My PS4 pro is pretty quiet. though I did upgrade it to an SSD I had lying around before I installed anything. I only hear the DVD sounds when I play Red Dead Redemption (came with the PS4 pro). I prefer downloading my games.

I think if Apple wants to get AAA title games on the iPad they need to get game developers to go all in on Metal. But Apple also may have to increase the GPU power a bit more (something some of us wish they would do on the Mac side as well). It seems like it's almost there if you look at games like NBA 2K20. But compare it to the console and you'll see Apple's AX chips fall slightly behind in the graphics dept. The problem with adding more GPU power is the requirement of a fan in the iPad. It's pretty impressive what Apple is doing with the chips considering there are no fans.

I think Apple Arcade is the beginning of something very interesting for mobile games. I hope it changes the current landscape of loot crates and the idiotic pay2play/pay2win model.

If Apple is serious about games, I would reach out to EA and try to get their sports games (console versions not mobile) ported over to iOS/AppleTV (and maybe some other exclusive EA titles). Sports games are the one thing really lacking on the Nintendo Switch. Could be a good thing for Apple and EA. The current mobile EA games are awful.

The iPad Pro is getting seriously powerful and will get even more so this year. Unreal Engine and Unity already work with metal natively meaning that porting PC/ Console games to IOS would be straightforward. Just hook in a Bluetooth controller and you’re good to go.

After seeing the Witness Ported in its entirety to IOS running just fine on an iPhone 6s and Playerunkown battlegrounds ported to IOS and running again on an iPhone 6s. I wonder just what would be possible on an iPad Pro. Could we see proper console level games ported to IOS?

(I really really want a port of Witcher 3 to IOS ;) )

Edit :

I mean with game pad support for the same controller experience
Yes it will, but ONLY through game streaming like Google’s system of Microsoft’s X Cloud system, just link up your Xbox or PlayStation game pad and there you go, a system that will play the latest AAA games.
But unfortunately you‘ll never see a huge budget AAA game on iOS natively.
However Mariokart Tour is fantastic, Fortnite and PUBG seem to work, plus on Monday the official Call Of Duty Mobile game launches that looks just like the big brother COD game and it was made by the same team behind PUBG mobile, so you still get decent mobile games but they are all freemium.

I can't wait for Playstation to get its collaboration Microsoft xCloud gaming service up and running fo iPad. Having a playstation in the cloud for all those playstation exclusives will be amazing.

Sooner or later streaming game services like Google Stadia are coming anyway so devices won’t matter anymore. just connection and screen.

Ohhhh yes , indeed!

Why not GTA V? It could easily run on todays iPhones and iPads.
Would absolutely love to play GTA V on iPhone. Would be even better if it linked to my account on my PC and I could resume the game from there.

That would be nice for sure. Let me go and try some ps3 games on my PS4 then to see if I get those up and running. :)

What part of anymore did you not understand????? PS4 onwards, Xbox One onwards, all based on x86, basically PC parts. Obviously Microsoft have created Virtual machines to run their older console titles, something Sony have no expertise in.

Why not GTA V? Might be able to squeeze the single player game based on the 360/PS3 build onto iPad Pro but no online features. But then, they would never make back the cost of porting so unlikely that they would ever do it.

So this is yet to happen in the future then. Thanks for the correction.

this is happening now, PS4 > PS4 pro> ps5
xbox one > Xbox one x > Xbox Scarlett

play your games on all consoles nativley, no more ‘next generation’ it’s just upgraded platforms. Which is great

It absolutely is - my wife’s the gamer in this household though. She’ll be happy to hear. Cheers!

And each time you buy a new game console all your game software becomes incompatible and needs replacing.
Wait what? That’s not even the same thing. U can still use the games on the original console you bought it for. You make absolutely no sense. A lot of people here say some outlandish things just to fit their Apple narrative..smh

Wow captain obvious strikes! Of course it’s not the same thing it just puts a different perspective on things. Do you accuse anybody you don’t like of have an outlandish opinion or are you just selectively rude?
One breaks after an update, in comparison to one being a paperweight on the next hardware iteration. Pick your poison.

You made a statement that makes no sense. The old game isn’t a paperweight when the new hardware comes out. IT STILL WORKS ON THE HARDWARE IT’S MADE FOR. You said it, not me. It’s not the same, so don’t get in your feelings when someone corrects you or points out you’re wrong.

No it just doesn’t make sense, period. I have GTA V for Xbox 360. When the Xbox One came out my GTA V still worked for my 360. It’s not an Xbox One game so it’s not expected to work for that system. Backwards compatibility on the Xbox One, for the games that support it, is a bonus. Idk what’s so hard to comprehend about that? The Xbox 360, and the games, still work and Xbox Live is still supports the 360. Your analogy was dumb from the get go.
