I do funny when I see Apple Fans cheering for their sales numbers like if they personally got any benefit from it. This doesn't really speak at all about the quality of their products, rather just their ability to market.

Many of us are not looking to leave the ecosystem, but are disappointed about the direction they're taken and want to hear others sharing the same thoughts.

But hey if you're happy spending over 1.1K on a phone that's pretty much the same as what you already have go for it. You're not doing anyone any benefits, just making the big corporation richer, and giving them less incentive to try to actually be innovative.
That last part is such nonsense, camera's get better every year, cpu's get better every year, screens get better every year. That's all innovation, you wanting some big change just for the sake of it isn't innovation. Besides that Apple is spending obscene amounts of money (literally billions a year) into future stuff that's now in infant phases that might become features at some point, but when things are not ready, they're not ready.

I would probably move over to Android for game emulation, i see that even up to Wii is now playable on flagship phones.

But sadly i own an ipad, airpod pros, apple watch and my family all use facetime and imessage, so I'm kinda stuck.

Still, upgrading from an X to a 13 Pro is going to be a fantastic upgrade for me.

Nobody cares.
If "Nobody cares," then why are you wasting your time posting that "Nobody cares"? If nobody cares, why would you even need to say "Nobody cares" because if nobody cares, why say "Nobody cares" because nobody cares about you saying "Nobody cares" in a conversation that nobody cares about. 😂😂😂

If it is true as you say that "Nobody cares," then you wouldn't be here posting, would you? If nobody cared, then this discussion wouldn't have even been started in the first place.😂😂😂😂😂

But since this discussion was started, it points to the fact that people do indeed care, and by you responding to this discussion that "Nobody cares about" saying that "Nobody cares" points to the fact that you do care about expressing yourself on this topic which "Nobody cares about". 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Please keep posting! It makes for good free entertainment for others and myself. 😂

The most practical reason is that I’m on the Upgrade Program. However, I do not have a dedicated camera anymore. Therefore, the qualify of the iPhone’s camera more-or-less dictates the quality of my memories at any given point in my life. I can scroll my library over the years from the iPhone 4S until now and see the massive improvements and wish I would have had a better camera back then.

The iPhone 11 Pro to 12 Pro was honestly a negligible jump, but based on the specs for the Pro cameras this looks to be a huge year for low-light (read: indoor) photos. Maybe even as big as the iPhone X to 11 Pro so I’m very excited.

Name a single android phone that has everything the iPhone does. Can an android control my appleTV? Can it airdrop to my computer? Android is clunky and unpolished. No android phone is made with the quality of the iPhone.

Meh, one day they’ll be powerful enough to run VR and be more powerful than any console.

What I chose to do with my money is my choice. If I want to walk in and buy a phone then I’ll do so. I like having the latest tech and I sell my old phones so it’s always a discount. Right now I’m on the 12mini. Maybe I want to go to the 13pro. Maybe I want an upgraded 13mini camera. I’ll wait to check the reviews. I just took a jet from LA to Houston to Gander Canada to Oslo then Cairo then Dubai. You think I’m going to spend a year or two sweating over a $200 difference in price vs me having the latest device possible so I can enjoy myself better, get better photos, have a newer battery, etc? I use my phone more than anything. Why wouldn’t I want it to be the best. I’m on it right now because there isn’t room for a laptop.

My copilot literally won’t for that reason

I can ask reverse about iPhone and it will still be true. Can iPhone easily control my Android TV box or Chromrcast? Can iPhone easily working with my Google Nest smart speaker? Can iPhone easily sending files to my Chromebook or Windows PC?

Seriously. I have both iPhone 12 and mid-tire Android. They are both working great

So the iPhone 13 Pro Max still has a big notch and no fingerprint scanner.

Cool that they finally have 120hz displays, but it is still super outdated next to competitor flagship phones.

Basically the iPhone 13 Pro Max still only works with an Apple Watch unless you want to type in your password everytime you want to unlock your phone.

I am obviously not upgrading my iPhone 11 Pro Max —> iPhone 13 Pro Max as it is still lacking features which other flagship competitors have.

I am going for the Pro model from a standard iPhone 11. I am giving my iPhone 11 to my sister as her iPhone 6 is literally on it’s last legs.

I’m upgrading because my trade for the 12Pro Max meant it didn’t cost me too much and the trade for the 13 Pro is also good. I’ll get a fresh battery and fresh warranty and all the incremental upgrades one usually gets on the “S” cycle.

Plus I never know what Apple is going to take away next that might greatly inconvenience and infuriate me. If for example, there is no port of any kind next year, I won’t be able to use wired headphones, even with an adapter, and that would inconvenience me enough to want to hold onto a phone with the lightning port and defer the inconvenience for as long as possible.

There’s an increase in battery capacity across all models and that’s usually welcomed by most people. Though it does add enough weight to annoy some people.

Perfectly happy with my iphone 11 pro. Bought it this year for a great price and don’t feel like I need upgrading for a long time. Been on an “old” android up until now. Bought it in 2017, it was a huawei mate but 11 pro is years ahead of that.
EDIT words

Not everywhere wears masks… and they won’t going forwards in more places.

No one is forced to buy anything, Apple or otherwise.

But what you want individually.

You’re going 12 Pro Max to 13 Pro? I’m pretty sure I am too. Just curious why? For me it’s mainly the weight of the Max size. And with the Pro getting better battery life, and the camera upgrades, that makes it a go for me.

Biggest reason for me to upgrade is my 11 Pro is still worth $450 on a trade in, lol. Honestly though, I may or may not upgrade. Nothing really exciting about the 13, and after owning it for a month, it will just be another iPhone, in a case, that pretty much seems no different than my current one.

That's hardly innovation, just incremental upgrades (and in most cases driven by screen and camera manufacturers, not even Apple). How about on-screen touch ID, now common in several Android phones, foldable displays, etc. Those are innovations.

Apple has played extremely safe, just throwing minimal incremental upgrades that in most cases do little to change the actual daily experience in your phone, as they know they still sell 200M phones or something. If they know they'll sell out anyway, why bother?

Foldable displays are a party trick, iPhones actually have foldable screens in their phones for years now, but the question is whether you want a crisp clear glass front fused to that screen or a non-clear plastic front that scratches like crazy just so you can fold it into an awkward thick thing. And since glass is glass and can't fold (that's a law of physic) there's nothing to innovate there.

And I rather have a under-screen Face-ID (which is the current rumor for the iPhone 14) than on-screen touch-ID which is just not up to par to Face-ID in terms on convenience, especially once we go back to non-masking.

For starters it is cheaper than a Max, and I’d rather apply the cost difference to stay at 512 gb storage at a comfortable price.

And my daily driver that’s always with me will continue to be my 12 mini. I have two phone lines and wanted my other phone to have all the fancy cameras for vacations and special family events. I don’t need a max size and cost for just that. Yeah I know a normal sane reasonable person would just buy a small digital camera. But I’d still need to carry a phone. 13 Pro is a good all in one. It’s too heavy to replace the 12 mini in my overall usage though.

If I could have pro level cameras on the mini, that’s the only iPhone I would want.

I took the 12 Pro Max with me to my most recent vacation. It was too big to comfortably take with me since I was using a small clutch style purse or just my pockets. So it ended up sitting in a drawer most of the time. The cameras are a waste if I can’t comfortably carry the phone with me. I was mini golfing and hiking. The max pulls my shorts down! I’m not a tall woman.

I didn't think the 11Pro Max was worth upgrading to so I'll be upgrading to the 13 Pro Max. It's almost like not everyone is on the same upgrade cycle, and that's okay.

How much more, realistically, can they do to smartphones? Yes eventually we’d all like the notch gone but come on. The days of true, groundbreaking innovation are long gone. The 12 and 12 Pro weren’t even that different to the 11 and 11 Pro.
If you compare the specs of the 11 pro max to the 13 pro max - very little has actually changed

While I’m not a woman, I do know the struggle!

OK, you’re gonna laugh but I’ve been buying my iPhones at Walmart the last few years. A lot of times it was during their black Friday sale and got a $300-$400 gift card depending on what model it was. This past year they didn’t do the Black Friday sale but I got my 12 Pro Max for $200 off the top, so still a good deal.

I love the max size phones because of the battery life. My son does a lot of sports and we’re constantly at tournaments and what not and it’s a real pain to have to carry a portable charger if I need a top off. I absolutely love the camera features of the Pro models so the Mini or regular ones are a no-go for me unfortunately.

Im always in shorts when and after several years of carrying big heavy phones I’m going pro this time around. The added battery life is a plus and the fact that the cameras are the same between the Pro and the Max, I hate feeling like I’m getting gypped if I don’t go biggest version. Lol

I am going in same route. I was thinking not to change this gen, but after seeing the specs closely and trying out a 12 pro for size looks like 13 Pro is going to have all of the pluses of my 12 PM except the size. Pro Motion and Camera sensor at this size are enough for me to switch

I think the year to year upgrades are just not so exciting anymore. For me it is mildly exciting. I really only upgrade for the better camera, and because now my kid needs a phone so he is getting my old one. And unfortunately my old phone developed annoying green line/kid doesnt care so not worth repairing.
I think once the phones got nice screens starting with X generation, the upgrades are not “visual”. For me actually they are getting worse from the standpoint of weight. My wrist already hurts with XS Max and Pro Max will be 1 oz. heavier. Wonder if the magsafe stuff has anything to do with it Or it is more of the wireless charging, which I could care less for. I would rather take a lighter/thinner phone. i have a work phone XR, and the screen is just not big enough, with the phone still being pretty big and heavy.

I was also a tournament parent up until 3 years ago. We’re at different schools now and they’ve gone off into other interests.

Sadly, what I had then in the tournament days was the original iphone SE. Fortunately I got some excellent photos and videos from it. I also had a Samsung which at the time did stereo audio for videos when iPhones would not. A couple of my friends did lug pro grade camera and video equipment around. It was a challenge for them. For me, using a phone was less obtrusive and didn’t take me out of the moment as much as using my DSLR’s and camcorders would have. Not to mention it was always a pain back then to transfer my images to computers where I could share them. I think cameras do that easily now but the equipment I could get at the time did not.

I do wish I could have had an iPhone 12 quality phone when the kids were smaller. But the images I did capture are sufficient to recall the memories in my head and that’s pretty good, too!
