— ps5, AirPods Max
Hype is valuable, but it's being taken advantage of this cycle, by pretty much all electronic/technology producers. This is also going to lead to a rush of monopolization by resellers "scalpers" who will be buying iPads by the dozens or even hundreds with the expectations of reselling them online for two or three times the MSRP. It's a terrible situation all the way around. Originally I had planned to purchase a new generation iPad Pro but if we are entering this rabbit hole together I will keep out and instead buy a Galaxy Tab S7 for next to nothing.

Bloomberg is doubling down on a release later this month
When I read an Apple 'rumor' from Bloomberg, I usually figure Apple is unofficially feeding them information for the hype machine. Additionally, App Store Connect is going to be down on 4/24 for maintenance. So, here's my theory:

- press release on 4/20 announcing new iPads
- iOS/iPadOS 14.5 RC on 4/20
- iPad available to order on 4/23, delivers 4/30
- iOS/iPadOS general release on 4/27
