I’m not upgrading because 13 is bad luck. There, I said it! 😂
So the iPhone 13 Pro Max still has a big notch and no fingerprint scanner.
Cool that they finally have 120hz displays, but it is still super outdated next to competitor flagship phones.
Basically the iPhone 13 Pro Max still only works with an Apple Watch unless you want to type in your password everytime you want to unlock your phone.
I am obviously not upgrading my iPhone 11 Pro Max —> iPhone 13 Pro Max as it is still lacking features which other flagship competitors have.
Multiple people not sure if it’s not worth upgrading.
Multiple people thinking of leaving Apple due to the lack of innovation and meaningful upgrades.
“Nobody cares”
“Nooooooo! Don’t question the trillion dollar megacorp! Just buy Apple product and then get excited for next Apple product!” 🙉
It's actually great that Apple is doing a bare minimum because people can spend their money somewhere else. I held onto my X for 4 years and it's still doing perfectly fine but I want 120Hz screen because most of my devices are >120Hz.
You don't need to upgrade every year or even two years, phones are built to last way longer than that.
How much more, realistically, can they do to smartphones? Yes eventually we’d all like the notch gone but come on. The days of true, groundbreaking innovation are long gone. The 12 and 12 Pro weren’t even that different to the 11 and 11 Pro.
If you have the money and don’t care, upgrade. If you have a much older iPhone then you will see a difference in upgrading.
It’s up to you what you do with your money.
I have the money to upgrade and pay in full up front.
I could spend that money on plenty of other stuff.
But I'll end up upgrading anyways. lol
I felt the upgrade this year was kind of lackluster. Sure, the iPhone 13 Pro models are great and they finally have a 120Hz screen. I do not see much news here and the iPhone 13 (non-Pro model) is simply disappointing.Every year. Every single year.
“Not enough to upgrade”
“The notch”
“No innovation”
“Not much better than my…”
“I’m done with Apple”
“My …. still works fine”
What else am I missing? I mean really, are you going to see a life changing, can’t live without feature with each iteration of iPhone? Nope, I don’t expect to either. It’s a piece of metal and glass, wtf more do you want out of it for crying out loud
Name a single android phone that has everything the iPhone does. Can an android control my appleTV? Can it airdrop to my computer? Android is clunky and unpolished. No android phone is made with the quality of the iPhone. So the iPhone 13 Pro Max still has a big notch and no fingerprint scanner.

Meh, one day they’ll be powerful enough to run VR and be more powerful than any console. How much more, realistically, can they do to smartphones? Yes eventually we’d all like the notch gone but come on. The days of true, groundbreaking innovation are long gone. The 12 and 12 Pro weren’t even that different to the 11 and 11 Pro.
What I chose to do with my money is my choice. If I want to walk in and buy a phone then I’ll do so. I like having the latest tech and I sell my old phones so it’s always a discount. Right now I’m on the 12mini. Maybe I want to go to the 13pro. Maybe I want an upgraded 13mini camera. I’ll wait to check the reviews. I just took a jet from LA to Houston to Gander Canada to Oslo then Cairo then Dubai. You think I’m going to spend a year or two sweating over a $200 difference in price vs me having the latest device possible so I can enjoy myself better, get better photos, have a newer battery, etc? I use my phone more than anything. Why wouldn’t I want it to be the best. I’m on it right now because there isn’t room for a laptop.I felt the upgrade this year was kind of lackluster. Sure, the iPhone 13 Pro models are great and they finally have a 120Hz screen. I do not see much news here and the iPhone 13 (non-Pro model) is simply disappointing.
But I am impressed at how people behave just because Apple updated its line-up. I have seen some people even announcing that they preordered the iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max and then ask what are the differences between it and the iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max that they already own. I do not see why someone would buy any product, let alone a $999+ one, before even knowing what it does.
The fact is, people should be more conscious about spending their money and buying new products. Most people will not even notice the upgrade from an iPhone 12 to an iPhone 13, but many will still upgrade. If people buy the iPhone 13 just for the hype, then Apple will be inclined to offer insignificant upgrades and raise prices.
My copilot literally won’t for that reasonI’m not upgrading because 13 is bad luck. There, I said it! 😂

Perhaps…but I've used passcodes even with fingerprint scanners (6s+, Pixel 3a XL, iPad 6th gen) so that aspect doesn't really bother me.To be fair to the poster.. covid and mask wearing has made Face ID a pain in the butt..
Pls don't do the iPhone vs Android thing if you don't know much about Android phones because there almost countless launches each year.Name a single android phone that has everything the iPhone does. Can an android control my appleTV? Can it airdrop to my computer? Android is clunky and unpolished. No android phone is made with the quality of the iPhone.
Smartphones have peaked. If it wasn’t for Apple being a public company, they’d release new model iPhones every 18 months instead of annually. How much more, realistically, can they do to smartphones? Yes eventually we’d all like the notch gone but come on. The days of true, groundbreaking innovation are long gone. The 12 and 12 Pro weren’t even that different to the 11 and 11 Pro.
Exactly. You’re paying the same amount, why wouldn’t you want the newest version?I’m upgrading cause I can. IUP. Upgrade every year, pay basically the same amount monthly for the newest phone.
I do it through Verizon. I’m not forced to get AppleCare.Being forced into AppleCare is what puts me off the IUP
Yes, that is my BIG issue with the current iPhones. To be fair to the poster.. covid and mask wearing has made Face ID a pain in the butt..
Complete non-sequitur.Every year the same threads and every year they're selling 200 million iPhones, so yes nobody cares.
Yes, precisely. If all iPhones are sold out every time, and there is a limited production capacity, then Apple will raise the prices. If consumers will buy all the stock of iPhones despite the lack of major improvements, Apple will realize that it may reduce its spending on research and development.Last point is pretty valid. Corp only realise the need of improvement through financial data.At consumer level, I will feel pretty much cheated if there is no feasible improvement.
You definitely choose what to do with your money, as everybody does. If you praise the tech and you think the upgrade to the iPhone 13 is worth it, then go ahead and do it. I have done it a million times before and I always want to get the best. But, as you mentioned, you will wait to check the reviews. What I chose to do with my money is my choice. If I want to walk in and buy a phone then I’ll do so. I like having the latest tech and I sell my old phones so it’s always a discount. Right now I’m on the 12mini. Maybe I want to go to the 13pro. How is it super outdated? Samsung’s had it for, what, two years? And the Apple version uses all the ProMotion technology they’ve been fine tuning for years with the iPad, so it’s super power efficient while still being adaptive.Cool that they finally have 120hz displays, but it is still super outdated next to competitor flagship phones.
What are you talking about? They have FaceID for unlocking without a passcode.Basically the iPhone 13 Pro Max still only works with an Apple Watch unless you want to type in your password everytime you want to unlock your phone.
Why not use the Apple Card financing then?Being forced into AppleCare is what puts me off the IUP

No one is keeping you, you can ge t a Samsung That has these features. Apple goes at their pace and no one else’s.So the iPhone 13 Pro Max still has a big notch and no fingerprint scanner.

Perhaps 5G may push iPhone 13 sales. Apart from that, the line-up feels uninspired, especially the regular model. A faster processor, when last year's is already ultra-fast; a better camera, when last year's was already great; a brighter display; an improved battery life; and a smaller notch. All fine, but nothing mind-blowing or must-have to compel millions of users to rush to the stores to get one (unless they are hypnotized by the hype).Speaking of money matter, it will not be good for investors too with projection of how this goes.
I let them slack on 12 Pro last year with excuse of COVID but they cannot always justify on issues due to Covid. They should pickup the pace at some point.
Yep, totally agree on both accounts. It's actually great that Apple is doing a bare minimum because people can spend their money somewhere else. I held onto my X for 4 years and it's still doing perfectly fine but I want 120Hz screen because most of my devices are >120Hz.
