A few half pints this evening, that coconut cocoa stout I mentioned some time ago, plus an Asian pear single IPA, and a Rye IPA. Tasty!

Which Rye IPA did you have? I have only had a few and really dug them. Bear Republic has a good Rye IPA.
[doublepost=1514481369][/doublepost]I was able to finally try one of the sought after famed CBS Stouts from Founders. Yes, it is that freaking good! I was lucky enough to snag two bottles. I actually love the maple flavor in these and yes, I feel they are just "that" much better than their KBS siblings because of the maple flavoring that really comes through as the beer rests and is able to breath! Loved it!!!

Having some nice cognac at the moment... Found a nice bottle of scotch I stowed away four years ago and forgot about.

Actually had a few white wines and one red wine over the holiday that were outstanding. Of course outstanding is limited in this case since I don't have a lot of experience or a refined taste for wine.

  • Bergerie De L'Hortus Rose
  • Arrogant Frog Pinot Noir
  • Salt of The Earth Sweet Red (which ended up being my favorite of the bunch)

Straight out of the bottle!!!? The nerve of some people! :D

I was doing the samething but only with Sam Adams Cold Snap, which actually wasn't that bad. I needed something a little less heavy then more normal stout or porter beers.

But winter is a perfect time for the enjoyment of porters or stouts, especially the more robust offerings.

Did have Anchor Brewing Christmas Dark Ale which was rather tasty!!!! And I was able to track it down on tap!

Oh don't get me wrong, I love stouts. But after having some really heavy ones, just needed a nice little break that is all. See my above posts for CBS from Founders!

The only stouts that I imbibe - in winter - are those I would term 'robust'. After all, who wants an insipid ale in the bleakest, darkest, most moribund time of year?

Well, since I’m frittering my time down in the Central American Caribbean... I don’t grieve from the darkest and hiemal time of the year. So for me, winter is a not pertaining to luxuriate in such gauzy beverage. Would you not acquiesce?
