Your 10700 is still getting GPU updates?

Sorry, this was my Lenovo Yoga. My i7-10700 is disconnected and unused at the moment.

The i7-10700 has a GTX 1050 Ti in it right now and a GTX 1660 Ti available. Not as cool as the 1080 that Jensen autographed this week but still quite serviceable.

I believe MS typically reinstalls components during updates, that's been the long running complaint about the debloating scripts - you have to keep doing it, otherwise the stuff you don't want, will start appearing

Stuff can come back on the macOS side too. I do a debloat on major macOS updates and I've had some stuff come back even on point releases. With Windows, though, there are far more subsystems to look at.

Ah. I am a firm believer of skipping GPU updates unless there is a security issue, or there is a game I am playing that would be affected performance/bug wise.

Updating the drivers didn't fix the issue. DeepSeek gave me several other suggestions to try. Other options are to test my 2015 MacBook Pro on Windows and macOS and to get the i7-10700 working again to see if it's just the Yoga or if it's on all my Windows 11 systems. One of the suggestions is that it's a CODEC issue which I can believe. The solution would be to download it from the Windows App store. But there are several things listed to try including fiddling with hardware settings.

Some good news related to windows 11
Windows 11 sucks slightly less now, thanks to a June update

The latest Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11 is among the heaviest in recent memory, bringing a new low-latency mode for smoother system navigation in addition to new features and hundreds of bug and exploit patches. It's a much needed relief package for Windows 11 as Microsoft puts a renewed focus on its flagship operating system, which has fallen into ill repute among tech enthusiasts over the past several years.

I keep my systems on the latest of everything and everything just works. If there are new drivers, i get them. I don't get them through dell however.

BIOS is different than updates. I rarely install BIOS updates on a working machine, and I gulp and pray when I do update my BIOS. LOL.

Updates on the other hand, I do after a few days just fine.
So far every BIOS update has reset my TPM, and OC settings. So unless there is a compelling reason I just leave it as is.

Asus is stingy on BIOS updates. I think that the last one I received was in 2021 or 2022 for a board I bought in 2020. I've heard that you have to buy their expensive boards if you want more than a few years of BIOS support. One huge downside is that it doesn't support NVMe Gen 4 SSDs.

Another in a long line of Microsoft mismanagement of.....EVERYTHING...Phone Link, worked great for 3 years since I had my pixel 8 pro. Last update broke it. Of course. I just installed google messages web as an app and it works perfectly. I get notifications for my messages now. I never used the other features of link, just messages. So I disabled it and moved to messages on the web and it's so much better. Way to go microsoft. Ruin everything you create.

Logged into my PC and got one of those screens that you can't bypass and it asked you to set up a bunch of customization options including something that remembers all of your browsing history. I clicked okay on the first page without thinking and then skipped all of the options and then it presented me with a page to log into my Microsoft account with no options to bypass it. I just clicked Next a few times and it logged me into my local account after telling me invalid username. So they are getting more insistent on having an online account which I do not want to do.

If my system is working, I absolutely will not update the bios. Why fix what's not broken
I was just checking my bios version and making sure I can run the 5800X3D once it gets re-released. What I discovered is that I'm on a beta version of the bios (F37B) for the Aorus X570 Pro Wifi motherboard.

Its been working flawlessly, and bios version F30 added Ryzen 5000 support so I'm good there but it is a beta version. I'm rather surprised by that. I don't recall updating the bios on this motherboard - especially using a beta version.

I'm still of the mind to let sleeping dogs lie and not touch the bios

I had to update the BIOS on my motherboard to upgrade to Windows 11. I'm just happy that Asus provided the update. Their track record on BIOS updates isn't great overall and I could have been stranded.

I have an Asrock H670M Pro... most of the past BIOS updates have been microcode updates for Intel processors. My processor is not in those CPU groups, so I leave the BIOS as it is. I figure they change more than they tell us... so if it is working, I leave it alone. I am about 10 BIOS updates behind, and all is still working fine.
