Sure mate, can you probe that?

I can probe that previous front facing cameras were hackable. And that alone is a reason to cover it, whether it has to do with the whole face id tech or not, part of it is still the front facing camera.

And of course you can ‘probe’ that the Secure Enclave is hackable, which is a different thing than the cameras. But the argument is that if both TouchID and FaceID data are stored in the same place then they’re both equally vulnerable (or invulnerable).

While Ming Chi Kuo is the best Apple Analyst on the planet predicting something two years out is doubtful. While I personally would like to see Face ID as well as underscreen Touch ID It seems that Apple hasn’t made a decision as patents have been around for years and never brought to life

Patents are not a guarantee for anything, they’re merely laying groundwork for something that might be in the R&D phase. That’s all that it means. As far as Apple using touch ID under the display, is it likely? Maybe. But two years is a long ways away, and in the tech sector, there’s too much that can change where this may or may not be a reality. As for now, Face ID is all that matters, everything else is nothing more than smoke.

Two years ahead is about right for lining up display suppliers.

By late 2015, Nikkei reported Apple was in serious OLED supply talks with Samsung and LG. Those plans came to fruition in November 2017.

In April 2019, Apple had already locked in their display supply specs for 2020. That's 18 months before launch.

A 24-month lead time to discuss what is feasible for suppliers would be completely in line with expectations.

Apple wants to claim to be more secure. They'll want dual factor authentication. They'll need to have both FaceID and TouchID.

It’s coming According to Ming chi Kuo ( best Apple analyst On the planet) Only problem it’s already late and 2021 is unacceptable. Hopefully Apple gets this into the 2020 iPhone
We’ve seen several patents in the last few years , question is why is Apple taking so long to implement it
Surely nobody would object to having both in an iPhone

Having both biometric security options doesn’t make the phone ‘more secure’. What it does, It allows for other alternatives other than Face ID, but Apple is claiming face ID is highly secure as it is, so then why would they need a *secondary* source for biometric security on the phone when Face ID _is_ the core standard? Don’t you think having two biometric security options on the phone would show less confidence with face ID from Apple?

My point being, two forms of biometric security doesn’t make the phone more secure, not when Apple offers alpha numeric/Face ID if one so chooses. I’m not against touch ID under the display, but that doesn’t mean they both will be offered on the same phone either.
