The W-2200 series Xeons are also supposed to be hundreds of dollars cheaper than the current W-2100 series so Apple could use those savings to mask the higher panel costs and not need to raise the iMac Pro's pricing.
What about Ryzen/Threadripper? An all new chassis based in the pro display HDR design will be much better vented, so enabling a huge tdp rise good fit beefier internals without throttling, having more choices and a wider user appeal (as gamers).

And not just Ryzen, also semi custom APU manufactured under license or co-manufactures, given apple owns TSMC waffers backlog compatible with AMD Zen (both share 7nm process for Zen and Axx/T2).

I think they have been working on a redesign for a while. The March 2019 speedbump perhaps was just a way to postpone because they weren't ready yet.

Very unlikely the next one will have the same bezels and internals. If not else, switching to a SSD "obliges" them to adopt a Tx, which leads to a redesign of the motherboard, which leads to a change in the cooling...etc etc :D

Thats not what he said. He was proposing to have iMac 21/23", then 27/30 iMac Pro and then thats it. The next step would be Mac Pro.
Its just a naming scheme to the existing line except he was proposing to drop the current iMac Pro (which makes sense).

It would be overall better line/naming.
It's precisely what he said. It's you who's twisting his words.
"Just a naming scheme" doesn't exist...the iMP name would certainly bring much higher prices. Ergo, someone hoping for such a change is in fact an elitist ass
You're right that dropping the iMP would make sense, whereas transferring the brand to cover all 27" iMacs would be asinine

I'm skeptical about a switch from Intel to AMD, but I guess we'll find out at WWDC (assuming there is a WWDC this year).

Only spec bump? 10 years of the same screen sizes and bezels wasn't long enough??

The MacBook Pro followed the same general design between 2008 and 2019 (and into 2020 for the 13" model). I think at best we can hope for narrower bezels above the chin.

well.. I was waiting a late 2019 refresh with a redesign and better cooling solution and then march 2019 update happened. I didn't like it because it was just a cpu bump. then I hoped for a proper refresh and was expecting it late 2020 or early 2020 and now this tweet emerged. So, it's highly possible that we'll see new iMac later this month because that guy never failed about his rumors. Just having bought a base 5k model 3 weeks ago, seeing this tweet that early made me confused. I can't return this machine, but also I don't expect a proper refresh if this is going to happen this month. However, the current cooling system just can't handle with a 10900K unless they're going to limit its power which will be quite bad.

I think we read it differently then.
You assume elitist ass I read simplify the line and make it just like iPad or iPhone. Lite, medium, Pro.
That simple

I don't think that's true. Speaking only of form factor, MacBook Pro has gone through several drastic changes.
  • Late 2008 was the first unibody. Complete and utter redesign over the previous models.
  • 2012 (Retina) strongly slimmed and shrunk the design, dropped the weight a pound, shrunk bezels.
  • 2016 saw a complete redesign. Significantly smaller and slimmer, only USB-C ports, large trackpad, smaller bezels, addition of Space Grey.

For comparison, here's the iMac.
  • 2009 brought widescreen and new bezels over the 2008.
  • 2012 significantly thinned the computer, did not change the bezels or front view at all.
...and that's it, the 2012 form factor has stayed identical to 2019.

I didn't assume anything, that's just common sense

The iPad & iPhone didn't have "Pro" lines beforehand, unlike the iMac. Also a base iMP costs more than double the highest base price of the iMac. Really it's a pretty wild assumption on your part that Apple would reuse the iMac Pro name while slashing prices by >50%. So truly, that is pretty simple indeed ;)

There is something wrong with your timeline. Are you a time traveller? :D (jk)

When it comes to Tim Cook and Macintosh, I can't trust him anymore about a proper refresh. There was always something missing. (Wifi 6, BT 5, less ports, proper cooling etc.) As he doesn't like to spend on new design, I fear seeing a cpu/gpu bump again with the same chassis but this time single fan cooling system just can't handle it anymore.

I am doubtful of a redesign this year. I would like one, but the iMac is sandwiched in the Mac line right now and hasn't received much attention since 2012 other than the iMac Pro. I think a spec bump is possible, and at most the cooling system from the iMac Pro will come in and a T2 chip with SSDs across the line.

It is starting to get ridiculous though, the design is very out of date. While it has evolved, there has been almost no change since 2009. I don't expect them to change from the iMac on a stick design, but the 2019 iMac is basically just an evolved version of the G5 design. Chin and all. The back of the iMac looks almost the same as it did in 2005

I'm not saying I disagree with you, I'm still using the 2012 iMac. I would love a redesigned iMac, however I don't see it happening this year. If there are updates "soon" as mentioned by CoinX and a couple of other people/leaks, we are probably talking a website refresh. Even if there is an Apple event at the end of this month, I don't see them mentioning a complete redesign in regards to the iMac.

If there is a new iMac soon (according to the very reliable CoinX), would Apple really release a redesign in March. I doubt it. Personally I think it will be a spec bump, just like last years March iMac update.

CoinX says “iMac/Mac Mini soon - iPad 100% sure”, o think this mean the iPad will be released on 31 March but not the iMac, soon can mean 3/4 months. Still no intel cpus released and it would be the first time in the last years Apple refresh the iMac before the 2 years cycle (2012-2015-2017-2019). Also the update could be the iMac...but Pro (is the same as 2017).
