Money is not such a big issue given that I use this thing everyday for hours for both work and personal.
But yea, it is a bit underwhelming.
yea, not big issue.... and ICE you have 2 kidneys....

There is not really 'enough' there to justify upgrading IMO. The Pro Motion screen is cool, but like you said, almost every new flagship on the other side has at least a 90hz screen already (most 120). It seems to me iPhone has really slowed down innovation the past few cycles.

My God you complain about  not being original or innovating but here you are posting another unoriginal post about how it’s not worth upgrading.

I swear all y’all who keep posting these threads every year are a broken record.

How about you follow your own advice for  and innovate by actually creating a good thread?

it's just a phone, it'll be the same **** it's always been. it'll call and text your friends, it'll have apps, it'll take good pictures. if yours is old and you have the money to upgrade, go ahead. no need to pick apart every single upgrade.

I have an 11 and am perfectly happy with it. There’s nothing again this year that really makes me want to upgrade. The only thing I’d like is an OLED screen, but that in itself isn’t a reason for me to upgrade. I’ll at least wait until the 14 comes out before I consider upgrading.

You upgrade because you feel the compulsion to have the latest and greatest.

I admit that is part of why I'll likely be upgrading from my 11 Pro Max. My 11 works just fine. But it has been dropped and has scuffs and scratches. I also think 120 Hz is pretty cool and would like to experience it. Do I need to upgrade, though? Of course not.

It's your decision if you have the money. The phones are not always going to wow you every year. I don't need touch ID, but I wish they would've updated FaceID to work with masks. Sucks that that will still be a problem as long as we're required to wear them. Oh well.

The Pixel 6 seems like it will be a good competitor, which is never a bad thing. There should be direct challenges to the iPhone, it'll force them to improve. I like the Apple ecosystem so leaving is not likely, but I'll always keep an eye on what's going on in the competition.

Reason for me to finally upgrade is that both Pros have the same cameras. I was going to upgrade my XS to 12 Pro last year, but I'm done with the big phones. 12 Pro was perfect size for me, but I was let down by the camera differentiation. I'm happy I held out a year. (felt good too, to overcome the compulsion to buy)
I shot TV, commercials and films for a living, and the prores option is a great addition for me. I can now stick my phone in a tight place if I need an extra angle (and I don't have to use a bloody GoPro in a lot of cases)

I’m on the iphone upgrade program. My 12PM battery has noticeably degraded: doesn’t last as long, ramps down my screen brightness frequently and significantly. I want the extra 2.5 hours of battery life, 120hz promotion (it’s so nice in the iPad Pro). Anyway, if I wasn’t on the iup, I might just get the battery replaced and wait a year…nah.

Depends on the price and how much you value the better battery, camera's and 120hz screen.

Every year the same threads and every year they're selling 200 million iPhones, so yes nobody cares.
I do funny when I see Apple Fans cheering for their sales numbers like if they personally got any benefit from it. This doesn't really speak at all about the quality of their products, rather just their ability to market.

Many of us are not looking to leave the ecosystem, but are disappointed about the direction they're taken and want to hear others sharing the same thoughts.

But hey if you're happy spending over 1.1K on a phone that's pretty much the same as what you already have go for it. You're not doing anyone any benefits, just making the big corporation richer, and giving them less incentive to try to actually be innovative.

Multiple people not sure if it’s not worth upgrading.

Multiple people thinking of leaving Apple due to the lack of innovation and meaningful upgrades.

“Nobody cares”
If you mean worthless specs on a piece of paper, Apple has never been about that. I am sure multiple people switch sides all the time. Does not mean anything and nobody really cares.

If you have what Apple calls a “current” phone (11 or better), I can understand if you don’t see a compelling reason to upgrade. Older than that, I think you’re forgetting about two little letters: 5G. I’m not talking about the millimeter band that you have to live under a light pole in the downtown business district to get, I’m talking about the low band. It’s not that much faster, but the coverage is superior out here on the sandbar where I live.

It’s perfectly legitimate to question or discuss the size of this upgrade relative to previous upgrades or in general. It is a discussion forum about Apple products after all, and there has just been a new iPhone announced

Really? Because I’m pretty certain the company you have so much brand loyalty to is just about to ship out a brand new iPad with TouchID.
Yes but the lower end iPad. Tells you all you need to know about the value of fingerprint scanners relative to Face ID

They can afford it. Or their credit cards can afford it (Scary proposition).

Obviously, Christopher Nolan will be buying a bunch of them for his future movies. He hates film cameras.

Let's see, it's a supercomputer that fits in your pocket, it takes DSLR quality videos and includes a hollywood quality video camera, it responds to your every voice command, it searches billions of documents in a millisecond, it has 5G, it lasts for hours and hours, it works like magic, and oh yeah, it's a PHONE.

Yeah you're right, no reason to buy one.

The touch vs face id was discussed to dead.
but it would have been a good time during Covid-19 to release at least one new phone with touch id power button.
They released 8 phones in the meantime all not working with a mask.

With my phone paid off and a 659 gift card from Verizon and it’s roughly 10.00 trading to Verizon or 300 after trading my 12 pro to apple i figure a few hundred to upgrade isn’t a big deal
