So, for 27” it will be released in 2021 March probably, because Tim ******* Apple. I’ll order beer to everyone for free when this greedy disgusting CEO will be fired or left Apple.
Any suggestions on the performance difference between the iMac 5700XT and the Mac Pro W5700X?

I'm excited this has True Tone. One of the biggest draw backs to my laptop is it's the only device i have that doesnt have true tone and it's really jarring at times.

Any suggestions on the performance difference between the iMac 5700XT and the Mac Pro W5700X?

They appear to be identical per videocardz.net. The Radeon Pro 5700 XT is a mobile part, but it has the same number of cores and same clock speeds and memory bandwidth as the W5700X. So guessing it is the same Navi 10 GPU, just in different packaging.

Intel first has to release a CPU in the BGA package the Mini uses, and so far, they have not done so. Intel did skip the 9th generation with this type of CPU, so maybe they will release a 10th Gen model.

Plus the Mini got it's latest update 139 days ago. The only reason you won't wait a year on a new mini is probably the ARM switch because that thing had some long product cycles.

If the Mac Pro 5700 is the same as the PC version, iMac's 5700 XT is a bit detuned compared to the PC version.

Lower power consumption( 225W vs 130W), lower clockspeed, etc.
iMac 5700XT is essentially double the vram of a normal version and detuned to 1500Mhz clockspeed... To be expected i suppose. iMac GPUs always have v low clock speeds unfortunately.

Finally! Glad to finally see an update come through. Okay, here are my thoughts regarding my situation, anyone feel free to chime in and tell me your thoughts.

Currently rocking a 2009 27in iMac that is barely hanging on. Been looking at upgrading for sometime, but this has to be the year to maximize business deduction. Also don't want to wait for redesign since I'm worried Apple will do away with removable RAM. So here's my thought:

Buy a pretty much maxed out new iMac. Only specs I'm not maxing are the nano-glass, SSD will be 2TB, and RAM i'll do base. Not sure how fast I'll upgrade the RAM to 128GB on my own, but that's the ultimate plan. Is there any cons to upgrading the RAM myself fairly quickly? Also will my computer be lagging if I max out the processor and graphics card, but leave RAM at base 8GB for now? Might be able to pull it off in the next few months, but probably would like to wait on the RAM as a X-Mas gift to myself.

Guess my main concern is will having on 8GB of RAM to start cause a problem with maxed out processor and graphics card? Don't want to damage the machine and shorten it's lifespan. Thanks!

Just bought one guys!

3,6‑GHz 10‑core Intel Core i9
8 GB 2666‑MHz DDR4‑memory
Radeon Pro 5700 XT with 16 GB GDDR6
1 TB SSD
Gigabit Ethernet

I never thought I would ever buy a computer with two times as much VRAM as RAM 😀

And thanks everyone for making the wait more bearable 😊
Congratulations to the person who began this thread! 7500+ posts later.

Damn you’re fast. I’ll wait for a disassembly to check if there is any improvement on cooling system and some benchmark scores. Then might wait longer to see the AS Macs.

Order RAM now from OWC, it will probably arrive before the iMac.

8GB is laughable - you really don't want to have that unless its just for few days waiting for the delivery.
So order at the same time as the iMac. $135 or so for 32GB is pretty much free compared to what Apple charges.
:)

Hard to justify buying into this spec bump. Don't really need the power. TrueTone would be nice, but that's about it.

Think I'll wait for the redesigned iMac with Apple Silicon. However, since the first models will likely be 24", I'll probably look for a Mac Mini and an Apple display instead. Hopefully there's a mid-tier variant of the XDR in the pipeline. And hopefully the Mini will be beefy enough to run the display properly.
