Is there anything known about what processors the first ARM Macs will use? Will they be same ones in the iPad Pro's? Sorry if this has been answered. Iv'e read back a few pages, but don't have the energy to ready 300 pages of comments at the moment. :p

No. Mac will have their own Silicon chip lineup. They won't put iPad chip in Macs. Still no details at all about any of the Mac Apple Silicon. See WWDC 2020 Keynote and 2020 State of the Union for more information. That's all we know.

OK great, that's a relief. Here is to hoping there is a 24 inch ARM iMAC or MacMini out later this year 👍

Nothing like A12Z in iPad Pro. Apple already has A13 in iPhone 11 and this year in Oct it's time for A14. Next year when iMacs come it's time for A15. So Hopefully we'll see A14Z or A15Z in iMacs. Also A12 in iPhones uses only 7W. Intel CPUs in iMac today use 65-95W so Apple can with cooling make AS CPUs in iMacs much more powerful. They also can add more cores to outperform Intel.

The smaller one will have the based a14 5nm chip later this year
And next year probably the bigger one will have a more igpu heavy one

As i've been using my MacBook Pro 2017 for the past 3 years predominantly, I'm used to using Touch ID for passwords and such. Now that the iMac has a T2 chip inside, I really thought we'd get a new keyboard with touch ID for logging in, payments, etc... Oh well.

I do have an apple watch series 5 though, which will make log in's fast. Is there no way to use my apple watch for purchases?

Update on the SSD situation: per reports from people with access to the official Apple Repair Manuals, the 2020 iMac uses socketed SSDs with proprietary connectors (like the iMac Pro and Mac Pro do).

So looks like reports of the SSDs being soldered on were incorrect.

But the ramifications are basically the same in the end? Or are there SSD's available to the public with the proprietary connectors?

Based on the info that it's the same as the Mac Pro SSD, go to the apple website and do a search for "SSD Kit for Mac Pro" and 1 - 8 TB options will be returned. Would these work in the new iMac 2020 ?

Order update, Preparing to ship! still says August 18th-20th, but this was quicker than I expected!

Probably needs to be hauled to china and through customs. Easily a week of shipping.
I was expecting a ups shipping from the US tomorrow and it got delayed till Monday because of customs and ups not delivering here on the weekend... it literally took me 40 minutes to notice that i need to pay and pay and it drew out the shipment another four days.
Now obviously Apple takes care of customs and fees for you here. But still. A solid week plus unforeseen delays can be common.

What do you mean by "hauled to china"? The computers are shipping from China.
Preparing to ship can easily sit there for a while so it usually means nothing. (I've had orders that were 'preparing' for days)
Anyway, what shipping from US? Unless I've missed something due to Covid, nothing ships from US as its all shipping from China. Occassionally you get stuff from Cork and US market gets Mac Pro from US but thats about it.

If a new designed 24” Apple Silicon iMac is happening in November, I think I can wait.
It really isn’t that far away.
But if the 2020 AS Mac that Tim referenced turns out to be a MBA, I’ll be truly disappointed.

get ready to for a disappointment as the latest round of rumors points to 2021 launch of AS iMac.
