What do you expect when Steve Jobs walks out on the stage in front of a national audience wearing a wore out pair of blue jeans 3 sizes too big. Just trying to look like the boss.

Oh, and to the OP: I hope you're not looking for a future in the film/television industry if tattoos and long hair, and a "hipster" look bother you.

Still trying to figure out why tattoos and long hair is unprofessional...

No particular reason, but you are right that tattoo can be professional looking just as short hair can suck too.

What I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH is finding people who actually KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT who works at Apple. Instead they hire people with "degrees" and "Best Buy Sales experiences" rather than the people who actually knows about Apple stuff.

I don't care what they look like but I wish some of them bathed more often.

I dont think the OP is necessarily putting down people with tattoos and long hair - or maybe he is - but i think the point is that the people in the stores dont even look nice. I mean, you can have long hair and tattoos and still look respectable, but half the people in apple stores look like a bunch of losers who smell bad and probably dont know what the words soap and toothpaste are. Seriously, i dont think half the people at the apple store me take showers, there have been numerous times the employees smelled like BO. And the people in the apple stores do have that attitude like, "i'm better than you because i work at an apple store and use apple products and they are cooler than PCs" like honestly i wish i could tell them to get on their f'n knees. Maybe it's just my local store, but the employees really dont treat you very well and they act like morons. LIke someone else mentioned earlier - they just stand around and talk to each other. I could rant and rave but i would end up getting way off topic and losing my train of thought and people would criticize my post and....

screw apple store employees

:D That is hilarious!

But look, one of these people is actually a Mac, you can turn him on. Luckily, he doesn't turn me on.

Tattoos, long hair, etc. When people walk in to buy a premium product, they expect premium service. I've heard employees walk in saying "another day in paradise" sarcastically. A lot of them just talk to each other instead of helping customers. It just really annoys me because I'm 17, have persuaded friends to buy countless Macs/iPhones, and truly exhibit passion for the product. Meanwhile, these "hipsters" get the job.

Maybe some day when you are all grown up you will realize that discriminating against someone based on their looks only makes you look like a total ass in the end.

When I lived in Chicago (granted, this was two years ago, she's probably gone now) one of the hottest women I have ever seen worked at the Michigan Ave. store.
Tats and all. Just drop dead gorgeous.

I have a buddy who works for apple and he has a "chin tuft." He also, at one point, had a mo-hawk. I asked him about this and he said that Apple "wants you to express yourself." I personally have no problem with what someone looks like as long as they're courteous and knowledgeable, which has been my experience at the Apple store.

I don't know if anyone caught the Pixar special that was on A&E (I think) the other night, but if Apple conducts themselves like Pixar did in their beginnings then this makes sense. They were riding around on scooters, playing games, it was a free-for-all.
