The Anthropocene
An aspiration that is just a bit ambitious, if not insanely optimistic, I would have thought.....

Because: Is a seriously good Haut-Médoc supposed to last the week-end?

Two nights - absolute max - is what I would give it. More likely one.....

Hehe, yes I think it may be slightly over optimistic...

Just visited a place that sells wines and Italian cheeses with some colleagues.

We all stocked up......that sounds so, pedestrian, and greedy and needy. A re-write phrases it: A number of us sallied forth today and purchased - after giving the matter much thought - some wine.

My purchases included Montalcino, (a few bottles), a decent Alsace Riesling, a decent Alsace Pinot Blanc, and a white Chilean reserve.

Oh, I've had some very fine Montalcinos. And I do have a soft spot for Alsatian whites too. Hope you enjoy them!

In a coffee shop.
I'm quite fond of Alsatian whites. Actually, I recently had a tasting of 12 Rieslings, including a delightful one from Alsace, which was my overall favorite.

Although tonight I'm working on a bottle of Sancerre.

Yes, I find that - in recent times - I have developed quite a passion for wines form Alsace: Pinot Blanc, the wonderful Gewürztraminer, and, of course, Riesling - which, to my palate, is far more agreeable when it hails for Alsace than when it hails from anywhere else (even Germany, and I am writing as someone who loves a good Riesling).

Alsace wines tonight: The Riesling I opened last night was finished (quite delicious it was, too) and was followed by a Pinot Blanc from Alsace (and also from the same wine maker). Quite delicious.

i did which leads me to this question can you recommend some to me? my wife is the one who does the wine shopping and she tends to get some good ones but i would like to experiment with different rieslings or similar wines.

Anything from Alsace.

To my mind, this region is the king (or queen) of Riesling (and similar wines).
