Will you leave the Apple ecosystem because of CSAM?

No and the people who will are maybe .5% of apple’s current customers. Most of them will come back or buy another iPhone anyway. It’s all whining from them currently anyway.
I would not really call it "whining". Apple is integrating a dangerous backdoor to control the content of your devices. If they do that check on their servers, I do not care, but I definitely do not want to get a counter on my iDevice, which may trigger a control check by some clerk at Apple, who "approves" my content. Things on my devices do not have to be "approved".

It IS whining, what action are y’all doing to stop/voice you guys don’t like it? Are y’all selling your iPhones right this second? Most aren’t, are y’all making petitions? I haven’t seen a single post about one in here. it’s all bark in these posts and no bite. And yes I understand the implications of what it brings.

This is a user-forum and we do not have the power to stop Apple, but we may express our concerns. Furthermore, there are quite some experts outside of the forum with the same arguments.

And just call us barking and not biting is a bit offensive...

If you do agree, just sit back, wait and download iOS 15.

I think a minute amount of people might leave, but for what device? Every other manufacturer is going to follow suit. If someone is that worried about it then they can turn off iCloud photos.

The reality is that the majority of the population isn’t even going to be aware of this.

If you’re offended do something about it. People here have more power than they think especially if they utilize social media.

I’m already on iOS 15 dev beta but I don’t use iCloud for anything but keychain and messages.

It will not happen immediately but some people might change to Linux and apple might risk to loose the image of the privacy protecting computer company that they always claimed to be with a wider audience. You can buy a cheaper Android if an iPhone doesn't add usability, privacy, value or prestige anymore.

They must party at Samsung HQ.

For Android Phones with custom ROM I guess. They won’t be able to follow suit if you can modify the source code yourself 😂

I think the point here is that Apple is installing a backdoor onto your device. That means they can scan for any content they want. Currently it’s just iCloud Photos, but when they flip the switch on their servers, it can be anything.

Their pro-privacy image better be shattered into pieces the moment they release this CSAM thing. Or their pride and tradition will drive them to protect whats left as much as they could before too long.

Either way, I no longer have any choice to jump out of Apple ecosystem whether I am ok with CSAM scan or not.

In light of the recent scanda, will you consider moving out of the Apple ecosystem?
1. It's not a scandal. They announced it publicly, and have now gone into significant detail on the implementation. The majority of the "backlash" (such as it is) is down to people not understanding how it works, and to some pretty shoddy media reporting.
2. To answer your question, no. Obviously not.

And a considerably large portion of people voicing concerns over how Apple could keep their policy in line forever. Basically, they are worrying about the people behind the CSAM system rather than the system itself.
Then what are you doing spending large sums of money with a company you don't trust? They've explained how the system will be used. If you don't believe them, then you have no reason to believe anything they've ever said about privacy.

No issues. If I were a gubbmint that wanted to track/check/keep an eye one you, I would have social engineered the hell out of people already with apps and social meeja (like they do already) and not rely on a system designed to be less obtrusive and probably not get access (that is as I understand the press releases and descriptions for this service as it stands, I reserve the right to change my mind).

Very poor role out of the info though, part leak, part knee jerk reaction?

Nobody has the right to judge someone else’s purchase decision. Apple failed on privacy but that’s hardly anything new. They still produce good devices with insane power. I just have to be more conscious about what I put on Apple devices from that point on.

Instead, I absolutely hate diode narratives like your comments as if without privacy the world is suddenly over, or Apple has become nothing despite their powerful devices and still good ecosystems.
