Because working at an Apple Store is not really a big deal. You don't have to be especially knowledgeable or professional. I think Apple might even like the look or young people selling their products.

I for one support tattoos in the workplace, its not 1953. Just because someone has some ink it doesnt make them less of a human. If you have an issue where you feel you are being ignored then bark to Apple about it.

I also thought about this. Many Apple Store employees look very unprofessional with long, greasy hair and bad teeth. At least that's the case here, in the UK.

I just can't remember ever seeing an Apple Store assistant or Genius that I would have fancied going out with.

Not as that bad at my store. I had an interview back in like, '07 and didn't get the job. Was a high school junior then with barely any job experience, but I explained tech stuff really well, but I was going against people with degrees and Best Buy sales experience.
Sad though. Sometimes I go in and ask questions to employees when I already know the answer to see what they say. Sucks when I know more about the product than they do.

They intentionally look for people with a "unique" look so that you will remember the experience. I've always had great luck with the employees at my local store, they have always been very attentive and helpful.

Tattoos, long hair, etc. When people walk in to buy a premium product, they expect premium service. I've heard employees walk in saying "another day in paradise" sarcastically. A lot of them just talk to each other instead of helping customers. It just really annoys me because I'm 17, have persuaded friends to buy countless Macs/iPhones, and truly exhibit passion for the product. Meanwhile, these "hipsters" get the job.

Isn't that the whole point of Apple? Like the Mac VS. PC ads. They aren't stuffy people in suits selling you something boring, they're hip people selling you something cool.

I'd rather have a scruffy looking person that can do their job than someone who got there because they can put a suit on.

I recently went to an apple hiring event but got no further... Absolutely gutted really wanted the job would have been amazing and I know allot about apple and all the products. Guess it was down to job experience which I have little of... Oh well they said I can try again in 6 months and I will!

Play My Chemical Romance, The All-American Rejects, Fall-Out Boy, or Panic! At The Disco ridiculousy, deafingly loud on your iPod when you walk in, and you should get the job.

Oh, oh! One more thing. Don't forget the "I couldn't care less, and am superior to you attitude," and you'll be fine.

Wow, what an elitist. I like employees with a "hipster" look. I can relate to them more than employees who look down on customers and speak condescendingly to them. Plus, Apple is a retail store just like any other. They're selling computers and mp3 players, not BMWs and Mercedes. Get off your high horse and enjoy your apple products in the privacy of your own home if you have a problem with how an employee looks.
