Why is everything not AppleOS so ugly?

What Android phones have you owned previously? Not a family member, not someone else you might know, but what Android phone(s) have you personally owned and used?

none. I saw it on friends and family phones and decided i dont want to deal with this abomination

I would disagree a bit, need to change an app's settings? You need to change app to the settings app. Android long press the icon and boom pop menu takes you straight there.

boy oh boy what a hidden feature that is. I had to get an android phone and check it out. I didn't see it at first but then i figured id have to tap the I button (how is I an icon for settings?)

Also you can clear cache for an app without deleting and reinstalling. And swipe away notifications that pop up without having to return to the notification centre.

And android has a universal back gesture. Not the randomness of different apps using different methods.

Ios does do some things better to be fair.

it might have some nice features but you have to judge as a whole and pick one. Android settings app is a jungle that id rather not walk. The fact that you can have 2 app stores installing apps concurrently makes me confused.

I think the ballooning size of modern apps can be blamed on the devs decision to use electron to wrap web apps and call it a day instead of actually bothering to write a native app.

honestly, i hate it but... if i was a developer I wouldn't want to write 5 different apps for 5 different platforms. 1 Electron and it works everywhere. This has been great for the linux desktop users as they finally get an app for their platform too.

In the end its whats most convenient wins, not the best.

I swear apple does some of this stuff to troll the industry and demonstrate how none of them have a single original thought with UI design.

Works for me. NothingOS is a wonderfully minimal Android skin that unlike a launcher change on other devices runs right through the entire operating system. Its still my favourite phone UX of any modern device.

No I’m sharing what is being reported about nothing and one of the cofounders freaking out on social media about the leak.

By counterpoint researches reckoning the foldable market will grow by 21% after the iPhone foldable is released. And apple will rake 2nd place with a marketshare if 25%. Sound like counterpoint research is being conservative with their figures.

Which is great news for the foldable market since the global smartphone market is contracting, excluding Huawei and apple to whom are increasing market share rapidly in this current downturn caused by increasing memory and storage prices.

What happens to Samsungs foldable marketshare is up to Samsung moving forward.

Okay so then you cannot legitimately speak on user experience of Android. Funny how you folks always find yourself in this section though.

This is a complex issue. Unreported by the tech press is Nothing failing to register their accounts with the appropriate services in the UK where they're based although that was a month ago. At the same time they've built a brand on value phones with slim margins that now faces an uphill struggle due to memory costs. I imagine many of the layoffs are going to come from the CMF team who can't even afford to release a product at previous prices.

I imagine going forwards they'll be sticking to their good/better/best £300-£500 pricing categories. The 4a Pro is probably the best value phone on the market right now with very few weaknesses that even if it were £700 would be good enough.

What they and everyone else is fighting is how long Google can keep the Pixel 10a at £499. If they eat the costs on that hoping to recoup on AI subscriptions that will become king of the hill. The entire Android market however is constrained by Google. The AOSP project has to be looking at stripping things back to make it functional on less RAM to get around the price rises. Companies like Nothing and even Samsung don't have the agility Apple enjoy when it comes to development of the base operating system.
