Hey thanks, that is good "Official News" and confirms that both companies want to fix the problem - that is my "take away" from this announcement.
Given that this issue is mostly an "exchange server" issue it probably represents serious revenues for Microsoft on the email / exchange side of their business so hopefully a fix is imminent.
If smaller companies that have been working well on exchange servers 2010 and below, are forced to upgrade to exchange server 2010 SP2 and above, it is a dilemma for both Microsoft and Apple - given that there are many legacy users that may upgrade to El Capitan and they face the upgrade decision - 2016 or 2011- and blame both companies?
I was expecting Microsoft to say "upgrade" but since 2016 is caught up in this too it probably is not an option.
Bottom line - I am quite happy to hear this and will wait for the fix !
Edit - This only affects exchange accounts and does not affect excel, word or regular outlook use, so for the most part office 2011 is still working with El Capitan
