Yup have had it! Liked it a lot, probably a little too much lol!!! There are very few Stone beers, those pesky one off beers that are on tap only, I haven't tried at least once. Been to many of their festivals both in Escondido and San Diego. Love them very much!!

Not Stone, BUT I went to this a couple years back in San Diego ... it was awesome!

It's crazy I was such a big beer drinker and Samuel Adam's fan. Recently lost 30 pounds and my love for beer just isn't there. I only have a glass if I go out to dinner somewhere depending on the situation. I only drink black coffee, water, and green tea now.

Boy I had a nice little batch of Belgium and German beers this weekend:

Kostritzer Schwarzbier
Brasserie Dupont Saison
Peche Mel Scaldis - Peach beer, had this as a taster. Not to bad.
Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn
Cuvee des Trolls
Barista Chocolate Stout - My favorite of the bunch and good god was it good!
Schneider Weisse Mein Aventinus Tap6
Erdinger Oktoberfest/Festweibe
Tripel Karmeliet

It was a good night to say the least. The Chocolate Stout was the winner for me out of the bunch. Don't get me wrong all of them were tasty, but the Barista. Yum!

That sounds as though it was a great selection of beers, and you have some superb ones among the list.

Must say that I am more than a little partial to the Tripel Karmeliet.

I love me a good Tripel or Quad! This one was no different. It was good, very good in fact. However the stout for me took the gold for the night. But then again, I love me a good stout and this one did not disappoint!

There's a nice Gavi being chilled at the moment. I've put off taking my allergy medication in this hot weather so I can enjoy a glass or two of the wine.

We forgot the wine. Probably for the best. Gin and tonics over dinner. It was a new experience, but refreshing.

Glad you enjoyed your gin & tonics, - a drink I rarely take - but, personally, I tend to prefer wine, - or, sometimes, beer - with dinner.

Gavi sounds interesting.

I think I'll keep it chilled until the weather cools. Once I chill a white, I don't take it back to the cellar. Just in case of spoilage.

I'd bought it months ago and keep meaning to have it with something. We had grilled swordfish tonight and about three fourths of the way through dinner I remembered I'd put it in. I was too busy with the grill to set it out.

Though I did purchase an assortment of French wines last week. I'll get the names in the morning.

It won't be spoiled unless it has been opened already.

Wine is more robust than you think - historically, some exceptionally sturdy whites were used as ballast.

I was told whites shouldn't be chilled from cellar condition and rewarmed/reintroduced. It's a 13-16 degree swing. Specifically, older whites that honey/mellow out. It's a 2010. Wine monger was sampling a few bottles out when I purchased it. Aged well for a white.

I'll keep it for something special. I'm sure something's bound to come up.

To be honest, I rarely chill white wines; I prefer them at a little less than room temperature.

Interesting. Do you find it allows you to taste the individual notes better? I do this with Rieslings. Also because I feel giddy when a bottle is around. I actually look forward to the holidays when I can buy a case and conveniently forget I bought it and hide it away for myself...

Yes, it does.

As - when I am home - I live in northern Europe - our climate is temperate, and quite cool, I have learned that robust reds, in particular, require hours to come to room temperature in winter.

Whites snatched straight from the fridge taste of cold, and nothing else.

In my experience, most whites taste better when they are not stunned into insensibility, so I serve them at a little less than room temperature.

Likewise, with the Trappist ales and beers I drink; I have come to prefer them at room temperature, or a little less - that way you get to taste them - rather than refrigerated.

And currently sipping a classic beer, but one with a twist.

This is a Guinness, but the version brewed - abroad - for the export market, the "Guinness Foreign Extra Stout".

And quite nice, it is, too.
