I am surprised that a one year old thread has been revived Oh well, I just want to comment on the highlighted text. As much as I like this site, having been a member for 6 years like you, that comment is hugely erroneous. Xda-Developers, not just for those into rooting and flashing ROMs, is a huge source of general comments on a vast array of phones, troubleshooting tips etc. This section is not remotely comparable for Android.
Bingo! Why is this such a big deal to you? You are posting in a section of the forum that is labeled "alternatives to iOS" or something like that. What do you expect people to be talking about here? I am not real sure what you have a complaint about.
If you've ever visited any of the popular Android forums you'll understand. Way less bickering and childish behavior here. And much more intelligent discussion too!
The people who come here and just have Android devices are just weird.
There are definitely more childish and ignorant (about android) posters in apple forums.
This is to be expected since many ios users have never used any android before. I think most android users have much more experience with ios devices than vice versa.
"Reassurance posts, inferiority complexes, or paid shills for other companies"
Hahaha NONE of these, I have to laugh when people accuse me of working for Samsung or have a Galaxy phone, the TRUTH is I do not own a SINGLE Samsung product.
No I speak the truth and try to remind people their are alternatives out there, and I dismiss the false ideology around Android as best I can.
You'll also have to pry my MacBook Pro out of my cold dead hands pretty much, chances are if you see a comment by me on here, it's made on my MAC, not Samsung or Windows but my MAC.
I have owned 3 iPhones and 3 MacBook Pro's. So in total I must have spent over seven grand on Apple hardware over the last few years.
So remember that when you see me post, I consider myself to have spent enough of my hard earned cash to come here and applaud Apple when I want and to criticise them when I want.
As for an Android only users posting here, well that could be because they googled for something and a thread on this site was at the top of the list in Google. Plus if it's a big site you know you'll get a response, I post on TouchArcade a lot because it's a damn good site for info, been trying to help an Android gaming site get of the ground but it hasn't done yet which is a shame.
You have XDA Developers of course but that's really more for talking issues and customer ROMS etc, but they are also a friendly and INCREDIBLY knowledgeable bunch.
You had me apolloa until you said the guys over at xda were a friendly bunch.

Well they've been friendly from what I've seen? But I've only used the 2012 Nexus 7 part.
Yeah, some people think they really were born knowing everything
I've been a member over there since 2009 and nothing really against xda but it's not a friendly place if you're either a newbie or have limited technical skill.
If I had to guess, being that this is a Mac forum, you have all the people who own Apple COMPUTERS, but not mobile devices. XDA and AndroidForums aren't there for people on PC's except as an "off topic" board, so you won't have that kind of crossover.
I just scrapped my iPad and iPhone, but I love my Macbook Pro.
Close to this I would imagine.
Mac users who got into the non-AT&T droid market.
Mac users who had iPhones but switched to android.
iPhone users who switched to android (me)
People with cross platform usage (also me)
The bottom line is that someone can speak out about things they dislike about a company they like and use at least some of their products.
Apparently most people have trouble understanding the fact that you can enjoy a product and be critical of its issues at the same time.
I read macrumors forums to learn about my devices, and I read this subforum to learn about the features other brands are bringing to the table. But i'm a bit peeved with how many threads there are on users that try to convince us on what phone we should be buying. Or maybe to convince themselves?
Reassurance posts, inferiority complexes, or paid shills for other companies?
How many people who prefer iOS feel the need to go to Android forums and do the same thing? The largest Android forum has a subforum for iOS and other devices, with a whopping 200 threads, and threads from last year on the first page.
