Easy. Specs are not important to me. I bought into the Apple infrastructure a long time ago and in to deep to switch. It is that simple.

What the heck am I going to do with an Android phone? I suppose I can use it as a phone and text with it--but then I wouldn't have iMessage--and I really don't make very many calls. I have all those IOS apps--and have many of them on my phone and iPad--and then there is the whole photo iCloud stream where my pics are on all my devices. So for me the Galaxy would be a very much overpriced phone that just does one thing--makes phone calls. :)

Don't give me the tired old "android is a mess" argument, we aren't dealing with ginger bread or jelly bean here anymore. KitKat does almost everything well.

I think the level of sophistication when it comes to mobile platforms is higher here than you're giving it credit for.

As for me....it's simple. I prefer iOS over android. And yes, I've tried android (KitKat twice). I have no compelling reason to switch to an S5 or any other android device. Does android do something's better in my opinion? Absolutely, but overall ios works better for me.

1. my Ecosystem is entirely apple. apps, keychains etc..

2. galaxy feels cheaply made so it makes me wonder how long it will last and also, are they trying to rip me off by having sub-quality materials?

3. technical support- apple's support is hands down, fantastic if you need it (from my experiences).

4. solid iOS. Yes, it's 'locked down' to how they do things, but for me, it just works.

5. because of the above, I believe the user experience is seamless. Everytime I go into an Apple store, I'm amazed at the wide range of people, but more so at the number of seniors having tutorials for iPhones, iPads and Macs. Must be easy to use if there are seniors using them when, for the majority, those seniors haven't been as technically wound as the rest of us.

6. for Steve Jobs. He can no longer 'go thermonuclear' on Samsung for their blatant copy cat, but I can ensure I don't support it lol

Yes, I know Apple's not innocent of copying things either, but if you look at the pre-iPhone Samsung phones, it's pretty tough to argue Samsung didn't copy it. Oh and the fact that when the main trial was on, I read a blurb that Samsung honchos detailed how they told people to get that iPhone, break it down and copy it. Sure wish I would have kept a link to that lol

I agree. Way better? Hardly. Both cameras seem to win their fair share of contests.

And the fact that both cameras win various contests to the point they seem to be the same is extremely important.

Remember the 5S camera is 8MP and S5 is 16MP! That means that even with a "better" camera Samsung can only hold it's own or slightly edge out the 5S "low-res" camera. This makes me excited to see how much better the 6's camera will be.

Also main reason to not switch to Samsung, TouchWiz. Android is good and some layers, like Sense, are decent, but TouchWiz is terrible. It is the reason the S5 is a questionable phone and the reason sales are down.

The actual build of the S5 is bad too. I mean really, there are millions of S4 users saying "make the S5 metal, like iPhone and HTC ONE"
But instead of listening to their consumers they make it plastic, again. And not only plastic, crappy ugly plastic with boring colors and the weird "luxury" dimples (Samsung CEO's words).

Samsung is out of touch, like HTC was for a while. Samsungs main problem is itself.

For me, it's all about the ecosystem. My iPhone fits seemlessly in with my iPad rMini and MacBook Pro. I honestly can't comment on any of the Galaxy devices since I have never owned one personally. I have briefly played around with friends S4 and S5 devices, and came away unimpressed. I really like how iOS is more polished (especially with the apps), but again, I don't have an in-depth experience with Android because I'm not interested in any phone's running off that software.

The only gripe I have is the battery on the 5S. But it's certainly not something that is going to make me switch.

I'm giving the iPhone 5s another whirl, can't believe I forgot how terrible the battery life is on this thing. Dropped 25% in an hour of moderate usage., FYI this iPhone has been in and out of my rotation since I got it new on July 8 so it's not like this has been used since last fall. :(

You have one group saying megapixels don't matter and another that say look at the difference in quality (or lack thereof) with Samsung having more megapixels. So which is it? Do they matter or not?

Another thing, Apple is notorious for doing there own thing and not listening to consumers. Jobs even said it himself that people don't know what they want. Can't fault Samsung for that, unless someone wants to argue Samsung is copying that too! Lol

Same injection molding technique is used for the plastic on the 5C as Samsung uses. Only thing making the S5 feel cheaper is the thinness of the battery door. That should only matter if you prioritize form over function.

Have you looked at what apps are currently allowed to refresh in the background and use location services? I get the exact same battery life that I got on my Note 3.

As a long time customer of Sprint - I never had the option of the iphone until the iPhone 4s was released on Sprint.Immediately after buying an iPhone 4s - I ended up leaving Sprint and going to Verizon. The choice was simple once I had an iphone I was hooked. I had always envied the way eBay had tons of accessories for the iPhone

Why would you pick iPhone over the Galaxy S5?

None. Maybe your Note 3 has a bogus battery. ;)

That simply is not true and credible web reviews say otherwise.

Having used both cameras, the detail when you zoom in on a faraway object (after the photo has been taken) is incredible. Not to say that the 5S camera is poor but the S5 is a much better module. Samsung phones have always had good cameras.

You are entitled to your opinion, but as I said before credible web reviews say otherwise. For the next generation the s5 is better then the 5s at some things and vice-versa.

Because it runs iOS.

Because all my content is already bought and paid for on the App Store/iTunes Store.

Because it will works seamlessly with my iPad and MBP.

Because I'm an :apple: fanboy.

I borrowed some of this from the apple fanboy.

Of course the iPhone 5C is a lower cost phone with specs from 2 yrs ago. The S5 is a new phone with update date hardware but a crappy body. Even if it is the same material, process, ect the thinness and fragileness is what makes the S5 feel cheap in the hand. The 5c may feel cheap, but it feels solid.

You never know I guess but I also get the same battery I was getting on my HTC one m8 as well.

Did you check out my suggestion?

The Note 3 and M8 slay the iPhone's battery life. Even a fanboy has to admit that.
I'm an iPhone owner btw.

5S = iOS (win)

S5 = Android (fail)

Yes it's really that simple. Spec's don't mean much if you dealing with buggy, laggy and malware prone software.
