I’m ready and can afford to update my original pro but the way things are going now I’m holding off. Not like I can sit in a coffee shop and enjoy it lol or travel with it.

Yeah considering the recent events kind of don’t know why they released it now but it was probably decided months ago that it was way before perhaps even the outbreak started in China. Just kind of odd. I would assume it would effect some sales because of it.

I think I will be keeping my iPad Pro 11 1st Gen. It's still blazing fast and according to the Apple Website, the magic keyboard is compatible with the 1st Gen Pro. I don't see enough difference in the new one versus the old one to make me lay out another 900 dollars for a 256gb tablet.

I may look at the magic keyboard sometime in the future, but the press release also says the trackpad in 13.4 will work with a Magic Mouse, so that may circumvent the need for a new keyboard. We'll see next week when 13.4 releases.

From the Press Release

  • iPadOS 13.4 with trackpad support will be available on March 24 as a free software update for all iPad Pro models, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, and iPad mini 4 and later.
  • Trackpad support will be available on any iPad running iPadOS 13.4, and work with Apple’s Magic Mouse 2, Magic Trackpad 2 and the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro. Third-party mice connected over Bluetooth or USB are also supported.

I’m keeping my 11” iPad Pro. After using 64GB model over a year, I’ve recently upgraded to a 256GB model and I’m staying for good. For my usage scenario, I don’t think this a new generation. It’s more of a makeup for 2020.

+ 128GB base storage
+ WiFi 6 Support
+ Additional camera (if you ever use it)
+ Better mic

- The rest is same (no info on A12Z and RAM). Feels like an SoC update of Apple Watch Series 5

8GB of RAM inside would do it for me! Current iPad Pro 11” only has 4GB inside it! ?Want a future proof iPad!

A12Z is still an A12! But still a RAM upgrade to 8 would make my buy a new one!

unlikely to happen for awhile. iOS has always been efficient with memory usage and Apple notoriously stingy on RAM. If anything 6 on the next. No mention of an upgrade over 4 on tech specs so I would assume this model rocks 4.

Probably not. My 2nd Gen 12.9 is still perfectly fine and does everything I want. If someone starts making a keyboard case with UK layout and trackpad for the older iPads I would be interested in that

Well I was using a 256GB 12.9 2018 iPP and found a great deal not too long ago on the 1TB 12.9 2018 iPP. Not too much of a price difference after selling the older one. (both cellular models)
I got more storage and the upgrade to 6GB of RAM along with a newer warranty.

Definitely keeping this one for a long time.

already ordered a 12.9, was thinking of going up in size. and the wife now gets a nice IPP 11 for hers (she always gets my hand me downs right now she has the 10.5)

I'm already on a two year cycle. I buy the best iPP I can afford, save a bit every month for two years, then buy the top of the line gain, rinse & repeat.

The keyboard I am very interested in, but that price?!!

I see zero reason for me to upgrade from what I currently have. I don't use the camera on my ipad until I sell my phones, then I need photos of those devices. ipad's in the past few years are still going strong, not one issue so I'll just stick with what I've got. Still have ipad pro first gen that has zero issues, nothing slow for what I use them for.

I've been set to order for several months now and have $1,900 in credit saved. However, looking over the specs this looks to be an 2018 11" iPad Pro with a new camera, an "A12Z" chip which looks to be an incremental update to the A12, with a new $300 keyboard.

To upgrade my 2017 10.5" iPad Pro to my desired setup would cost me $2,045 after tax and I just don't see the value in that personally. I want a new iPad, but the updates look very mild compared to the 2018 model and I don't want to pay that much for something incrementally better than what's been on the market for a while. I was hoping for mentions of display improvements and a meaningfully faster SoC (lets see how the A12Z performs before we judge it though).

I’m cheerfully hanging onto my launch day IPP 11 inch which is still coping with all my needs with absolutely no sign of stress....quite the best iPad I’ve had.

Not that bothered by the camera and, if I really want it, can always buy the trackpad keyboard but wow, it seems very, very expensive.

Having been one of those bitten by the ipad 3 debacle, I also suspect that this is a short life update before a 5G IPP with a beefier processor comes along.

Kool Aid isn't a strong drink. ;)

It seems to be if it makes somebody with significant issues leave their old devices that aren’t even 2 years old behind to buy something that is the same thing but barely a facelift.

But who knows what else you’re drinking over there... ;)

But sure, the shareholder in me encourages you to buy, not just one but multiple of these.

My 2nd gen 10.5 Pro works fantastically for Streaming, Gaming and all my productivity needs.

I'll upgrade to the 2020 Pro in 2022 :D

I don't think it would be that long ! 18 Months Cycle reckons we could have a new avatar in somewhere 0ct-Nov 2021
