I heard the new Apple car could be a Lemming (Lemon for those who are witless) when its finally released!

Again, I know I'm talking to the bubble fringe, but upgradeable computers is an evolutionary dead end.
So, the Power Mac tower will evolve to a headless Ipad, and you're OK with that?

That's sad, since Apple could easily support bringing out the fabled xMac, a new upgradeable cMP (think Z840 on steroids), and up-to-date nMP systems without causing a 0.001% hit to the earnings-per-share.

Really, Tim, strike a deal with HP to support OSX on a limited selection of Z-series, or with Dell and the Precision Workstation towers.

Yeah, you did (in general, your reading comprehension is pretty poor btw).

Bull.

You said:

So, yeah, whine about how Macs suck now, but after you get it out of your system, build your Hackintosh, or switch to a Windows PC, or whatever, but geez, move on already and be happy. And you don't have to send out individual announcements that you're moving on, just do it. Then go to a respective PC forum and share in the good cheers about what a great decision you made.

You are telling people to not discuss their decisions (or thoughts) on possibly leaving apple, then to take their opinions to another forum. Own it pall. You said it.

And while calling it "whining" is due to annoyance, after two years of nearly non-stop bashing of the nMP, it's no longer constructive criticism - plain and simple, it's whining.

Eh, you seem to whining about other whining. I find you much more annoying than anyone complaining about Apple in the first place. Maybe you should go somewhere else because I’m annoyed with you?

As far as what I've been discussing, it's not a matter of whether I'm "OK" with it - it's just the way the industry is headed. The "tools" evolve, and if we can get done what we need to get done with some future iPad Pro, I don't see what's wrong with that. And while "hardware" is a hobby of mine just from a personal interest, when looking at where things are headed, I try not to get caught up in the tools themselves but rather what we can do with them.

As I've said many times, I wish Apple paid more attention to this segment and had more options. I wish there was a fabled xMac... but I've been wishing for it for ten years... there's no point in bringing it up in every thread. I think it would also be great if Apple made a deal with HP/Dell to support OS X on their workstations. It will never happen, but that would be a great alternative if Apple's not going to address that portion of the market with their own Macs.

Just a little personal history on this subject...
I used my first computer, an Apple II, in the early '80s... immediately fell in love with them and have been a computer geek ever since. I got a Mac SE in the late '80s, followed by a PB5300 in mid '90s. A few years later, I switched to Windows, partly because of work software (to use at home) and partly because Apple was going down the toilet and the PB5300 was a POS. Despite that, being a general computer geek who always was drawn to Apple, I kept an eye on everything Apple. I probably would have gotten a Mac soon after they switched to Intel, but they didn't really have a product for me. The mini was underpowered for my needs, the iMac didn't work for me because of the built-in screen, and the MP was out of my budget at that time. By 2009, I started recommending Macs to friends and family, and I hackintoshed my home windows PC. Worked great, but I didn't like have to deal with "stuff" every time there was a system update, or wondering every time there was an issue whether it was related to the hack. By 2011, I wanted a genuine Mac again myself, but the MP was already getting long in the tooth. I already had a faster i7 and GPU at work. I bit the bullet anyway and got a 2010 MP (5.1 quad) and that was the most finely engineered desktop I'd ever used up to that point. Beautiful computer. But by the time the nMP was announced, I was already chomping for a faster (and smaller) computer... the old Nehalem-based Xeons weren't cutting it anymore (again, for my needs), and when I looked at Apple's lineup, it was between the nMP and a tricked-out MBP operating in clamshell mode. From what I gathered, thermal throttling was going to be an issue for the MBP, so I again bit the bullet and got the nMP. Great computer, beautifully engineered. But I don't need Xeons/FirePro... it's kind of spendy for a home computer (that I occasionally need for work purposes as well). What I really want is the same form factor with an i7/GTX.

I used to roll my own and be into the whole "upgrade" thing and had boxes of spare parts to prove it, but now I'm at a point where I'd rather just buy a new computer when needed. I don't have anything against hackintosh, upgrades, towers, etc... it's not my world anymore, but I think it's all cool and would be great if it was kept as an option.

:)

Again, reading comprehension fail on the first part - MVC accused me of suggesting that anyone I disagreed with go to another forum. I never implied any such thing - that's just typical MVC shenanigans. Reading comprehension is more than understanding individual words, it's being able to understand context and the "thread" of a conversation.

On the second part, yeah, if you're complaining about anything for the millionth time, I think it's fair to say it's time to move on or take a break or whatever. You're on record as stating that "the nMP is a POS", and pretty much slam it all the time. The more posts there are slamming the nMP, the more you think it validates your own opinion. For you, it'll never be annoying.

However, I find this discussion about the discussion equally annoying as well, so I'm all for stopping here as far as that goes. It gets so tiring responding to this nonsense. Do you have anything to offer to this discussion... would you like to take this opportunity to once again tell us how much you hate the nMP? Maybe you could just write it a hundred times in a row in a single post, and then we'll know for sure how you feel about it?

My current theory is we will see an announcement alongside El Capitan or we won't hear about it this year.

I give it a 30% chance.

No Chance, Double Wrong for Apple to launch a Mac Pro on Xeon E5-V3 when far superior E5-V4 will be available Q1 2016, also too earlier to announce an product not available until q2 2016 (nMacPro on Broadwell-EP).

I think only we will see alonside El Capitan are updated iMacs and new Thunderbolt Displays (maybe on both 4K and 5K versions), and other product updates: Airport TC, Airport Extreme, maybe the iPad Air 3G, and the much anticipated Keyboard woth Backlit and Magic Trackpad with Force touch ass well Magic Mouse with Force Touch.

Here we go again...
English is not my native language as you all might imagine, but I understood exactly what ixxx69 was saying and subscribe to it, said it myself on several occasions. I'm with you buddy!!
It's not that people don't want to hear other's opinions, much on the contrary, this is supposed to be a place exactly for us to express our opinions regarding the nMP and what will come in the future.
But that's not what some (and if you take notice it's always the same guys) do here, they offer nothing constructive. Some just say that the nMP is rubbish and that they want something else.
I can even understand that some guys still like to tinker with their machines, swap out almost all parts and brag they have the fastest machine on the planet. That's cool. Been there, done that - well, not the bragging, just the upgrading.
Like ixxx69, I'm over it, I just want a stable, quiet, low foot print machine now. And that's the nMP for me. If it wasn't I'd just move along and stop crying about it, look for something else.
Some know Apple better than me for sure and still complain that Apple has no love for them, and they want this or that. Don't you know by now how Apple works? Would they really make an upgradable Mac now just because some of us want one? And don't think I wouldn't like to see one, I would indeed. I would still go with the nMP now, but it would be great to see Apple once again care for the rest of the crowd here.
But, like me, you know that won't happen, at least any time soon.
Ever since the tower MP came out I wanted one. Unfortunately, at the time I just couldn't spend the money - and do note that I'm not saying it's expensive. If it fits your needs and you like it it's surely not expensive.
I enjoy coming here and talk about what we might expect from Apple for the nMP. My opinions and expectations are often refuted and I appreciate being corrected since usually the arguments are valid.
But if one only gets bullied based on specific parts of a discussion that seem carefully chosen only to start a dispute, that's not something I find amusing. I'd even dare say that kind of behavior is not welcome. That's just me though.
That last comment from the usual suspect was quite hilarious - was that a mirror you were looking at? :)
Man, I almost rolled over laughing.

Back on topic now. El Cap is almost out, if no hiccup comes along. It will probably be a silent update, with the announcement in their website. No new hardware to be released anytime soon. CPUs for most new machines will be here only early next year, so it's to early to announce. Same with TB3.

So, the Power Mac tower will evolve to a headless Ipad, and you're OK with that?
maybe. can i do with the ipad what i could do with the power mac?
(as of now, i can't due to input devices.. but if that changes then yeah, i'd be fine using an iDevice as a replacement.. as long as i could still use a large and/or multiple display)

but i can certainly get more done at a faster pace on a current laptop than a past powermac.. that's for sure. (due to a combination of hardware improvements but maybe more important/noticeable -> software improvements)

I agree in principle. I am more making the point that if we don't hear anything by the 30th, we can retire this thread till next year =)

Note, my chance is only 30% (quite low). The reason I give it a low chance rather than 0% chance is (a) optimism and (b) Apple, from past behaviour, has not been religious about coupling Mac Pro refreshes with Xeon release. Other than the Xeon v4, the other parts are ready for at least an announcement.

LOL.

It is so funny to see people defending Apple with the argument "that it's too late to do an E5-x6xxv3 since the E5-x6xxv4 is so close". And those who say that the E5-x6xxv3 isn't enough improvement from E5-x6xxv2 to bother.

Apple should have done the trivial investment to move to the E5-x6xxv3 a year ago when they were released.

Soon we'll probably hear a chorus of "the E5-x6xxv4 isn't an improvement over the E5-x6xxv2, Apple should continue the nMP 6,1 until they are forced to upgrade because Intel shut down the E5-x6xxv2 fabs".

Meanwhile, HP and Dell and the others ship systems with more cores, more RAM, faster RAM because they consider the Intel upgrades to be worthwhile - even if not earth-shattering.

Its even funnier you see him as defending Apple instead of speculating on why they are waiting.

Cool, now go enjoy your HP workstation and I will enjoy using my new 2013 Mac Pro.

Your new "2013" mac pro... Brand new two year old tech and more than 3 years old GPUs... At 2015 prices... Enjoy!

You bet! Sorry, but I don't do Windows and hackentosh is a crappy experience. All I care about is if its faster then my 2009 Mac Pro which it definitely is much faster.

Well, now that we're clear on that point…

I did have to smile at the earlier comment about the nMP being "faster than my 2009", given the fact that a 2009 cMP can, at nominal expense, be upgraded to be almost as fast (CPU) and faster (GPU) as the fastest nMP.

I hate the nMP.

I think what he's trying to say is most who use the "I don't like the nMP" like MVC and others, don't usually bring anything new, intuitive, interesting, engaging, to the conversation. Other then the "I don't like the nMP" I use to like MVC posts until they stopped making the classic Mac Pro. Now 95% of his posts are usually the same boring reply, more or less. Same as your response, even though you may have not said it 100 times.

Considering I'm experiencing problems with my 2009 MP, I can only smile back as I'm expected to buy another already aging classic Mac Pro with most likely no Apple support.
