Hey you'll get no argument here, I love my iPads as well. I guess the way I justify paying a lot for an iPhone is I use it as much out of the house as I do my iPads at home.
My iPad has LTE and is always in my purse. I probably use it the same way most people use their phones (quick Google check/web browsing, GPS, etc). I find these quite convenient to do when one doesn't have to wait for the iPad to connect to personal hotspot. :)

Honestly, the primary purpose of my iPhone is as (point-and-shoot) camera and to provide a phone number for iMessage/SMS and call forwarding to my iPads. :D

As I have stated in other threads recently: I do not think that Apple is going to raise prices in non-US countries this year.
Concerning the US, I personally expect little to no price hikes.

I'd like a 4.7" sized new SE at $500-650. A12/3GB, LCD, TouchID and similar chassis as iPhone 6-8 are all fine with me.

My mom still prefers 4". I'm kinda dreading when the battery on her current iPhone SE dies or it develops other problems.

Yeap I’ll be looking at a new SE if it’s based on the iPhone 8, and will be deciding should I shouldn’t I.. but probably won’t.
It will certainly throw a cat amongst the pigeons if they do make a new SE.

Ehh, the most I’ve ever paid was $969 for my iPhone 7 Plus, and that is about as high as I would want to pay.

I’m on an 8 Plus now and I’m quite happy with it.

Smartphone market is saturated now and will not bear this price, especially with incremental upgrades. Apple will have to again resort to incentives and buyback program to even maintain current pricing for 2019 iPhones.

I'm with you on this one, I don't feel the iPhone's stand out enough from the crowd to justify the more premium pricing anymore. Android has matured enough for me to feel iOS isn't quite the holy grail anymore.

I think people can affort 2,000$ iphone , dont care what they do but they still want it and buy it

foreign country worker make 300$ per months and everyone has iphone 7/8/x even xs max on their hand , how that :)

to me i can buy iphone $2,000
apple card or att next = 100$ per month

american , every body own debt
who care > live fun and happy

There's better things I can do with $1700 than buy the latest top of the line iPhone.

A $799 128GB iPhone XR will accomplish 100% of the things I'd be doing on a higher end iPhone at a fraction of the cost. Heck, even the iPhone 7 already does the trick.

Same goes for my 8 Plus. One more payment and it's paid off... and I'm keeping it a 3rd year. Even if an upgrade was $500 I'd say no.

This isn't the days of the 4 and 5... upgrades year to year just don't make much sense to me. The 8 Plus will still do a fine job at everything... Apple can stick their pricing.

Not saying starting 1,699$
highest model price 1,699$ << which is biggest storage,

As an observation, I'm not sure why people go on about the Samsung Galaxy Fold's $US1,980 price tag. Yes its excessive, and value for money and its overall durability aside, if you add a pair of wireless charging AirPods to the most expensive iPhone Xs Max 4GB/512GB you're only 14% away from the Fold 12GB/512GB (which is also 5G as I understand it) as the Fold comes with Galaxy Buds in the box. With any sort of price rise with the iPhone XI in the coming months that small gap gets even smaller.

Definitely not buying either of those products though!

Will you buy new iphone if it raised to $1,699

The simple fact is, the higher the prices get the less frequently people will upgrade. Apple want the best of both worlds, the absolute MAX prices they can charge and everyone upgrading to new hardware at the first opportunity.

Unfortunately for Apple everyone has a cut off point (apart from stupid people who literally THROW their money away), and and also for the UK market Brexit is on its way, and if remainers are to be believed it will be the apocalypse, so people will barely be able to afford to eat (or something) let alone stupidly priced incremental upgrades to a smartphone.

So to summarise, prices going up (Apple style), innovation slowing down (this year you can have three cameras!), people keeping their phones longer. Cool.

There is a reason Apple has stopped publicly reporting units shipped/sold quarterly. It’s been well documented that iPhone sales in units are down by a fair amount. Orders from component manufacturers are down, layoffs at Foxconn, even Samsung coming after Apple for compensation because Apple didn’t purchase nearly as many OLED panels as they contracted for. Many people are holding onto their phones due to maturation of the product but likely more importantly, because they do not justify these prices for the upgrades they receive.

Yeah, all foreigners have 300$ to live on - and they all have the latest gadgets. Wonderful in depth story you have there, and so well reasearched it’s mind boggling.

Haha indeed, sometimes I wonder why we even bother entertaining this rubbish. Jokes on us I guess, Ah!

iPhones are already that price here in Canada depending on model and size. My 64GB iPhone XS Max cost me $1784.27 with taxes. I won’t be upgrading for a long time now.
Why the devil is it so expensive in Canada? For the base model?!

I appreciate that everyone's cutoff is different, but for $1700, you can get a computer AND an ipad.

In the past, so we all think the price of iphone around 700 or 800? later on they jump to $ 1,449 which is now , so the price increases who can stop it,
You're comparing the 512GB Xs Max price ($1450) with the 16GB iPhone 6plus price ($750). Not an apples to apples comparision.
Has anyone asked where are these "supposed prices" coming from!?
Pulled out of his rear orifice.

Our dollar is crap, that's why it's so expensive. For example, XS Max is $1099 USD. Convert that to CAD and you get $1446.83. Tax is 13% here in Ontario, so it adds up quickly. If you want to know something crazy, the 512GB XS Max is $1999 + tax.

H-E-L-L N-O!

I paid $1k once and that was too much.

Apple is moving away from my needs and wants.
Exactly. The price used to not even move between models. But ever since the installments came, the prices went crazy because people just looked at the payment. Now even the payment is getting ridiculous when it is more than even the top tier unlimited plans.
