Will probably buy the new smart keyboard with it apparently going to be backlit, and have scissor switch action. It will be backwards compatible with the 2018 iPP’s as there will be no change in form factor.
Yes there will - the new camera setup means the hole for the cameras will be a different size and shape.

I can't see myself replacing my iPad Pro 10.5 any time soon, unless the bright white spot defect on my screen finally supernovas and destroys my house. I have said it many times and will say it again - the software is the limiting factor on these things for most people, probably even for the first gen iPad Pros, not the hardware.

Just a shame iOS seems to be a buggy mess every other release, and Apple makes some weird design choices like removing that nifty "all split-view capable apps" slide over list they had in iOS 9/10. I sure love guessing if an app will work with multiple windows or not, and I love going back to the homescreen to add and remove things from my dock because split-view can only be activated by docked apps  (as far as I know anyway).

I'm using an iPad mini 4 right now so it seams likely. Thinking I'll keep the mini 4 for reading and watching YouTube and then go with the 12.9" iPad Pro to use SideCar, Affinity Designer, and to sketch on.

Yep. All I needed was a search function for the slide over list. Ever since Apple switched to the "show dock and try to see if you can drag the app" approach to multitasking, I've been using split view and slide over far less than before. Too much guesswork and not as simple to activate as before.

So now Digitimes is saying 14X and 5G in fall.

MacRumors is sticking with a Q1 2020 time frame though based on other rumors, and is suggesting two releases for 2020 which I don’t believe. I don’t know if it’s going to be spring 2020 or fall 2020, but I’m pretty sure it won’t be both.

Yeah, I doubt Apple's gonna pull another iPad 3/4 scenario.

Obviamente, sim, sempre prefiro a Microsoft, mas há rumores de que a Apple fará a concorrência chorar!

Yes will replace my wife’s Gen 1 12.9 and my Gen 2 10.5 with two 12.9 A13X models. I‘ll get the keyboard case and a mouse with mine to use for school.

This is definitely one of those situations where patience is going to be tested.

My Pro 9.7” is perfectly fine, I’ve got the money to get a Pro 11”, expect that the 11” will be more than adequate for my usage and don’t envision I’ll get much use out of the yet to be revealed triple camera system, yet due to everyone going on about the new chip and RAM upgrades, I’m still here hoping for some sort of announcement soon.

My 2018 iPad Pro 12.9" is still a beast. Unless the A14X CPU/GPU is mind blowing, I'm good for the next 4-5 years. The only thing i'll consider is the rumored back-lit smart keyboard, if it works with the 2018 model. (i would assume so, since the design would remain unchanged).

if Apple says i can play Cyberpunk 2077, i'm in. LOL.

Apple has had a history of innovating on iPad and trickle featured down to iPhone. 5G, however is not coming to iPad in 2020. (not before the iPhone at least).

It's unlikely the keyboard would work on the 2018 if they change the 2020 to include a double or triple camera.

It would take a lot to get me to upgrade my 12.9 2018 pro. As said above, it's the software that's the predominate limiting factor for a lot of users. Even my 9.7 1st gen iPad Pro still runs very fast. I still have trouble with simple tasks like adding files to dropbox.

Good point, and so disappointing if true. Although if the camera cut out is only getting bigger on the new model, then theoretically it would still work with the 2018" iPad Pro?

It all depends on how much Apple wants to fleece its loyal customers.

Sometimes Apple surprises us with a case that fits multiple generations of a device. But most of the time they'll move the volume rocker up 2mm, slightly lower the camera or rearrange the smart cover magnet positioning in order to destroy compatibility. Its pretty disgusting and I'm always surprised at how little backlash they get over it.

Anyway, I dont even want an a13X. I just want them to announce it so that we'll have a better understanding of their 2020-21 roadmap. Maybe they've got some grand fresh ideas on the iPads future... or maybe its yet another spec bump and they brag about about speed but offer no first party apps that actually use it.

No need for a new iPad Pro every year. The A12x is still a beast. They will wait and release the next iPad pro with the new 5nm A14x. I think the iPad 8 will get the A12 and the iPad Air will be dropped. The mini will continue with no changes.

I personally think they need to do something, with the Surface Neo releasing later this year (if it doesn't get pushed back) they will have more competition.

Considering how far ahead Apple is with their A-chips, new iPhone processors are not needed every year either. Volume of iPP is too low for a yearly update of a processor. Wish they had a dual processor setup in iPP and no "X" chips and thereby drop-in the current iPhone processor, perhaps clocked higher. Year updates would be no problem. Chip in 8 Gb RAM as well. Probably too complicated electronics to happen.

For those who upgrade in the beginning of an iPP cycle, there is no need for yearly updates. However, buying an iPP in the end of the cycle makes i obsolete earlier. Intersting how Tech resemble a flask of milk in som aspects.

The magnet positioning MUST change if they put in a triple camera, cuz there is currently a magnet right where the larger camera would be.

My two cents, I'm quite confident there will be a new iPad Pro next month. Apple has stuck to a 1.5 year cycle since the first iPP, in which the current model is now approaching the end of said cycle.

I see the current 11" iPP isn't listed as "New" on Apples website anymore either and it was included in the Black Friday Apple Store Promotion (whereas every other current generation product was excluded), which for me is a subtle indicator its successor is very close by.

I'm looking forward to it and hope to see a new iPP next month. :)
