For an iPhone, there likely would be a cut off point for me where I'm not going to spend a ridiculous amount of money for something I upgrade annually. The iPhone is a commodity, given though how we all are completely immersed into it in our daily lives. I don't believe the iPhone X Plus will be anything near $1500. I Believe the next iPhone X plus will range around $1250 for starting price.

Even for $1250 I'd have to consider keeping the 8 Plus another year and upgrade in 2019... assuming the hardware upgrade is minimal and I'd be looking at the same screen size. It's not as if the 8 Plus or the X aren't going to be up to the task. Hardware today is so advanced be it cell phones... tablets... or computers and can easily last for years.

I'm of the opinion that Apple products are already grossly overpriced (although you totally get what you pay for and that is a quality product) but my serious question is... When will the price increases end? Not as long as Apple's loyal fanbase continues to pay top dollar on a yearly basis.

We might not see $1500 next year... but I'd bet my life we'll see it within the next 2-3 years.

another reason why I always pass on plus versions. I already dont like the size and on top of that its always atleast 200 bucks more than base phone.

I almost certainly will sit next year out, and maybe the year after, assuming my battery life on my 8 doesn't degrade to a poor level.

I love my 8 tremendously, and I have a good one (won the Apple QA/QC lottery). I get exhausted going through the QA/QC rigmarole and stress whenever I get a new phone, plus it just isn't fun to deal with trying to baby the phone til you get a case or screen protector, nor is it fun to set the phone up as new with the old phone in the left hand and the new phone in the right hand painstakingly going setting through setting for 3 hours setting them exactly identical in every single way.

i carried my X around in a padded bag meant for my gaming headsets for a few days til a got my case. lol

I wanted the X but had a very broken 6s and couldn’t wait the extra month and a half, so I got the 8 Plus, which I’m very happy with. Still, if there really is an X Plus, that will be very, very tempting.

I upgrade every year so 2018 will be no different. There is always going to be something better in the future, that doesn't take away from how great the X is, right now.

No, the cost has gone up too much to upgrade frequently. I’m hoping my 7 will last until I replace it with the 2019 org 2020 model.

Nobody knows what next year's iPhone will be, so how can anyone possibly answer this question with any certainty?

I almost certainly won’t. My philosophy is that if a phone was ever good at all it should be good for at least 2-3 years. I don’t need to spend several hundred dollars or more just for the sake of having the newest thing. Next year’s phone would have to offer something really new and unexpected for me to buy it. A faster processor and an extra gig of RAM won’t do it for me.

Of course no body know but most S version is improve sucess , and people buy it more just like iphone 7 and iphone 8 = 7 is improve for 6S = 8 improve for 7

so why not X next yrs then ,

I went with the 8 Plus this year and I usually keep my phones at least 2 years, but I’m leaving the door open for an X Plus next year. However, it won’t be at a “no matter what” price.

If Kuo is correct and there will be 3 phones next year with one being an LCD display, then I’m figuring that the price of 6.5” may be making some hearts stop and the LCD will be the “affordable” model. I’m seeing the 6.5” at an easy $1199/$1399 for the two storage sizes, but Apple doesn’t fail to surprise. It could be higher depending on what else they offer in the device and if they still have to deal with Samsung. I’d have to evaluate whether or not it would be worth it.

Why? My X runs 170mbps speedtest on XM. I cant fathom the need for the bandwodth on a mobile device in the near future.
Eventually sure... but in the the meanwhile battert will age through cycles, multiple device generations before anything like that bandwidth is remotely worthwhile.
Even Crickets capped 8mbps is fine, can even do HD netflix style 4mbps streams fine.
If I can get Gigabit LTE, I'm canceling my stupid 140mbps wifi

Apple is calculator

1000$ iphone 2017 = 24-30 months finance
( 25$-30$ per month )

2017-2018-2019 = $1200-1400

30-36 mont finance increase time
or monthly go up from 25-30$ to 40-60$

that how they do in future

Just pay cash. I resell my wife’s and I after the new one comes out and I end up getting a profit from each phone.

Ultimately, a color is not going to be enough of an influence just for others to purchase over a $1000 iPhone. It's going to have to offer more than that AND you have to factor can the consumer afford cost of the 2018 iPhone X as well.

What has Apple done to deserve my absolute loyalty you ask ?

They continually put out a premium, well-made product, that secures my security and has a continual support for five years of iOS updates with excellent customer service to stand behind the Product. That's what they have 'done' to secure my loyalty to this company and I will continue to support Apple if those expectations are met.

So what are you saying, that your X won't be fit enough to be your iphone next year? Is it that bad that you gotta upgrade every 12 months? Will the XI in 2018 be that great that you just have to get it? I'm thinking it won't be. But that won't stop you. You'll get it regardless. You're a relentless iphone acquirer.

If everyone sat out a couple of years then that would force Apple's hand to be even better and more innovative. But as long as we have people like you who buys it every god forsaken year, they won't be innovating ****, just small incremental changes that we see year in year out. I'm tired of that. Yes, sturdy device, so much so, that I myself haven't upgraded for over 2 years.

It Seems you're trying to push your own narrative on my post using snark. That said, I have the privilege of upgrading every single year to a new iPhone, so regardless, I take advantage of that. And I choose the iPhone, because it fits best for my preferences inside Apples ecosystem and it's a well-made device, which I expect from Apple given their price point. There is nothing wrong with upgrading every year, it's just a matter if someone can justify the price point and do they appreciate the upgrade.

Why should everybody be disgruntled about the iPhone as you are? Just because the iPhone doesn't meet your expectations means that everybody should share your same negative attitude. Some are completely content with Apples direction and the iPhone X overall. You have chosen not to upgrade over two years, that's your prerogative. Nobody can change your own perception except yourself. But the way I see it, you don't like to see others who are content with the iPhone X because it doesn't meet your own standards.

And please stop using the word 'innovating' it's sorely misused on a tech forum and overly redundant, and not applied appropriately. Not everyone is going to agree with Apples direction with their chosen products, but that doesn't make them any less successful a company because of what you believe they should or should not innovating.

Not anything to do with Apple, but I’m just opting out next years. I’ve already bought APP+ when I normally don’t( since upgrade every year) and wait until 2019 and from there I’ll see if I’ll Resume normal yearly upgrades or Space up my upgrades every two years so than 2021.

Yes, I upgrade every year. Will surely upgrade to iPhone X Plus or whatever is the next best thing.

This year's iPhone X 256gb cost $1500 with Apple Care. I am sure next year's top phone will cost either same or slightly more. Get ready guys, we have 10 months left. Question is if you guys plan on spending on the next iPad Pro???

I am waiting for Apple's wireless charger for the iPhone, Apple Watch and Air Pods.
