Inside A Mac Box
Sincerely,

I’ve been buying Apple products since I was 16 years old (iPod Touch; iPod Nanos)

Now comes the time where I can actually buy more of Apple, just wondering how others have come here to talk about Apple and why they choose to buy their products.

Cheers 🍻

The biggest selling point of Apple for me is the ecosystem. The interconnectedness of devices and software experience that Apple products offer is unmatched, and it’s not even close. My phone, tablet, watch, headphones, desktop computer, laptop computer, and TVs through the house are all connected and can share audio, video, documents, whatever you want immediately and in very useful ways. No other company can even come close to matching this.

Hardware longevity, privacy, and quality are also important to me, but it’s really that ecosystem that keeps me coming back.

I just like how Apple products felt. My first computer was a Sony Vio. Ok laptop. Then I got a 2nd gen iPod, which led my to my first iMac sunflower style. Then led to the MacBook white. Later on iPhones of course. Numerous iPods. I like these apple devices because they work with each other. My iPad, iPhone, MacBook Pro, Apple Watch all work with one another. Of course further software updates throughout each year bringing more integration with one another (screen sharing with iPads and Mac, unlock Mac with Apple Watch). I’ve never got into androids phones. I tried 3x.

I’m getting into PC gaming with my 16 in MacBook Pro (first time playing pc games). And it’s really fun so I can imagine buying a pc rig down the line for gaming which would be a first pc in 20 yrs since highschool.

My car, a Tesla is the most Apple like in terms of vertical integration. It has good and bad side similar to how Apple has good and bad about their side of its vertical integration. But all in all the ongoing software support bringing new features is similar to iPhone, iPads, Apple products and bringing that to a car is tremendous!
Often times, people have ideas, they tweet them to Elon, and months later it’s comes as a software update. My car has tons of things it can do that it couldn’t and was not able to do when I bought it last year. Again similar to Apple product.

1. Ease of use
2. Ecosystem
3. Aesthetics. Compare a standard PC box to the new MacPro case.
4. OS Software. In Windows I"m always having to tweak it. Have to install a driver, etc. MacOS just works. However no longer rock solid. T2 has introduced kernel crashes, lots of Catalina issues after almost a year. First time I haven't upgraded to the latest MacOS.
5. Apple support. Best in the industry
6. Apple stores. Always a pleasure to visit

Clutter free, works reliably and doesn’t require or offer any over the top customisation options. Also the Apple design triggers my OCD reward system.

Also the support and university of iOS.

I went from a Nokia to an iPhone 3GS. The advertising for that was what got me and it’s been a happy spiral of apple products since then. Admittedly I have had 2 Samsung’s in the mix but not for long. I love how everything just flows together

I realise I cannot answer the question honestly. My latest Apple purchase was my iPhone, and I well know a cheapo Android at a tenth of the price would have served all practical purposes. Although I could talk of system integration, of production quality, of ongoing support for older products, possibly I would be fooling myself, perhaps I'm a fool for cool.

I bought things (regardless of brand) if it fits my needs and wants. So one of my major Apple product purchase was the iPhone 7 Plus. I bought it earlier this year because it has become the cheapest smartphone with IP rating (quite ironic isn't it, Apple product being the "cheapest"), considering Samsung stops putting IP rating on their recent Galaxy A lineup, forcing people to buy their more expensive Galaxy S phones.

I can see the draw of Apple as a brand these days, especially for those attracted to the Apple's aesthetic and their stance as a brand in things like privacy and software support.

I have been a fan of Apple going as far back as I can remember. I used the Apple IIe in elementary school, then got an Apple IIgs for Christmas 1987. I had used the Mac (and loved it) before getting the IIgs, so GSOS was not unfamiliar to me given that it was basically System 2/3 ported to the Apple II series. Since then, I have owned a PowerBook 145b, Performa 630CD, then went away from Apple for the duration of the PowerPC era before jumping back in with a 2012 MacBook Pro, then a 2014 15" Pro. I have had at least one Apple product continuously since then, because the fit and polish of the OS is second to none, and the devices just work seamlessly together.

I do also own a Chromebook and a Windows gaming laptop - the former for website and app testing, the latter for gaming and the bulk of my photo editing. My MBA has quickly become my go to device along with my iPad Pro for anything else though, especially now that Sidecar is a thing. The ability to make my Mac dual screen without having to carry a second monitor and/or a monitor cord with me has changed the way I use this laptop.

Started using Iphone since 2014 when the big screen iphone 6 plus is launched and no looking back since then.
i)simple UI and reliable
ii) Software and hardware I still have my backup iphone 6 plus. its still a solid phone except few hickups here and there in few apps. But ya its showing its age. Hey but remember its 2014 iphone.
iii)Customer support
iV) Resale value for this iphone in my home country is still around 150-200 US$
v) Finally Ecosystem

I may never ever go back to android phone as my primary phone just for my backed up data in icloud alone even if android really catch ups with IOS in the points mentioned above.

I’m a very recent convert to the Apple ecosystem. This time last year there were no Apple products in my home, other than my old iBook clamshell.
Now my partner and I both have the XR and an S5 LTE watch. She has a 2017 MacBook Air now, I bought a 2011 mini to replace our terrible network file sharing arrangement and we have the current 64gb 4K Apple TV in the living room.
I had always been a diehard Linux user and an advocate of privacy and security, I’m also a first year cyber security student.
The move to Apple and their ecosystem started with her XR and MacBook. I saw the integration between the two and the simplicity of it compared to my hack of a system between my BlackBerry keyone and self hosted Linux server with multiple machines I had been using on a daily basis.
The possible move to ARM for Macs at the time was a massive game changer for me, as I’m a huge fan of the RISC architecture.
I have an MSI gaming laptop now to run Windows and Linux VM’s and will be purchasing an iPad for university later this year, with the addition of an ARM Mac next year.
Discovering new possibilities with Apple has immensely streamlined everything for us and taken a huge load off me whilst studying for my BSc degree, as now my time spent dealing with network problems at home just dropped to nonexistent.

I would say ecosystem makes it pretty impossible to leave. iMessage/Apple play (samsung pay doesn’t work here)

Software works great and you get the latest OS updates straight away. I get notifications on time while android i had issues with this

May try note 20 ultra but i fear i will come back due to the same issues...samsung hardware is the best though

Quality, design, fit-and-finish of the products.
Ecosystem and how it all interconnects really well.
General reliability and pretty good support when things do go wrong.

Concur with the plus points from the above, and the most important thing to me is they have (with quite a few exceptions) adhered to these principles, compared to their rivals:

IMG_4036.jpg

  1. Good design is innovative
  2. Good design makes a product useful
  3. Good design is aesthetic
  4. Good design makes a product understandable
  5. Good design is unobtrusive
  6. Good design is honest
  7. Good design is long-lasting
  8. Good design is thorough down to the last detail
  9. Good design is environmentally friendly
  10. Good design is as little design as possible

For iPad: There's nothing else that really competes with it on every level. Samsung tablets are less annoying than Samsung phones, but not by enough to excite me into wanting to buy another. iPads are awesome and they've changed the way I do computing.

For iPhone: Being able to send SMS texts from my iPad is pretty great. The option of the Apple Watch is great even though I am not huge on it all the time. The notes app doesn't seem to have a substantial Android alternative.

For Apple TV: Honestly, I'm not impressed and I might not replace it with another Apple TV, but you never know.

For Mac: With Catalina's culling of so many apps and games that I used to use, I'm mainly keeping with the Mac platform because I do IT by trade. I have 26 Apple certifications along with 3 JAMF certifications, and even if I deal with Windows for the rest of my IT career, it seems foolhardy to not stick with the platform enough to know how to support and engineer for it effectively. But for personal use, after 17 years, it's quickly giving way to Windows 10.

High performance-price ratio. I have bought a Samsung phone and it becomes so slow in 2 years. Though iPhone is a bit more expensive, my iPhone6 bought almost 4 years ago still working fine.

For me it is just the ease of the ecosystem and how easy it is to link devices together.

I have owned various iPhones and iPads plus lots of Android devices. I always find myself back with Apple products even though I love to try new things they just don't work as well as Apple.

Also for me it is Apple themselves. It is hard to explain but there always seems to be something so special about buying a product from Apple whereas other competitors i.e Samsung or Huawei are never on the same level of excitement when making a purchase.
