I like the idea of USB4 to allocate both channels (rx and tx) to one 80 Gbps in case it is terminally connected with a monitor. It could open the market to higher framerate and bigger screens on one cable.

Let's make it clear so we'll stop wasting time arguing on what's possible or not (lol):

iMac Pro needs RDNA2.0. RDNA2.0 is scheduled for release in Q4 2020. Plus, it will have hardware ray tracing, which is a nice marketing thing for Apple "you are going to be able to do real time ray tracing * insert audience wow here with a cute scripted demo from people knowing their text by heart *".

So no iMac Pro until Q4.

iMac will have up to NAVI 10 XT, which is mid range GPU, and this is fine for iMac since iMac Pro will have the top tier GPUs with more powerful Cascade Lake Xeon CPUs.

That's it ! It's clear, simple, defined. Both don't overlap each other, just like now.
There is little doubt that Apple wont include something newly released in a product. The normal way is last years tech. Unfortunately.

If these are really released this week I might have to reconsider a few things. I just set up an old MacBook Pro as a Plex Server and upgraded my wife's iMac with an internal SSD to get another year out of it. I didn't think new iMacs would be released before the autumn since we hadn't been hearing that much and it seemed like Covid may have delayed them.

The 2017 iMac may be relegated to Plex Server earlier than planned, poor thing.

guys, relax. I doubt its tomorrow. More likely tuesday. Apple hardly releases anything on mondays

Oh, we're not getting exited about the announcement, or anything remotely sensible like that. We are excited about the rumour of a leak that may or may not happen today.....

Coming next week. Stay tuned for a leak tomorrow. (Not from me)

MBP 13 was announced before lunch last week as I recall it - European time. I am here and waiting...

A change in form does not really need a keynote slot in WWDC unless there are new hardware to utilise for developers that is not covered by MP, and I doubt that. iPP got the LiDAR scanner and we got the iPhone SE completely without keynotes. MBP 13 was not really new, was it? Barely noticeable upgrades and that new keyboard of course but really not much to talk about from a WWDC perspective. Each of these products are larger or mort important than the iMac most likely. The iMP and MP were announced on WWDC with the reason to give developers a hint up what the Mac platform can do and that Apple want to provide such a computer. iMac, MBP etc are obvious for everybody and their existence is not questioned. Pencil support (not touch) support to iMac and an ARM Mac would be something that fits WWDC. A new design to package an stale update from Intel and AMD should be completely uninteresting for WWDC.

How would you distinguish between live streaming and prerecorded video without an audience that gives feedback. No, it can be released today without much fanfare from Apples side- the tech press will do the marketing for free and everything will be fine.

I hope to place an order later today if it takes my fancy.

Don’t ruin our fun! Nice diversion while locked down.
The MBP13 last week was on a Monday.

Not true at all. IMP got Vega even before PCs, MBP has RDNA cards that nobody else had. Intel used to give Apple priority for their new CPUs. Apple has been among the first to include TB2&TB3. First to build a multitouch smartphone, first to include Lidar. Many times in the past Macs have been leading in performance when they came out, offering the best tech available.

BTW, Apple introduced the new iPad in April, the new MBP in May: my guess is that nothing is going to happen before June.

Facts. Guy above said leak was coming yesterday, nothing. Then they're talking about iMac 27" ship dates have slipped. If you look at some of the other products like the new iPad Pro they also have 2 week delivery times.
