For me being Android user for long time since HTC wildfire up until my recent S20 I got sick of Samsung in house build chips and slow updates, We get crappy exynos processor in Australia. Bad battery and heat is what put me off Samsung and Android altogether, slow updates are the worst.

I mean over years it’s gotten better but not good enough and there’s always some catch so I got sick of it.

3.5 - 4 Sot out of latest hardware with 4000mah battery is just not enough. And inbuilt apps not working as they should like Android auto wireless cutting out on toll

I could go on but now I own 11 pro and couldn’t be happier, battery is so good and performance and smoothness of iOS is on another level.

Also ordered my AirPods Pro which should be here tomorrow :)

Somewhere!
Ease of use.
Support.
Software.
Longevity.
Design.
Price. (You pay more but you get more)

I could go on. I have been using Apple for many years with relatively few issues on the hardware side of things. And the one time I had an issue under warranty Apple replaced the item new. Their support and quality of product has been spot on.

Down south
I got into the Apple ecosystem nearly 20 years ago with an eMac. My windows computer had crashed twice in 6 months, and my computer repair guy recommended I try a Mac. I’ve never looked back. My kids all had iBooks back when we were home schooling. They all had iPods/iPod touches, nanos, shuffles, etc. My husband still has a shuffle he clips on his shirt while he’s mowing - I think it has like 10 Pearl Jam albums on it.

We got the first iPhone, and have all had just about every iPhone since the 3GS. I’ve had several iMacs, and nearly every iPad ever released, and now keep all my grandchildren in iPads.

My daughters have had MacBooks (I’m not a laptop fan). Several of us have Apple watches, AirPods, etc.

The Apple ecosystem just works. Everything flows perfectly and intuitively. I just can’t imagine NOT using Apple products.

I used to trash Apple to my friends, but after getting into the graphic design industry where every job had a Mac I was forced to use them. I was forced to use them in school too. By 2002 I was having problems with my PC and realized that with a Mac, you could cripple it and it was still able to put out work on a deadline.

I was given my first Mac and from there I got into Apple based on price.

Apple is extremely cheap if you're behind the curve. You get high quality for low prices. I am typing this message on a 2008 15" MBP running Mojave. A couple of thousand dollars new, it was shipped to me free and I paid nothing for it.

I own several old Macs and the most I've paid for any of them since 2009 has been around $250. With the price of components I have systems that would have cost upwards of $10k new for barely anything. And I can do anything with them that more modern Macs can do.

As far as ecosystem, Apple shut me out of that early. My first iPhone full purchase, the iPhone 5, would not sync with my PowerBook G4 running Leopard. I was forced to find alternatives. And I did. I continue to use those alternatives, despite being able to use most of the modern ecosystem stuff now.

I don't buy the 'trapped in the ecosystem' argument. It's a choice. Either the alternatives are not attractive enough or there is too much work involved. But there ARE alternatives.

I use a Pixel 3a XL now and I can still use iMessage on it. How? I have AirMessage and a 2009 Mac Mini running in the background that connects to iMessage.

Sincerely,

I’ve been buying Apple products since I was 16 years old (iPod Touch; iPod Nanos)

Now comes the time where I can actually buy more of Apple, just wondering how others have come here to talk about Apple and why they choose to buy their products.

Cheers 🍻
The quality is better than most other tablets including the chipsets inside the tabs...just more pricey than most other manufacturers.

Ecosystem. All close family members have iPhones/Macs/Macbooks/iPads/Apple Watches/Apple TV. Wife and I can share folders in icloud. And I love Apple Music.

I'm moving back to Windows when I build my next gaming PC, but I'm probably going to stick with iPhone for the foreseeable future. It's a way more fun experience with my lady having two iPhones than with Android. It'll be a lot nicer when subscription sharing comes out in iOS 14.

Are you not concerned that your lady has two iPhones? One may be for communicating with a "special" person. ;)

I'm not really a fan of Apple products, but I have a lot of Apple shares, so buying Apple products is like giving money to myself.

Seeing all the people in this thread trapped in the Apple ecosystem brings tears to my eyes. Thank you all. I am financially independent today due to your contributions.

Well, once Blackberry went the Android route, I had little choice:cool: Tried an Android phone, but I couldn't get with it, so purchased a 6S Plus shortly after it came out and never looked back.

I buy Apple products because of privacy, security, tight integration and ecosystem.

I'm deaf so I use my Apple Watch as my primary alarm clock to wake me up in the morning. Apple Watch have unlimited alarm modes whereas bed shaker is unreliable and have two alarm settings.

Years ago when started opening apple stores in malls I walked in and a person greeted me and stayed with me until I left. Answering all my questions and never tried pressure selling me. I was really impressed with their personal service. Too bad it doesn't exist today. Today you stand in line to give your name and then wait in another line until your name is called. Now I just buy on line but sure would spend more money if I was actually at a store.

Good question.
I don't consider myself an Apple fanboy by any means, despite using mostly apple products. In the last 12 years I've tried to go Android three times, and have come back to iPhone each time. I tried to go PC, came back to Mac. What has brought me back? The following:

1. Ironically, the ecosystem of Android and PC. Its actually very easy to leave the Apple ecosystem, easier than ever now that music and TV are multi-platform, and I challenge people to change their thinking about this: maybe its "hard" to leave the ecosystem because you actually prefer it? (I won't say better because that's subjective). I have multiple email accounts, and calendars: a mix of work and personal. Work uses G-Suite. Personally I have a different email and calendar. Android integrates well with G-Suite, terrible with everything else. Windows handles IMAP great through outlook, terrible integration with G-Suite especially as there is zero calendar integration. Apple Mail and Calendar seamlessly handle everything with no fuss, and using anything else seemed like a compromise.

2. Visual voicemail in iOS. I get a lot of calls throughout the day and it is very inefficient to have to dial voicemail to get to the call back number every time. Now that voicemails are transcribed its even better. I'm not sure if android has an equivalent now, but as recently as last year when I tried out the Samsung S10 this was a huge issue.

3. Apple hardware has historically had better build quality, especially iphone/ipad/airpods compared to their android equivalents, in my opinion. Macs may be the exception now as they have lost some of the magic they had from 2007-2015. But still, I can run windows on my mac and it won't come loaded with manufacturer specific bloatware like any non-surface PC laptops. I'm not sure how apple silicon will change this for me but I have a 2020 macbook pro with the "good keyboard" that I hope will allow me to not have to worry about this for 5-6 years.

4. Apple support has, in my experience, been better. Being able to book an Apple Store appointment and get things resolved that way is huge for me.

5. Reliability. Maybe I've been lucky, but I have had very reliable Apple hardware that has served me well for years with no issues. I tend to stick with things that work. If this changes in the future, I will rethink Apple.

I think it was tongue in cheek lol

Two iPhones though, are they differing sizes for different occasions?
I have five iPhones and a Pixel 3a XL…and an HTC Touch Pro.

Two of them have active SIMs. My wife doesn't question it at all because she has no need to. :p

Trapped in the ecosystem with no path to escape.
Not really trapped. It’s just other options aren’t attractive enough to switch to. Plus Apple hasn’t done anything particularly egregious that would make me want to switch.

Mind, I use Windows PCs. It’s just our smartphones and tablets that are Apple.

Mac user since 128k in 1985
oldest currently-functioning device is a 4g 40gb iPod
I have to use Windows at work, and the difference is fairly stark
fortunately work also supplies me with an iPhone
originally it was the elegant design of box, o/s and interface - still is now
ecosystem also works for me
