My second and final beer for the evening: The legendary Yellow Belly - a stunning stout - from Buxton Brewery.
Still a brewery I have yet to lay hands on. But I’m ever on the look out.My second and final beer for the evening: The legendary Yellow Belly - a stunning stout - from Buxton Brewery.

Had a wonderful Spanish wine last night at a dinner party. Unfortunately, I couldn't read the label from where I was sitting and the script used. Full bodied, mild tannin, hint of sweetness similar to a Malbec or any other smooth red varietel. Think I'll explore some Spanish wines in the coming months.
Beer wise, as I'm feeling better this week, I haven't had anything special apart from some Goose IPA. Fairly decent semi-mass produced IPA by Goose Brewing. Some find it a bit too bitter. Also had their Madame Rose which is pretty nice. Think that was a Belgian. I'm not a huge fan of their Goose IPA, and so I had that with some chips. Black pepper and salt, if anyone cares. They were alright, but could have been better with some malt vinegar. Now the chips did irritate my throat and I'm dealing with that now.
None in the house. But on the books soon. Make a nice flourless chocolate torte. Maybe throw in some cooked, mashed beets to feel healthy while I reach for a second and third slice. Why not try a smooth porter or stout?
I have been looking for this also, when I ask some of the folks at the places I go for it, I get the deer in the headlights look. The search continues!
Had a rather mild Pils this weekend from Modern Times Brewery, it was called "ice". It wasn't the best Pils I have had, but it wasn't the worst either. IMHO, this one is served best really-really cold.
Also had one of my favorite stouts on tap, Ballast Point's "Victory at Sea".
I don't know how I missed this, or if I didn't, I don't remember, which might explain why I am seeing a lot more Ballast Point at the local places that I go to, on tap none the less, but it looks like they were purchased by a rather larger liquor/brewery conglomerate a few years back. Almost choked on the price tag too! One Billion! HOLY SMOKES!!

Vanilla Rye barrel-aged stout from my local brewery. Pretty good, and booooozy at 13%.
Yeah. I just call them Goose Brewing or Goose IPA because stores tend to associate it to the brand more than their actual name. The only time I buy it or say something like SN's Torpedo is when it's on sale. Summertime gets you nice below market prices because it hangs around and stores want to get rid of it. I'm not shy to admit I do like some mass produced beers because they go so well with certain food that I can't pair with certain crafts. Cape Cod chips go well with Goose IPA and taste terrible with some of the craft IPAs I've tried them with. You mean Goose Island? Yeah, it's a _decent_ option at a restaurant (with limited options), but not something I'd usually go out and buy.
Cool bottle. I wonder if the moose has different poses like Blanton's does with their horse.was running low on whiskey so:
I've got quite a few boozy beers to go through that I couldn't drink over the holidays. We're expecting some chilly weather this week, so it'll be a nice experience.

As far as mass produced goes, people like Laguanitas and I don't think it's all that great. The Little Sumpin they make sells out all the time. I've bought it a few times. It's alright. Some of their stouts are nice, though. There's a couple mass produced Mexican beers I like a lot but most people will look the other way before drinking it. It brings back memories. Also because you can drink more of it without having that overloaded taste in your mouth.

Nice, LS&B is a pretty serious bottle of Rye
Like I said, some of their stouts are really good. The way some people on another site blew up their general beers had me interested and when I tried it out, it wasn't that mind blowing. For a commercial beer, it's good, but it's not that good. You and me both. I have however had some of their special bourbon/whiskey barrel aged Stouts

A few cans of Heineken with a colleague, followed by a Weissbier.
Wait you had a Heineken?!?!
I love a good Weissbier, I also really like a good Belgium Witbier... One of the few American made in the style of a Belgium Witbier that I really like is "White Rascal" by Avery Brewery! Good stuff I tell yeah! In fact after reading this that is what I had! Cheers!
Really a Heineken...
