Less people are upgrading every year or even every few years. Also, Apple's manufacturing process is getting more complex especially for the materials used to build the Pro iPhones. The overall bill of materials is more expensive, the 3NM SoC from TSMC, the manufacturing of the near edge to edge display and just engineering that into a working product. With the fact we are keeping these expensive devices longer, Apple wants to get as much out of new users and upgraders.

Apple also make more than 50% margin on every iPhone they make which is why they are worth nearly $3T at this point. You’re right less people are upgrading but also less people go for Pro devices too. Increasing the cost just makes the segment even smaller again. I know people here will suggest higher prices are ok because people will absorb the cost and keep the phones longer, but many don’t want higher bills initially either.

Everyone was saying that the iphone 14 would be $100 more expensive up until the keynote including the day of the keynote and everyone was WRONG. What if the same thing is happening with the iphone 15 but apple has secretly known this and is actually planning to reduce the price of the iphone 15 series thanks to new and improved manufacturing processes?

Here's what I think the iphone 15 series may end up looking like:

Iphone 15 256gb: $549
Iphone 15+ 256gb: $599

Iphone 15 pro 512gb : $899
Iphone 15 Ultra 1tb : $999
When manufacturing costs get cheaper for Apple, Tim Cook does not like passing those cost savings to customers. Instead, he likes to keep prices the same or even increase prices. Cook doesn't care about users. He cares about making more money for himself and shareholders.

Here is a more reasonable pricing prediction:

iPhone 15 — $899
iPhone 15 Plus — $999
iPhone Pro — $1199
iPhone Pro Max — $1299
iPhone Ultra — $1499

Nah. They're cutting on costs on the 15 by giving it last year's chip.

It will be something like
15 128GB - $799
15 Plus 128GB - $899
15 Pro 256GB - $1099
15 Ultra 256GB - $1299 (yeah it's usually a $100 upsell but they will think of some shenanigan to make it $200).

Also Pro Max = Ultra. Not two different products.

Sounds reasonable. We should know in a few weeks. Sounds like the Ultra will have a different camera system, so this would support a jump in price from the Pro.

I am pretty sure the certified refurb on apple.com for 15 series in 2025/26 will be more than the prices quoted above :D

Yep the 8 Plus was the flagship when it was released in Sept 2017, because the Iphone X was not released until October.
IMO the 8 Plus was never the flagship. They were both announced at the same time. The X just shipped a month later. Nobody who wanted the best iPhone that year bought the 8 Plus. Was the 8 Plus technically the best iPhone you could buy for one month? Maybe it was. But was it the flagship in the public's opinion? No.

It turns out i was right. Iphone 15 is cheaper in europe and UK, 99% of people said i'm lying yet they're all wrong..
