I don't think there is anything wrong with buying an 8+ today (depending on price, of course).

My iPhone 8+ still works great. I like the screen size. I like TouchID. I like the telephoto lens. It is still plenty fast for me. To me, spending $1000+ on a phone when my current phone works just fine.

I'll wait until next year to consider an upgrade. It could have TouchID under glass, higher refresh rates, reverse charging, 5G capability, etc.

I'll just keep my 8+ until a compelling reason makes me decide to get a new phone.

Pwm flicker and do not want face id, actually if i were not pwn flicker sensitive, would buy note10

I’m actually considering an 8 plus to upgrade from a 7. Target has $150 off discount so it only comes out to $400 for the phone before tax.

Good luck finding stock at target.

They have had $300 target gift card sign for iPhone 8 for past 3-4 months and the rep says none are in stock. It’s a tease.

Heck. They had $300 gift card for the xs (gold only color deal) also the same time and also a tease. No stock in my area.

I found one silver in stock and reserved it just now. Yeah yesterday they still had the gift card but I forgot to reserve...oh well....I'll take the $150 off the phone ($400 before taxes)....better than nothing and far better than spending $1100 for an 11 Pro

The 8-plus is a great phone - depends on one's needs.

I am going to keep mine for at least another year - just got new front camera and glass replaced under AppleCare (glass was fine but front camera died somehow).

Apple is offering me $350 on a trade-in (256GB) - worth anyone?

Now that the keynote is complete, my desire to purchase an 8 Plus only solidified. It's actually $20 cheaper than I expected at $549, and now we have the new option of AppleCare monthly meaning you can have protection on your iPhone in year 3 if you keep it that long. Terrific stuff.
3 years worth of apple care to protect a $549 phone that will be worth peanuts in 3 years? I think that’s a bad use of money, but that’s just me.

Is that with activation?

It’s a solid side-grade. You’re getting wireless charging, True Tone and the dual camera over your 4.7 iPhone 7. I’d say go for it.

Who knows, maybe people who cant afford the new phones or people who want to prolong the use of FACE ID for as long as they can.

I was speaking in general terms about the timeline. Personally I’d like to move onto a folding phone before year 3. I don’t care about resale value. My days of reselling my old phones are over.

Phones are afforded by financing today, even if consumers can’t afford the total cost upfront. It’s the carriers who enable the consumer to make it appear ‘easy payments’, even when the payments can exceed $65.00 for the device, which doesn’t even include the data usage. It’s overwhelming for some who think they can afford a device, but the Apple/and the carriers have changed the mindset of the consumer and what they can afford.

I got over 800 selling an XS the other day.

It’s pretty easy to buy every year and lose around 300 with 3rd party resale. With the high drop off in value past 2 years old it actually doesn’t cost much more buying/selling every year compared to holding on, and you get the best phone with a fresh a battery every year. I plan on selling the 11 Pro (64gb) for over $700 in a year.

Also I'm pretty sure the whole "Pixel is way better than the iPhone" argument in regards to the camera is pretty overblown. I've seen multiple comparisons that rate the XS ahead for specific shots and its very close even if the Pixel is a little better overall. The night mode and deep fusion technology along with the new sensors/lenses will be a fantastic setup.

Just bought my wife an 8 Plus to replace her aging 6 Plus. She is not a big fan of changes, and I really do not think she would adapt well to the various swipes of the current generation. Pretty impressed with the speed improvements of the 8 Plus vs. the 6 Plus. [PS: I get my iPhone 11 Pro on Friday!!]

Change of plans, after reading the iPhone 11 reviews I managed to get a good price for my 8+ so it looks like I'll be getting a new phone after all. :D

Nice! If you have any review links please share. I'm pulling the trigger on the 11 because I'm getting it for less than $200 after trading in a 7 Plus and 8 Plus.
