For me, I like foot print of the XS. I have an XS Max. I may give the Max to mom and get myself an XS over XR. I realize I don't need a huge phone. My needs are strictly, call (work-related), texting, photos, and GPS. I'm not active on social media so XS is perfect.

I bought my XS Max for a few reasons. It has force touch, two cameras plus zoom and 512GB of storage. Figured I might as well get the best this year.

I waited until the XR was released before making my decision.

Even if the XS was the same phone as the XR but lighter and smaller, it would be worth the same USD 250 premium.

Because it is better. Simple. If cost isn't an issue, I can't see why anyone would buy the XR. Whilst it sounds contradictory because I may buy it myself, whilst I could afford it, I simply have to set a max limit for a phone and £800 (possibly £900 if I go for the Mate 20) has to be it. 1k is absurd (as is £800, but it is all relative and we all have a limit that we feel is absurd and that's mine!)

I have an Xs Max in Space Gray but I think the XR in black looks much nicer.

I bought the XS last week coming from an 8+ and wanting a smaller phone. The XR tempted me as it was possibly not TOO big.

It is worth ignoring anyone commenting on the XR screen who has not seen it in person. The screen is amazing. It is better than my 8+ screen. It doesn’t have the color-shift that the OLED screens do. The text density/PPI is VERY good. I have now used XR and XS side by side for almost 10 hours (of actual USE and comparison). Video also looks amazing, as good as my 8+ IMO.

It all comes down to preference but one is not better than the other. LCD lacks the high contrast. OLED has the multi-colors depending on angle. True Tone on the XR is less aggressive. My XS OLED seems warmer in general... and I prefer warm.. but I REALLY prefer accurate and blue/yellow/pink shift isn’t exactly accurate. I will add some images taken of a non-iPhone photo on the XR and XS. The XR actually looks more accurate to me and these are both laying flat on a table.

I actually prefer a single lens.. we do exist and don’t like Apple mixing our image data from two lenses.

I have had the XS for a week and the XR for about a day now and the XS has not fended the XR off. It’s a tough call. I am leaning towards the XR.. for the screen as I like to know that my edited photos are the right colors. The XR is a bad@$$ phone. We know the X line is as well.

I need a display that shows TRUE BLACK! I dont want to see where the bezel ends and screen begins!!!!! NO!! DONT WANT TO SEE THAT!!!

Oh, and btw, I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER IPAD UNTIL THE DISPLAY SHOWS TRUE BLACK!! Hear that Apple?!?!?!!!?

Well, your decision is easy based on your priorities. I prefer my iPad screen (color-shift more evident on larger screens) doesn’t turn 3 (or more) colors depending on angle.

Hmm... I got a fix for ya, stop viewing the screen off angle... :p *kidding*...
