At the price rate increase of high end bourbon, it's going to be nigh impossible to find a good bottle in time before someone else snatches it up. Can't wait for the excitement and high end bourbon craze to crash. Which should send scotch prices tumbling or remain steady for 5-7 years, since the majority of scotch is aged in bourbon barrels. I love good bourbon as much as the next person, but I'm not paying an extra $70-120 for a bottle that was never MSRP'd at that price.

Anyway, on point.

Currently enjoying Lagunitas Nighttime Ale with a lemon shortbread and a nice organic apple.

With today's weather, a chilled chenin blanc or a Riesling would have been splendid. Unfortunately, it's not very wise to mix alcohol and NSAIDs.

I opted for slightly chilled lemon water.

Can't fault your selections: I'm a big fan of good Rieslings and I enjoyed an excellent Chenin Blanc yesterday evening.

You’re just substituting medicines. ;)
Sure, but this one tastes much better. And so soothing. It's amusing, though. I'd gone through enough medicine to pacify a small town with the remnants from my cold and I ended up trying some old timey herbal concoction someone recommended me on another board. Within 24 hours the issues subsided. One new issue did spring up but it's going away. I feel a hell of a lot better now. For the most part, most modern medicine that's OTC merely suppresses.

[doublepost=1517292138][/doublepost]No idea how you can drink in this weather hitting the state. Even with central air turned to 60, you feel miserable.

I have arrived home and have poured a bottle of Founder's KBS into a suitable glass, and am about to greet it. Warmly.

I have two left! It pains me to even think about drinking them, but on the flip side of the coin they are so freaking good. Speaking of which KBS day is coming!

Had my last bottle of "Black Tuesday" this weekend. This bad boy clocks in at 19.5% and is one of the best bourbon aged stouts I have ever had! It is that good and well worth the price. This one really shines as it starts to warm up. If you can get your hands on a bottle grab it!

I have full crate of this beer.........and I have been away for the past four months.

So, yes, last night was exceedingly enjoyable.

Today, I paid a visit to my wine merchant.

Tomorrow, a crate of wine (four bottles of Chateauneuf-du-Pape - from two different producers - several bottles of Meursault, a few of Poligny-Montrachet and one or two others that were highly recommended, twelve altogether) will be delivered to my door in the morning.

wife is drinking this pinot tonight. not bad for a cheap daily drinker. it's very light, so you could even pair with seafood.

Not a bad bottle. Had the 2014 before. Pinots have always had a floaty, light feeling on my tongue. But Pinots priced low aren't always like other varieties where you'll find gems that outpace bottles 3-4x the cost or more. Sometimes they're too harsh and needed more time in the barrel.

Also, cool Wolf toaster oven. I don't think I've ever seen that outside their showrooms and authorized dealers. Their toaster is pretty rad, too. You can try refined coconut oil or multisurface Pledge to get rid of the oxidation and etched water marks.

A crate of wine was delivered to my door; four bottles of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, two of Meursault, two of Poligny-Montrachet, two excellent Pouilly-Fuissé wines, and a Vacqueras, (similar in structure and style to Charteauneuf-du-Pape), plus an outlier, which was strongly recommended, an award-winning wine from Yalumba in Australia made from Grenache grapes (the same grape that makes Chateauneuf-du-Pape).

Called into my favourite beer store: A crate will be delivered over the week-end comprising four bottles of Founder's KBS, four of Founder's Breakfast Stout, and four of the superb Yellow Belly from the Buxton Brewery.

While I was away, apparently, the legendary CBS from Founder's was stocked - for a single, solitary day - until the limited sucks sold. Well, this treat awaits me in the future, I don't doubt.

What’s the CBS? I’m not sure I know this one.

Beer aficionados write and speak of it in tones of reverent, and hushed, awe.

For myself, I have neither laid eyes on the product, nor - naturally - have I had the opportunity to taste it.

However, RateBeer gives it a score of 100%; from a quick read of a review or two, it seems to be a KBS that may have spent time getting to know itself inside barrels flavoured by maple syrup (hence the "C" - for Canada).

Interesting. I guess I’d worry about it being overly sweet. Maple syrup is tasty but extraordinarily sweet; I can’t eat much more than a teaspoon or two without being overwhelmed. Well, something to consider should I every run across it.
